cg3de
After reading some of the things being said on our forum ,and talking with one of the moderators here at blue oval news it was disscussed that we have a need for some mods to do watch this site.a couple of people could do this job, for the last five days i have waited for someone to step up ,as i stated in my last reply , i am willing to try to keep the employee forum a little cleaner and less abusive to all, the moderator (nick) said they would have no problem with a couple of people taking the employee forum over as mods, since they really don't cover this forum . so if anybody has any input on this subject ,please reply .if someone would like to do this or has a problem with me being one of the mods, please reply all i'm trying to do is keep this site acceptable for everyone to give their opinions without getting slammed ,remember everyone is not going to have the same opinion , there are a lot of people that would probably give their ideas on the subject of the day if this site wasn't so brutal and vulgar. i've had family and friends read some of these posts with shock and dismay,i don't think this is helping our image with the general public CG3DE Edited March 4, 2010 by cg3de
sparks will fly
Your serious? 85% or more of the way people act on here is about as close to real life as it gets. Most of the time you need to learn to read between the lines and let people speak. Besides believe it or not we all adults and choice is what makes our world great, if you don't like the way things go on here you have a choice too........
stepup
"Acceptable" That's your first problem. I am with you on how embarassing some of the comments are but I don't want you determining what is "acceptable" and what is "bashing". Let it go. People are going to think what they want anyway. It's probably healthy for some of the angry ones to vent on here. That way, they will leave us alone on the floor. quote name='cg3de' date='03 March 2010 - 09:51 PM' timestamp='1267671103' post='600322'] After reading some of the things being said on our forum ,and talking with one of the moderators here at blue oval news it was disscussed that we have a need for some mods to do watch this site.a couple of people could do this job, for the last five days i have waited for someone to step up ,as i stated in my last reply , i am willing to try to keep the employee forum a little cleaner and less abusive to all, the moderator (nick) said they would have no problem with a couple of people taking the employee forum over as mods, since they really don't cover this forum . so if anybody has any input on this subject ,please reply .if someone would like to do this or has a problem with me being one of the mods, please reply all i'm trying to do is keep this site acceptable for everyone to give their opinions without getting slammed ,remember everyone is not going to have the same opinion , there are a lot of people that would probably give their ideas on the subject of the day if this site wasn't so brutal and vulgar. i've had family and friends read some of these posts with shock and dismay,i don't think this is helping our image with the general public CG3DE

lquidspine
The ONLY reason we would need a moderator is to remove non employees from bashing hourly and salaried alike(I know usually hourly), but we tend to do a good enough job with the report button to remove those very few anyway. Bedsides that I see no other reason a moderator would be needed, if things get out of control there is the report button and let the site admins handle things as they have been since I joined.

NickF1011
Yeah, that's right, take another freedom away from us. Attempt to gain power over us and our thoughts and feelings while having access to our personal info (IPs and email addys). Attempt to impose your moral code on the masses, attempt to imply that your family and friends are Ford Employees and have a say in what is said at this forum. In short, YOU want moderators, you will lose the few posters who still come here. Page hits are dollars. To clear the air, moderators DO NOT have access to IP's or email addresses. The only thing we can do is edit posts (which it shows us as having edited) and close/move threads. The only one who has access to that information is the site owner (Robert). If you guys don't want moderators here, fine. We're not forcing it on anyone. As it is though, I've seen some ridiculous stuff in the employee section (at the behest of users -- I usually don't even look at it otherwise) that just doesn't go on in the rest of the forums. The rest of the forums do a pretty good job of self-moderating themselves and we have very rarely ever had to close threads or edit posts. And we've only done that in the most overboard of situations. Vulgarity is fine. Complaining is fine. Personal attacks are not. They wouldn't be acceptable at your workplace. They shouldn't be acceptable here. Just use common sense. I just thought I would offer up more tools to allow you all to police yourselves instead of having any non-employee moderators do it for you.

Well, therein lies the issue. If things get out of control, the only thing the moderators can do right now is suggest to Robert to suspend their accounts. We do not have moderator abilities in the Employee section, so instead of simply removing the offending post, the only recourse is to ban the user entirely, which seems a bit heavy-handed in most cases. With one or more employee moderators, those of us who are NOT employees could give you all the freedom to not have us look in here AT ALL and instead let the employee moderator resolve those issues instead.

soupy
Only 10 posts whats up with that?? People are turned-off by the lack of civility and respect shown to others on this site. To have a difference of opinion is only natural and to openly discuss that is what has made this country (and union) great. I for one believe a moderator has been long over-due. This site has become unproductive and unhealthy.

Maislebandit
I have no problem with the way it is. It does not take long to identify what is "unacceptable". Simply don't keep going there. If anyone need be reminded, along with all the good in real life there will always be the ugly. It's no different on here. Anyhow, if this HAS to happen, I would like to think there'd be at least two moderators. One for salary and one for hourly.
Pioneer
I think the idea of a forum moderator(s) is long overdue. Constant posts by non-employees need to be dealt with faster than the report button allows, and the constant bickering, including personal attacks, need to stop. The only was is to have a moderator. If the two current ones do not want the responsibility, then it should be delegated to an employee.
stephenhawkings
Oh jezz one for hourly one for salary? how about one for retiress and one for customers and one for those who took the buyouts? Are we not Men and Women? grow up a bit people. Words can be taken harsher, or lighter than they are meant. We have all said or typed things we didn't mean, or they have given meaning that wasn't meant. Sometimes thin skin and thinner knowledge of what we said goes too far, step back take a deep breath and clam down every one. I still feel that the Obama/socialism/FOX/government bashing should be keep in the off topic, but I am not holding my breath.

I think Richard is in agreement with me on this that we'd rather let the employee area be looked after by employees. We both want to respect your independence from the rest of the forums by staying out as much as possible as neither of us are employees.

wildosvt
I for one hope that, If a mod is chosen. It is a higher seniority member of this site. This place went to hell after the "Toyota and Ford Merger" topic was created by a one post wonder. And it made the fucking newspaper.
Lostinindy
You should have gotten a clue when you put this in the last Topic (political post) and nobody was interested then. It is good of you to nominate yourself but I say no thanks. We do not want to be controlled by any one or two peoples opinion of what they think is right or wrong. This would be just like the union is today. ( A few trying to control the many ) If you think this site is to bad then go to another one. Have a good day.
