Since it is unpainted and unrestored, how long before it starts rusting? what is the best way to keep this car from rusting?

One of my favorite years. Carroll Shelby had a 1970 GT500 in royal maroon red. We actually got it started after it had been sitting in the Shelby museum for a few years.
