ohionab
So, what is everyone getting MPG wise? Is the 30 mpg highway on the V6 hard to get? Or somewhat easy as long as you dont gun it?
Tboneguy
I rented a 2011 V6 a few weeks ago. I was averaging over 24 MPG for the 500 miles I had it. Alot of that was Highway, but definitely not all. Also did a number of "tests" that would have brought the number down a bit. I did one speed controlled 60 MPH 20 mile highway jaunt (no AC) on a cool evening at got an indicated 37 MPG! When I tried that at 75 MPH on the turnpike with AC on full blast (and traffic) I was pushing up through 25 MPG when I had reached my destination. George Klass
I have a new 2011 V6 Mustang with the automatic trans. When it had about 800 miles on it I went to North Las Vegas from Upland, CA, about 250 miles. The A/C was on the whole time and I was never below 75 mph, and I averaged 31 mpg. I about fell over as I had never owned a car that got the same mileage that was posted on the window sticker. I also got 31 mpg on the way back to California, too. akirby
And all because Mulally told the engineers to make fuel economy a priority. Makes you wonder where Ford would be if they'd had that mindset 10 years ago.
93R-Code
On a recent trip from Chicago to Detroit for the Woodward Cruise I got 25mpg in my 3.73 geared GT with the AC blowing and the cruise set between 70-80 for most of the trip. yellowV6sport
In over 7800 miles since new, my average MPG is 29.44 ... however, from the time I finally broke 30 MPG 5800 miles ago, MPG average is 30.51 MPG. This is a V6 Premium MCA pkg. M/T car with 2.73 gears and no mods yet. Driving is 75% interstate with cruise set @ 75 MPH, another 10-15% is 65~85 MPH w/o cruise and balance is stop & go city driving. Stop & Go city driving is spirted off the line but once running in traffic I upshift to run between 1000-1500 RPM's ... 5th @ 30~35 MPH, 6th @ 40+ MPH. Drove my 2004 V6 5-Spd similarly and average mileage over 122k miles was 26.07 MPG. It is just unbelievable that this 2011 with 100 more HP, 300~400 lbs heavier, and 10mm wider tires all around is getting 17% better MPG's. jdaallen
I've had a '11 GT 500 now for 2 months. Did a 5500 mile road trip plus another 5500 miles around town. On the road at 75 with cruise controll it got consistantely 25 mpg on 93 octane. Here in Colorado we only have 91 octane and highway is 23 to 24 and city is 15 to 18. Not bad for 550 HP fun driving!!! :happy feet: Edited October 1, 2010 by jdaallen

bomber_68
On a 3500 mile road trip with my GT. 25.4 @ 75, 26.3 @ 70, and 28.2 @ 65! Entire trip averaged 26.1. All speeds and calculations were done with a GPS for accuracy.
Alcibiades
This weekend I got 31 mpg on my new GT (auto), going slowly (about 55) on an empty, flat road with no wind. Real life highway driving seems to be about 25-26 mpg. Pretty good, I think.
