  1. We are on a trip this week from the Charlotte NC area to Chattanooga TN area. Took I85 to Atlanta then I75 to Chattanooga in our C-Max. Temps are mid upper 80's to lower 90's so AC is necessary. There are 2 of us traveling and we have baggage for about 10 which for us is usual. After arriving to destination we are above 49 MPG and tickled. We used cruise control on ECO mode which helps. There are a lot of steep hills some with extra lanes for slow moving trucks. We just crossed 22K miles while driving today and we are getting the best mileage since purchase. I do not know how others drive but I do drive to get good mileage by paying attention to traffic and use regen brakes for near 95% eff. I can't wait for some to question the numbers but I checked the numbers twice and there are no math issues.
  2. I read an article that according to testing of tires that all of the tires that came from one plant had 2 defects where the specs for the tire were less than required. The test proved someone from that plant had ordered a cheaper material that led to the separations. According to those tests the results had nothing to do with Ford. all of this is from memory and I may have even dreamed this so I could be wrong. As I remember I had searched the www around 2001 and found the documents.
  3. My Ford dealer says he will match any price on any tires they sell..........
  4. waiting for chevys to come and say Ford knew all along and this was intentional deception by Ford....
  5. ya see, this is stupid if you buy a hybrid. what is stupid of others is to buy a hybrid and drive the hell out of it. If you are going to pay for a hybrid get the good out of the hybrid part. What is stupid about you is that you fail to recognize other people have different ideas about what is important. You sound like I did when I was 19, 396 SS and wore out 6 tires and had 4 new ones before the 1st payment. stupid. stupid stupid. The good news is if you pay attention you might learn a few things yet.
  6. If you read my post I said Ford did screw up. They made it too powerful thinking the customer would be intelligent enough to understand that if you drive the car like a hybrid you could and would get the EPA est, But then you are not one of the intelligent drivers are you?
  7. No you are as stupid as I believe you are. I stated previously why I believe that and nothing you have stated changes my opinion of that. We have had our C-Max for almost 2 years now and are averaging better than 47. We drive it like a hybrid and it gives us what we expected. I believe Ford did make a mistake vs Toyota by making the C-Max tooo powerful thus giving the customer the option to get lesser mileage by driving tooooooo hard and thus getting less mileage. Ford should take out about 50 HP and then the typical customer would have the MPG I get by driving the speed limit.
  8. As a C-Max owner with over 20K miles I will share my opinion based on ownership. Ford screwed up badly. They gave the stupid customers tooooo much available power with their hybrids and EcoBoost options. Most customers see the EPA numbers and think they can drive the shit out of their precious gas sippers and do and then complain about the mileage. We are averaging over 47 since purchase and drive speed limits and keep up with traffic. If I remember correctly you are the poster that told me I should have bought a Prius or a Fiesta. My response was I would not take either if given free if I had to drive it. I bought the C-Max for the high seat position, hybrid for the MPG and SUV for carrying stuff. You continue to come here and state an opinion with no real world experience driving one.
  9. We are getting better 47 since purchase almost 2 years ago. I will cash the check but I'm very happy with the car as is.
  10. only one thing necessary..... Think like W. Edwards Deming......
  11. during the last contract while GM was in BK it was published that GM UAW workers were held to a lower wage and Ford was not able to negotiate the same rates....
  12. Something I posted on another thread: Ford pays it's execs more than GM Ford pays it's UAW workers more than GM Ford makes fewer vehicles than GM Ford makes more money on each vehicle than GM Ford customers must think their products are worth more than GM Ford market cap is about 18% more than GM, the investment market thinks Ford is worth more than GM
  13. Ford pays execs more than GM Ford pays UAW more than GM Ford builds fewer cars than GM Ford earns more profits than GM Ford makes significantly more per vehicle than GM
  14. I used the phrase 'till I learn better', don't know what this thing 'tweet' is.....
  15. I accept your admonition and if I promise to do better can I lurk till I learn better?
  16. My wife and I love our C-Max. Has over 18K miles and saving gas and riding smooth and high fits our fancy. Would not take a Prius for free if we had to drive it, love the high seating position of C-Max and gladly give up a few MPGs for it. And just for facts we are avg over 47 since purchase.
  17. You and Richard stated all that needed to be said...... Leaders Lead
  18. Would be 4WD with electric motors @ each wheel and torque would pull with great authority, remember the electric locomotives.
  19. and the more discussion of others going to AL will reduce the fears of buyers who poopoo the F150
  20. My dad also bought a '59 and I remember a steel strike and GM could not get steel while Ford had a steel mill, at least that is what I remember...
  21. There were 4 total '57 Fords in our family. While I was 9 at the time I still remember a red and white, black and yellow like in the article and a solid black. Years later my oldest brother bought his second, another solid black... I don't think I ever knew Ford out sold Chevy on '57....
