fuzzymoomoo
So is the December TLO still on? Somebody mentioned a few posts back that it was cancelled. There never was a December TLO. That was just a rumor someone started on the floor because it happened last year.
lackanookey
A committee man said that the week of January 5th was a lay off week, as well as a week in February and March. BUT my real question is why MAP is running 3 shifts and has tons of down time. Is it a shortage of parts of just falling sales? trailfndr
The problem is Sales. Anytime the fuel prices go down, small car sales suffer. There have not been any parts issues.
lackanookey
That is what I thought. So if the problem is sales, I wonder if there are any plans to get rid of the 3rd shift?

Wouldn't shock me if sales stay the way they are. And I have very little faith in the management of our local to fight against it.
playball31
I can't see having anymore down time until the dealerships are full of 2015 models.
littlecountry
The company likes running 3 crews. No overtime And if they have not laid MAP C crew off yet then they must have a plan down the road that calls for MAP to need it. C Crew at MAP isn't going away, those who believe this are drinking the Kool Aid.
fuzzymoomoo
So it looks like I was wrong about no downtime in January. We will be running 2 weeks on, two weeks off for a while, maybe into March. Edited November 30, 2014 by fuzzymoomoo
lackanookey
So, I wonder when Ford plans on telling us about these lay offs? Also, how long can this plant run 2 weeks on 2 weeks off? What is the point of 3 shifts if the plant is shut down every 2 weeks? They have to be drowning in 2014 Focuses and are in no hurry to roll out the 2015's until some of the 2014's are cleared out. fuzzymoomoo
Not sure, but that's what I heard from a very reliable source high up with one of our supplying plants
010300
If we only work half of the time for the next 3 months, then cutting one shift wouldn't even be enough. Just how slow are the Focus sales?

lackanookey
Looks like Ford is going to have to put this flexible plant to use and add a new product. Why are there several different vehicles made off of the Focus platform, but the most flexible assembly plant sits idle for months out of the year?? trailfndr
The flexibility issue is due to lack of space for parts. This plant is simply TOO SMALL for adding any additional product. Ask Launch people delivering parts, they can't find space for the new model parts. Edited November 30, 2014 by trailfndr

There's rumor of a Lincoln build off of the focus coming in the near future, (it was discussed earlier in this thread), I could also see them deciding to A. give us the Focus RS if/when it comes to NA instead of building it in Europe and B. Having us handle overflow MKC production that Louisville can't handle (from what I understand they're struggling to keep up with both MKC and Escape.) fuzzymoomoo
Heard the same from those in upper management When is it supposed to be announced? Not to sound like a douche here, but I'll believe it when I see it. Too many different rumors flying around to really latch onto anything.
