2013 MKZ Tracking

Recommended Posts

Well, I heard from my Lincoln Customer Care Specialist this morning and she informed me that my car has been produced. She said that she didn’t have shipping information yet but it was showing an ETA of May 12th.

How were some of you guys tracking the shipping status of your cars earlier while waiting for them to arrive? If I recall

Stupid ordering question: Outside of all of the craziness with MKZ production, for an average American luxury car with average dealer supply and unbothered production, what is the usual amount of time a buyer would expect to wait for a custom order?

I ordered a hot-selling BMW model many years ago and I have the recollection of it being a bit more than 2 months from order to sitting in the dealer's little "drive away" display area in the showroom. When things are "normal" for the MKZ, what would we expect?

If you have dealer# and order# you can try Cyberman's tracking page in this forum or try this one.

According to their timetable it's 12-14weeks

May 1st I'll hear back from my Lincoln Care Specialist for the latest status. As of now I have a scheduled delivery date of the 12th, which is a Sunday and we have no New Car Vehicle sales on Sunday's here in Indiana so if it arrives that week it looks like I'll be picking it up on the 17th due to my wife's work schedule. My dealer is 2 hours away of which I'm committed to. Long story there...

At any rate, the wait continues but getting closer.

A $100 gift card in the mail from Lincoln thanking me for my patience and commitment to The 2013 MKZ!

This is separate from the Lincoln Makers program bespoke gift which I am also eligible for .....

Good stuff ....

  • 2 weeks later...

As of this morning my car is in route to the dealership. It will be there later today or tomorrow. I'm 2 hours away from my dealership so it will be tomorrow that I pick it up at the soonest.

It's been a long haul as I ordered December 18th! I spent too much time waiting on Multi Contour seat availability which ended up being fertile as they're not available for MY2013!

That's good, last I've read it was ETA of May 12. Make sure you go over everything before you take delivery.

Thanks for the reply! I got a call from both my Lincoln Care Specialist and my dealer and my car just got to the dealership. It looks like I'll be driving 2 hours down to Jasper Indiana to tomorrow to pick it up. Admittedly I'm thrilled after such a long wait...

I will most assuredly will be checking out thoroughly.

Thanks for the advice.

Hey Stent, one other item I would suggest is that you should drive home the point that the delay caused by your multi contour seats and the lack of communication was not at all what you expected from a Luxury brand. Ford/Lincoln need to get it through their heads that until they start taking accountability for their direct actions that caused us to be so frustrated, all the 100 dollar gift cards, crappy little wooden boxes, and a night out on the town is not going to make up for it.

Which means you need to drive that home in your survey comments!

Thanks Tanner, I would prefer not to do that in the survey that rates the dealership. I have a lengthy, healthy relationship with them; hence the two hour drive.

I will totally drive that home in the Lincoln servey. The wait for those seats cost me 3 months easily and some prior notification would have averted the additional wait on top of the botched launch.

Just read the Autoweek review of the MKZ hybrid, and they raked the car over the coals. I can truly say that in 3000 miles, I have not experienced any of the disappointments they describe with their test vehicle. My mpg has increased steadily as the car broke in and I learned how to drive it. It is right at 40mpg overall now, and often enters the 40-43 mpg zone. I have a few minor criticisms, but none of the ones they wrote about, and overall I am very pleased with the car.

For anyone who may be interested, here's the link to their review:

Regarding the prior notification you would have liked, I pre-ordered in September, and wanted those same seats. At that time, my dealer advised me that they would be 'late delivery', and would likely delay my order quite a bit (I got mine in early March). I decided against including those seats on my order, and given what has happened since, am very glad I did.

yes, I've read it early this morning. It's way one sided. Seems almost a joke of some sort. Every thing was nitpicked and exaggerated beyond belief. So I don't take it seriously. Not everything you read on the interweb is true and it's the author's opinion as with all reviewers.

