  1. I bought my Fusion almost 4 years ago, new with 32 miles on the odometer. Currently it is just shy of the 61,000 mile mark, and I've had the following things replaced under the original manufacturer warranty: - Floor mats It rides new, looks new and is far from a safety hazard. I made it a point when I bought mine to seek out the option pkg that included curtain/side airbags, ABS/Traction Control. There are a few things that drive me nuts, such as the padding on the door but outside of that I am very happy with the car. So much so that instead of buying another entry level luxury car we ended up with a 2010 Fusion Sport, a decision that came very easily. And yeah Ford brakes suck, which is why I'm aftermarket with mine......even then braking performance is not limited to the type of rotors and pads you have.
  2. I really don't see the big issue here, but then again maybe I'm a little bias. The texture looks fine in the 06-09 Fusion, and it looks fine in the 10- ..... it just amounts to nit picking for the sake of doing so. It's not like it's cheap hollow plastic complete with unfinished edges.
  3. Every vehicle in the Fiesta's size class are equipped with rear drum brakes. That includes the Honda Fit.
  4. Not a fan of the MKZ at all. Too much of the design (inside and out) rubs me the wrong way, and IMHO the price difference was not worth it.
  5. Actually they were a breeze. They had the inventory and the salesperson was very willing to deal with our upfront no-nonsense attitude. Still waiting on our other key, but other than that I'm very pleased. And no I'm not a fan of the Milan, on top of that it didn't come with the D35. Sorry Dean...
  6. At first we thought hmm we're probably missing out because we didn't go with the Mustang, but now that we've had the Fusion over the weekend I think we've made a sound decision. We weren't that price sensitive, but at the end of the day spending that much money on car payments each month was a bit silly. In terms of specs the only thing that we didn't opt for is the AWD. Ford's navigation interface is slick and it completely blows away the setups in vehicles costing a great deal more. Toys aside, I cannot believe how much effort Ford put into refining this vehicle. We still have our 06 SEL and it's like night and day
  7. Thanks. I saw your thread and meant to comment there....anyhow congrats yourself!
  8. Thanks! We were aiming for Tuxedo Black, but I think I'm liking the blue a little bit better.
  9. If this doesn't show you how far Ford has come, I don't know what will..... Our G was due to be turned in, so the other half thought it was a good a time as any to shop around. We looked at an S4, C350, GTI, G37 and Mustang GT. Due to the availability of the Mustang the way that we wanted it (and most dealers not willing to budge off of sticker) we passed. The other vehicles were great, but the feature content and ownership costs left a bit lacking. It's great to have a very fast vehicle, but in LA traffic when do you get to use it. So after a bunch of back and forth this is what we ended up with:
  10. Wow Ford moved 22K Fusions last month! Talk about a nameplate that has continued to gather steam.
  11. i think it's the adaptive nature of the transmission.
  12. I'm totally with you there ..... and that's not to imply that I believe Ford should receive a free pass and folks turn a blind cheek. I'd be pretty PO'd if I had a vehicle that had these issues, but from my experience backed by several reliability surveys this is far from common (at least from 06-09). All I've done with the 2006 SEL V-6 that we have is perform oil changes, replace brakes, replace tires and some fluid flushes that were necessary per service interval requirements. That's it! The car looks new, it was driven from Florida to California and it performs without a flaw. This is the vehicle that reaffirmed that the next vehicle that we buy to replace it will more than likely be a Ford.....and this is coming from someone that has owned everything from an Audi to a Volvo (and everything in btwn).
  13. Well I knew that. I just wanted to add some anecdotal evidence.
  14. Wow Ford's marketing has come a loooong way.
  15. That's news to me. We have an 06 with 60K and the transmission has performed without a hiccup.
  16. Well if it is so be it. Just like the Taurus is the basis (albeit modified) for the MKS/MKT/Flex/Explorer and the Edge/MKX being CD3 based.
  17. The Z/G/EX/FX/M all ride on Nissan's FM platform.
  18. For such a mediocre and ugly vehicle it sure seems to hold its own...
  19. I'm amazed at how many Transit Connects that I see on the roads in SoCal. I really didn't know how well that vehicle was going to go over, but apparently it has well around here.
  20. Actually their numbers are pretty spot on. A Milan Hybrid starts @ 31K. A similarly equipped Milan I-4 is somewhere around 25-26K.
  21. A short article regarding Ford's new Terrain Response, and how the folks and Land Rover feel about it: http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/21/land-rover-to-ford-good-luck-with-terrain-management-just-rem/
  22. The gauges are a lot better in person...... What I did not understand were the complaints related to the interior. It's far from "chintzy".
