  1. The same transmission is not only Toyota, but Volvo has also been a POS. For some odd reason that version is experiencing a high failure rate. The Mazda6/Fusion/500 version seems to be avoiding any issues... There has to be a common denominator in that.
  2. Because Ford's advertising agency, simply sucks. I have yet to see a decent commercial in years. I think the only informative, decent ones were a few years back when Bill Ford described the vehicle or it's features.... Now we have "Lincoln" commercial that don't discuss the vehicle at all, yet peoples hopes, dreams, and whack off fantasies...
  3. The reason the V12 is rated at just 280HP is because that is the limit, the government allows an engine to have. They don't limit torque, just HP. So the thinking behind the V-12, is just capped at 280HP, but have much more torque.
  4. When you like a vehicle, chances are it's because it has numerous attributes that are important to you. Yes, theres' always a vehicle which is, bigger (if you want that)...smaller (if you want that)...More powerful, more fuel efficient, better inteior, or better technology, better rebates, etc.etc. Yeah there's a BMW thats a few thousands more, but I'm sure it lacks on many other levels, yeah there's a Rav4 with 3rd row seating, Yeah there's even the Explorer with more seating and available V8, etc. Still, it's all about how the person likes the vehicle. I personally wouldn't even venture for a BMW X3..flimsy crappy little thing, but a good engine. The Edge is more inline with the Murano. Ford calls them "Crossovers"... I call this a "Personal Crossover". A bit more intimate and personal than a Freestyle per se....stylish like the Murano (but attractive)... BUt again, this is all personal opinion and taste.
  5. I had a Scion that got a lil' bit upset tonight because when he made a right onto a main street, I did as well, but jumped over to the left most lane and gunned it. Dont know WHY the hell he thought it would be cute to try to catch up, but didnt matter...red light came up. Then when it turned green, he must have turned red seeing me blast off in my LS. And this whole time I'm thinking "A Scion? Really, get real!..in fact, a GET REAL car even if it's used" An Aveo SS, would be a joke...
  6. If we place import tarriffs on Japanese vehicles entering the country, there wouldn't be that many that would be affected since many of them are produced in the U.S. already. What you could do, is place a tarriff on the basis that it's a company HQ's in Japan, but then the argument against would be "Well this is Toyota of NA", thats our headquarter. So it's very tricky. Most importantly, you need a government that would be willing to at least look at alternatives, and unfortunately ours have said there isn't a problem...
  7. It's a Daewoo engine, which isn't very efficient to begin with, it's not really the size or the weight of the car. I had a friend back out of a Honda Civic purchase when he found out the Civic Si, had V6 like fuel economy. He just couldn't believe it, so "Honda-boy" (as he called himself) is now looking at other vehicles. If he's so inclined, I told him to try a V6 Accord since it's almost the same fuel estimates.
  8. Trust me, the Tundras introduction is certainly not going to distract anyone from the holidays
  9. I've noticed something and maybe have my own conclusion, when I see these lists, I dont think "Hmm, those are vehicles people REEALLY want"...since the sales numbers doesn't usually put them as top sellers in their segments"... I think "Hmm, those are people who are really looking to research to find a deal because it's a vehicle that is hard to find a rebate on" Thats my take...
  10. Thats' hilarious... I couldn't have said it better...
  11. I have said it over and over again...Ford's marketing/advertising, SUCKS. It always has. Actually, Ford has the biggest budget of any other manufacturer for advertising, last I heard. And this is the CRAP they come up with? I want to know about the VEHICLE...Tell me what it does, why is it different than it's competitors...show me the styling, the interior, etc. I dont give a flying F--K about peoples aspirations, some wet fantasy they had during childhood, some Xman lovin' "I wanna conquer the world" BS... I don't give a S--T about these made up IDIOTS! Show me the VEHICLE !!! Educate me. Yes I agree, Americans are horrible consumers and uneducated citizens, so I understand having to lay these "dreams" out for them, but they also need to know about the product !!
  12. Thats it? There's much worse people in control out there, who've done sssooo much worse, and viewed soooo badly by sooooo many other people... Personally, Bill Ford has nothing to worry about. What he is guilty of, requires the direction of other people. He's just the posterboy for the most part.
  13. I'll say it, as I have said it before... All these "analysts" throw this garbage out there... so when the issue happens, "IF" it happens, then they will say "OH I remember 25 years ago, I first said how Ford would be wise to sell _____" And that is there 2 minutes of fame...some mental, whack-off fantasy they composed, to please their editor for a daily paper. This is one of them... These people NEED to be held accountable. They only get the positive remarks when something does happen they foresee...no one takes their bad record of predictability when it fails.
  14. Actually spring of next year when the Mazda6 is redesigned, it receives the D35. After the Zephyr, but waaayyyy before the Fusion/Milan.
  15. First of all, where does this argument stem from. I keep hearing about him needing to be fired, but can someone explain why ? Such as, the basis for such a decision? As it is, maybe now after a few years, we might be seeing results from decisions made years ago. I want to reitterate, in such large companies, you won't see results till 2-3 years, specifically on products. And for those that wish him out, I ask, Why specifically? Is it some vehicles you want, is it a specific issues your trying to address, si it because your looking for results tomorrow, or he's made some decisions you dont like, or you want some product guru to be in charge? Tell me...I'm not seeing much valid points here.
  16. The focus is stablizing, which will be hard to do since in the next few years, Fords core profits/sales are coming from BOF vehicles, one which could be dumped (Panthers). So the focus has become more about what to replace those sales with. Maybe by 2010 when the Panther is shot, Ford might be counting on sales of it's B-segment vehicles to make up for the 200K lost sales of the Panthers. Just as the 500/Mtg and Fusion/Milan together supposed to make up for the Taurus sales. Just how the Edge/Freestyle, pick up the sales drop of Explorer's, Etc.
  17. Thats where Lincoln needs to stop, at the $60K range. As it is, some Navi's can hit that easily which I think is rediculous...specially when they need to slap on the $10K rebate. They need to price the vehicles according to the real transaction price people are willing to pay. For anything over $50K, I say they get a Jaguar, which was Ford's original plan. Lincoln can easily fit the $30-60K range. Affordable American Luxury.
  18. I believe the only 8 speed is in the new Lexus LS460 that will debut in a few months, so he's jumping the gun a bit. Under that, you have 7 speeds at MBenz. And again, Cadillac doesn't have a flagship that can be taken seriously. SO I see his point...but thats still being worked on.
  19. Well considering there's a been a review or 2, which pits the Expedition as being better than the Tahoe, should help quite a bit in the decision making.
  20. Or maybe gas will be $5 by 2009, so then possibly an I-4 will be offered
  21. I had a BMW which lasted 6 months...couldn't stand the red gauges, made me all hot and sweaty, icky sticky in all this Florida heat. I've always liked Fords Green, and VW's blueish purple instrumentation. Originally Saturn always had the piss-yellow lighting although they have gotten orangy throughout the year. Chrysler has kept the piss-yellow as well which I also dislike.
  22. Wow, total death and devestation, mangled metal and plastic piercing through flesh and organs. They have a long way to go if they think they are going to peddle this crap in the U.S., and for the first initial buyers, my advice is "You asked for it". Hell if I were an auto insurance company, I wouldn't even cover this vehicle !