So I just read this article, and having almost 3K on my hybrid in some ways I do concur. My gas engine is noisy, and when it kicks on the active noise cancellation does not cover it up at all! I think it was stupid though to compare a hybrid with a german sports car, because one has 188 hp combined and the other has much more than that, so obviously the german car is going to be more sporty. And it is true that it is a drastic switch in drive style that people have to make if they want 42 plus MPG consistently.

Now having said that I drove the 300h and it was a nice car but..... it would not maintain 62 MPH on EV, it did not have near the technology that MLT does, nor did it have near the fuel/hypermiling technology that allow me to take advantage of my Lincoln hybrid. So all in all those are exactly why I did not jump in January when Lincoln still had a big TBD on where and when my order was going to arrive.

Note for XG and Serraph - Ok and my wife said no you are going to wait for the MKZ. I know you guys would have remembered my rant from long ago and called me on my statement above :)

I failed to mention that I consider waiting for those seats was a self-inflicted injury. I knew I was holding out with a glimmer of hope. At any rate, I brought her home today and it was a long rainy day but boy did I ever enjoy the 2 hour drive home this rainy, gloomy day. A lot to learn but I'm incredibly optimistic. The car looks and drives great! I know people will want pix posted but it's late, the car is dirty, and we'll have to wait.

The ride home gave me plenty of time to work the MLT. To hell with the moron reviewers that struggle with this. These guys should be doing dishes at Denny's. it almost came naturally and one needs to understand that simply smacking down on a key selection is stupid acting as if it's a physical button. It's thermally activated and takes slightly more time to respond then one's smart phone. Okay; that was intuitive after 10 minutes in the car! I can almost guarantee that if the hood ornament were that of BMW, Mercedes, or Lexus they would've been driving around with moist panties boasting about a great car. Sorry for that analogy.

No disappointments at all with the car and pix will be posted in the next day or two.

Thanks all.

I've been on the road since April 19th and have put 4300 miles on the car since then. I'll add another 2000 going home next week. I've been through deserts, over mountains, in rain too heavy for the wipers, and on flat straightaways. From CA to OK, TX, AR, Ala, Miss, NC, VA, TN, and back to Ark, I was mostly at 80mph with a fully loaded car. My best lifetime average mileage is 34.5 mpg.

I agree the engine is too noisy when transitioning from battery to gas. The ride, both when driving and as a passenger, feels like we're rocking side to side. Don't know if that's the suspension or what. The crash alert has gone off at wired times because it senses objects in front of the car when I'm actually going around a curve.

I said it before and I'll say it again. My all-time favorite car for luxury and riding was the 2010 Taurus Limited. However, with the MKZ, I've never had a car where so many people have actually stopped to look at it, or ask about it, or have hung out of their vehicles at stop lights to check it out.

While 34 mpg isn't what's advertised, I still can't get over stopping for gas and putting in 5 or 6 gallons to fill-up after driving a while.

Yes we do remember. It was worth the wait IMO. Like I've said many times before we kept coming back to the Lexus dealer due to the massive delay on the MKZ but in the end we stuck with the Z and it was the best decision ever. We're extremely happy with the MKZ and will probably look at Lincoln again in 4-5 years for the wifey. She wants the MKC but we're going to wait for the 2nd MY MKC and not jump at it the moment it's available for preorder.

Congrats, looking forward to the pix. Took me a few days to get the pix on my Champagne one since it's always cloudy here. Enjoy. Ooh, maybe I should take a pix with the car tinted as well. It's been really sunny here lately and give something to compare.

No. I got my car Feb 22nd. I've been on the road, traveling, since April 19th and have put a lot of miles on the car in 3 weeks, 4300+, and in a lot of conditions. I start home next week ... another 2000 miles. That may break my record for mileage in a month. I put 6085 miles on the 2011 MKZ a couple of months after I got that one. It wasn't a hybrid and didn't have as many gadgets but I think it was a better ride. I don't know what it is about this one but, on long distances when you're riding as a passenger especially, it feels like you're slightly rocking side to side. It's annoying. I also waited for this car and hate to complain about it but ....... it is what it is, at least from my experience. And the rocking or swaying is not something That any passenger was aware of in town. It's the long distance highway rides.
