Retiree medical benefits

I'm hearing talk of a march on the International union office about the inequities of retiree health plans...I'll keep all who wish to know informed.

Since our union has decided to let these inequities continue I believe all monetary support for political action commitees should stop until the union can afford to treat all retirees equally ..

Yes I would like the same as active members have, but at the very least all retirees should have the same. What are you trying to get at, do you think the retirees shouldn't expect the same coverage they were told they would have.

real world time...what part of BANKRUPT dont u understand? the VEBA would not last 5 years if u had the same benefits..thats just a hard FACT... Caterpillars VEBA lasted all of 7years.... thats it

If this is the case..our union should have not agreed to the veba in the first place. If we can't protect our retirees we might as well throw in the towel and every dog for himself. This kind of infighting is just what the company relishes seeing.. our union leadership should have seen it coming. They take care of themselves first and thats the truth..

ford med bcbs tcn.pdfI have read all the posting with interest and as a retiree living in Indiana I can tell you the benefits available are not the same for all. The only option I have is BCBS TCN. No HMO. NO PPO. The insurance I have mandates I pay 100% for office calls, specialists, and lab work. I also have to meet a $340 family deductable per year and a $570 annual out of pocket expense a year. In essence, this is just catastropic care insurance as there is no payment for basic maintenance. Contrast this to the BSBC PPO plan. This plan offers a 50% co-pay for primary care physicians, specialists, and lab work. The Health Partners Freedom plan has a $20 co-pay for primary care phyicians, specialists, and lab work. The Alliance Health Care Plan-Medicare offers a $10 co-pay for your family doctor, specialists, and lab work.

My doctor charges $70 fror an office call. If I could get Alliance, I would only pay $10. BCBS PPO would cost me $35. Instead, I have to pay the full $70 just because of geography. This wrong in every way. It violates the bedrock foundation of which our union was formed, equality for all.

I have read the back and forth between brothers from Michigan and Ohio and would like to add my opinion. I am not against any benefits my brothers in Michigan may have that I don't. Good for them. But considering I pay the same amount from my pension check as they do I feel as though I should have the same choices or as close to the same choices as practically possible. This is an issue that needs to and must be addressed.

Ater you pay the $340 family deductable and $570 annual out of pocket, do you still pay for office calls, lab works, etc.?

Don't know about lab work, but office visits don't count towards your out of pocket expense.

Would you be wiiling to tell me what your card says? I'm in Ohio and mine says PPO on the bottom left and TCN in the middle. So I don't know if I have PPO, TCN or both.

I have Medical Mutual of Ohio and so far for 4 doctors visit's , 3 for my wife and 1 for me my total responsibility is 1,350 dollars. My wife has to have lab work done on a regular basis as she has many health issues. Medical Mutual says I have to pay another 220.00 dollars before We reach the 570.00 out of pocket max. You would think that we would of already reached that by now. It is very difficult to figure out exactly how much we owe as Medical Mutual does not seem to pay for anything. My wife has had to go to the doctors office 2 more times since i received that 1,350 dollar figure. I remember when we first received our new insurance packet and it said we got to keep the coverage that we had. I would hardly call this the same coverage that we had.

I have read some of the retirees in Mich say we deserve the insurance that we have in Ohio. Well I say how would you like to have this crappy insurance ? Some of you from Michigan say if we had your insurance than the Veba will not survive. Well if that is the case than why don't all you Mich retirees tell the union you want what we have in Ohio to presrve the Verba. Oh and by the way I have nothing against Michigan retirees as I lived half my life in Michigan and I still love it. I still have half of my family that lives there including my dad who is also a Ford retiree.

Oh and by the way I have been told by Medical Mutual I have TCN care even though my card also shows TCN and Super PPO.

Your lucky to have to pay just $70 for office visit , I'm a retirre out NAP here in VA. my office visits cost me $122 , have to pay for lab tests that used tto be covered and have to pay all specialty visits and additional fees , my wife has been going for psychratic and therapy sessions the last three years only to be told by this new plan only 15 visits covered per year.

Hello, are we able to see this info if we are not retired yet? I don't have a login for the site.

I would first like to state that I am very grateful that I do have retirement healthcare but not all plans are the same. You can go to https://www.benifitsweb.com/rhcc.html and create a login to download all the different plans. You can clearly see that some plans are much better than others. I live in Ohio and I do not think that it is fair that some areas get much better healthcare than I do. It just is not right.

Forddaughter, my card is the same as yours, PPO bottom left with the words traditional care network on the lower middle of the card. Go to the UAW-VEBA web site and it will tell you the plan in which you are enrolled but I believe I read that the PPO option is no longer available with BCBS.

My card says the same thing. I live in N East Ohio and I was told by Medical Mutual of Ohio that I have TCN.

What I cant understand is how any Union or Middle class citizen can support politicians that come right out and say they are against unions and our way of life.

The Republicans and Teabaggers want to destroy our way of life and their are actually fools in the union that vote for them.

I dont get it

Can anyone explain this to me.

There's moral issues involved plain and simple. Dems need to become more consersative with some issues.
