  1. My Mustang does this too. Pull the key back out and put it in again. Sometimes the key will get stuck too. In this case Put your foot on the brake, put the car in N and put it back on P. If this totally fails, there is a little plastic cut out, like a little one inch slot, next to the shifter (at least it's on my car). You can pop this out to release the shift lock. This also proves Ford had noticed this too. I hope this helps.
  2. I had an EXP for 7 years! It lasted 120,000 miles until the girl who bought it crashed it.
  3. The Flex still looks very good to me. Yes it's long, but that makes the box shape look good. And that pic that Igor posted of the MKS... That picture makes it look a little sexy. Maybe the MKS will be a great looking car after all.
  4. The Focus doesn't look as strange in the picture on the thread. Maybe it is growing on me.
  5. Instead of calling Chrysler high performance cars SRT like Dodge, they could be called Plymouths. Just a thought.
  6. I don't believe this. Americans don't care about America and would buy a car built by the Taliban if it was sold here. Americans are brainwashed to believe everything made in America is the worst crap ever. The Chinese will come and kick ass. There are 2 types of American industry. 1. the ones who were taken over by foreign competition, and 2. the ones who weren't taken over yet.
  7. It would be a big mistake to not give Mercury a Freestyle/TaurusX. They need something in place of the missing minivan. They also don't have a large CUV while every other step up brand has one.
  8. 47 mpg in a deisel?!! Wow. I like that car and would love to see it here as a Mercury at least. If it was sent here you can bet that Car and Driver would still rank it behind every Japanese car in a comparison test just because it wears an Oval. But at least it would sell well to the Mercury crowd. I hope they can make a business case for this car as I don't think this would end up repeating the Contour's failure.
  9. O.K. I'm gonna comment on the MKS again. Just because I don't like the MKS look doesn't mean I think it's a bad car. I didn't really like my 1999 Sable's looks either, but I bought it based on the things I liked. The MKS is based on the 500 which I like, has 4 wheel drive which I like, and has a good v-6. No, I don't need a v-8. Didn't get one with my Mustang. I liked the 27 mpg I got driving it to Florida. Do I think the MKS is a bad car? How should I know. I haven't driven one yet. I have seen it in pictures and I still say Blah! All the babies crying about negative nancy's can kiss my... Well I don't want to end up in a penalty box. I am just saying I don't like the looks based on what I see so far. All the crying won't change my mind. I am open minded enough to say I won't totally write off the car based on looks. After all, open minded-ness gave me 7 happy years with my Sable- a car whose looks didn't impress me much.
  10. I like the Fusion better than the Mondeo. The Mondeo is a little bland, but that look is better on a smaller car. The MKS doesn't wear it as well. PS. Just because I don't like the MKS look doesn't mean I think it's a bad car. I didn't really like my 1999 Sable's looks either, but I bought it based on the things I liked.
  11. The Aveo based H5 must be in the planning stages right now!
  12. Love it or hate it, it makes a statement. It is the what the domestics need to do here.
  13. Quiet and Fast is better than silent, but deadly... Aw come on, we haven't had a fart joke here in a while.
  14. This is like a kid getting all B's on his report card after getting F's the on the last one. This is a good start.
  15. It doesn't say what the problems are either. We can't assume they are all engine failures. I had one problem with a creaky dashboard in my Mustang, but I love the car and want to keep it for 20 years! Of course it will become a weekend car and I'll get a Fusion or something in the meantime, so I can do my part to kep the economy humming. :shades:
  16. I posted the side by side shots of the MKS show and camo cars. The parts you can see look exactly the same! I don't hate it but, I also don't think the show car was a head turner either. I stand by my statement (Blah). It doesn't excite me like the Mustang, Fusion, Edge. MKX, MKZ, Milan or the Flex and MKR showcar. I like the new Taurus even, but this MKS does not excite me. I know what you are saying that maybe they did a little extra work on the covered up parts, but that is not going to change the overall character of the showcar (which my opinion is based). The new Taurus doesn't look like a radical departure from the Five Hundred. If you hated the Five Hundred's look, you won't like the Taurus (most likely won't like it I mean) I liked the 500 from the start. This MKS camo car looks like it has the same amout of changed bits as the Taurus had from the 500. For a luxury car, the look doesn't stand out. It looks like cars already out on the market, all of which don't appeal to me. If they wanted to make it resemble some other luxury car they could have at least made it look like an interesting one. If you don't like the word Blah, here's another word, Acuralexis-ish. It doesn't look like a Lincoln, and if they wanted a clean sheet design for a new image, that car doesn't do it. Richard, I hope you prove me wrong and this car is stunning. I will wait for it to come out before I make any further judgement on it.
  17. Agreed. Why do they even bother with the camo? We know what this will look like. It is a blander version of a bland concept. BLAH! Fast track the MKR please!
  18. You forgot MR2 and that the Echo replaced the Tercel. The Matrix name is also headed for the dustbin too.
  19. It looks like an old Torino wagon with a Dodge grille.
  20. I would go with a small b sedan, (Fiesta or Escort). I also see you are all for killing Mercury. I wouldn't. If you can sell a few more "trim level" Fords, then why not do it? I would like to see Mercury sell some unique cars improted from other markets, but if frod consolidates platforms, then that becomes a moot point.
  21. This doesn't change anything really. It is just for large trucks. Izusu retail Suv and Trucks will fade away soon.
  22. I hope the keep the RWD Impala. They could develop a FWD Caprice to sell along with this. If Ford goes with the Interceptor, then they will go that route by selling it along with a Taurus.
  23. If Ford for any reason doesn't expect it to be a success, then someone didn't do their job and make it the best product it should be. From what I see this is a great leap for Ford and they should expect great things from this.
  24. I have an idea. Make gen. 2 of the Taurus X the minivan.- Same platform, sliding doors, 4 wheel drive option.
