twintornados
While Fusion and MKZ have their own dedicated plant, Mondeo is made in Valencia. Spain along with five other vehicles. Maybe there are lessons to be learned with being able to deliver low volumes of certain products.. From memory, Valencia builds Mondeo, S-Max, Galaxy, Transit Connect, C-Max and Kuga. . Yes, but that dedicated Fusion/MKZ plant used to spit out Focus at a good clip.
jpd80
My point is that Valencia is a flexible plant and it's ability to build more than one type of vehicle. is why Ford has kept Mondeo around even with lower sales than Fusion. akirby
Fusion and MKZ needed a dedicated plant because at one time they were selling 300K+ vehicles per year. Factory capacity. Going forward using common platforms and architectures they'll be able to share more factory space amongst different vehicles.
jpd80
The only issue is the gap between when those new products start at Hermosillo, not sure if they arrive next year or the year after, CY2020?..
bzcat
Valencia also supplies Mondeo for the rest of the world besides China and the Americas... you add them all up it is still a decent volume. But I suspect that it may not stay that way as volume peel off slowly towards CUVs in every market.

bzcat
I have a hunch that export business has collapsed You mean selling a midsize car that looked the same for 10+ years is not a good idea when competitors update their car every 5 years?
