fordmantpw
Ford offers a spray in box liner as an option, I am just wondering if it is the same as aftermarket or maybe done a little better at factory? The Ford factory one is not as thick as aftermarket, and it pulls off much easier than aftermarket ones due to very little paint prep on the factory liner. I'm getting a Toff sprayed in by the dealer after my truck comes in for about the same price as a factory liner.
campingnut
I thought that might be the case was hoping it would be the same at least Edited February 6, 2017 by campingnut
lkbrow1
I never had any problems with my 2011 F350 spray in liner from the factory. I had after market ones on previous trucks. I could not tell the difference.
waloud
The bed liners are not sprayed in at the factory. They have another company that sprays the liner before it is shipped out from plant. Wished I had more info.
computergeek
I like Line-X better than the factory spray. It is thicker and I think with an aluminum box I want the extra protection. Plus if you damage it Line-X will touch it up for you. I don't know what kind of warranty the factory coating has but Line-X takes care of you. mettech
I have it in my 2016 SD and i like it and would do the same again. I was told it is covered as of it was paint under the warranty.
DaneNav
I ordered the spray in liner. Is there a known manufacturer of this product? I have heard both pros and cons to the factory spray in liner.
ElectroForce
The Ford factory one is not as thick as aftermarket, and it pulls off much easier than aftermarket ones due to very little paint prep on the factory liner. I'm getting a Toff sprayed in by the dealer after my truck comes in for about the same price as a factory liner. I have to agree with fordmantp not as thick as aftermarket. My 2012 SD I have has factory bedliner have had no real problem with it. I've dragged my 5th wheel hitch out of the box with damaging it. The only problem is it appears that each individual panel of the box appears to be sprayed before assembly then riveted together. Leaving gaps between panels where dust enters the box. When a box cover is installed with tailgate seal. This is on my 2012 SD. When I stand in the box looking down I can see the ground under the truck through the spaces of the main floor and the side panels. The new F350 I have on order will have an aftermarket spray in bed liner which will seal the spaces up except the drain holes

Macmac350
on the new trucks, are there holes in it like they mention above or has it improved since 2012.
Macmac350
anyone with the 2017 have spray in liner? Do they fit tight?
akirby
anyone with the 2017 have spray in liner? Do they fit tight? If it's sprayed in then it's bonded to the bed. Can't get any tighter than that.

akirby
this is the reason i asked if there are hole in it. I didn't realize you were talking about the gaps between the panels. Strange that they would spray the panels individually.
waloud
I didn't realize you were talking about the gaps between the panels. Strange that they would spray the panels individually. The panels are not sprayed individually on these. They go to an outside company after being built for the liner.

Macmac350
just heard from a family member that works there it is Rhino.
fordmantpw
just heard from a family member that works there it is Rhino. No, it isn't Rhino. Tough Bed is the name of it (could just be Ford's name), and it's nowhere even close to Rhino.
Macmac350
well ok, he works and builds these. I will take his word as he is on the end of the line as these go out! doesn't really matter as I am going with line-x, about the same price and warranty is better. Nonrev59
Is it true that they don't pull off the box link brackets when they spray so you can see the original paint through middle of them?

Nonrev59
I went over to a dealer yesterday that had two trucks with they said factory spray bed liners. Both 2017 250's. What was crazy was one looked pretty good. Nice, even shiny and the other dull and really kinda looked crappy. Ask him why the difference. He had no idea. That just confused me more than when I started. Looks like safer to go with Line-X.
