tapper Posted March 25, 2010 Share Posted March 25, 2010 Hello To All That Work At DTP. I read and read all the literature that is printed each week from the 'Spark' folks. I see the 'Spark' lady asking for donations in the worst of weather and commend her for her persistance and determination. But...... As I read every week, All I read is nothing moaning and groaning. Always a portion of the 'Spark' has to due with CEO salaries. Yes, the UAW did sacrifice and we should be re-compensated, But what makes you think your gold leaflet will change anything? What has the 'Spark' accomplished other than renting hotel baquet rooms, grab a mic and moan and groan more? All I read is gloom and doom, but nothing positive or no real solutions. Any backup for you's from the UAW Intl or Local? I havent been to any of the gatherings and dont plan to, but I keep reading and reading with no results! Let the flaming begin! Believe it or not she is an activist for the real people who work hard everyday. She is also a dedicated educator with the degrees to back it up. She stands out there rain or shine to give a voice to what she believes in and for that we must give her credit. She is seeking no job within the inside of the walls at which we work and has been standing out there for as long as some of us have walked in the door for the very first time. I would love nothing more than to do a story about her one day as she has always listened to many with an open ear and then printed what a lot of the workers have always wanted to say. She has made visits to local hospitals when the hourly workforce has been sick and has never wavered her stance on what the treatment should be toward our union brothers and sisters. She prints the "Spark" by the small contributions that she receives at the gate. Her paper is written from what she learns from you (the working class blue collar workers) and nothing else. Next time you see her, it would not hurt you to say hello. I'm sure if you ask her why she does what she does, she probably has a great story behind it. I know for the 10 plus years I walked past her she was always concerned about us first, never herself. I fear it would be badly misguided and prone to be full of errors. (not to mention rated R) I read the "Spark". I believe most of what is inside it is junk. I believe most of what is inside it is misguided and one sided and politically motivated. I wish I could have one here in front of me right now to back up my opinions but alas i do not keep them. Kudos to her for doing something she believes in and putting forth the effort in doing so, but hey, there are plenty of horrible people out there who put forth equal effort in attaining self appreciating status with no concerns for others. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying she is that type of person, but just because someone works hard at something for what seems like little to no advantage to oneself does not mean that there is not one there. No kool aid here just simple respect for at least one that seems to want to allow the voice of the workers be known in such a big complex. Again I do not agree with all of their beliefs or what all they report as far as work goes. The Rouge is not like a small plant with no Units, the place is so spread out rarely do the majority of workers ever interact with each other outside of work. That is all. When I first met her, I told her some of the things you have been saying . . . I have even told her to go and live in one of the countries that support such doctrine . . . She knows very well the FREEDOM she has here. . . I've told her that OUR country would never allow her to succeed in her doctrine, though Obama seems to be on that path. . . Have you ever met a Jehovahs Witness or a Born Again Christian? Marty has the same fervor just as those people do . . . Excellent description, all the stuff she write is from the uaw members about what's going on in the plants. She's a voice for working class people, kinda like what the Tea Parties claim too be, depending on whos voice you want to listen too. Oh I'm sorry you didn't take advantage of the educational buyout or ETAP while it was available. I hope it comes back so you can take advantage of it and get yourself an education.
