  1. They should have just left it Sport. Do they think being an ST will increase sales?
  2. Would love for this to be true but no matter how much we dream it just is not. As stated people want SUV/CUV not big cars. I would buy a Continental you describe just add a 5.2 L Voo Doo and a 6 speed manual and I am sold. Of course the odds of me hitting it big with the lottery and building my own are bigger than Ford ever building it.
  3. Does alienate = not buy another? If not, I don't think it is a problem how mustang fans feel. Lets not forget a Mustang is a Ford first and using cues from it to add excitement to other vehicles is a good idea if it helps people get excited about buying other "cool" Ford vehicles. Not sure how many people will feel the same as you but I would bet it is not as many as you think. Plus they will get over it. Also a Mustang owner and fan!
  4. To me all SUV/CUV's are wagons, tall ones yes but wagons just the same. People may think they aren't cool but SUV's are. Ironically it seems all the newest SUV's are actually getting lower and more "Wagon Like" anyway.
  5. Totally agree, Unfortunately once the idea is out there it becomes fact in most peoples minds. I bet if you did a survey 98% of people would say FWD is far superior to RWD in wet and snow conditions. Maybe Ford is intending to slot a FWD/AWD CUV in between Escape and Edge while moving Edge and Explorer up market a little.
  6. How, you listed 5 for each and from a purely visual standpoint the Edge grill update is easier to see including shape and grill look.
  7. The shape of the grill may not have changed much but the insert style has especially the ST giving it a different look. Definitely more change than the Fusion. I like the rotary dial Agreed it doesn't free up space which was an excuse to make it seem like a practical reason Autos were designed to emulate sticks but there is be reason for them to do that anymore but I do think they could free up console space by moving the dial elsewhere Ford probably didn't want to confuse the dim masses too much though. Probably will move when interiors get redesigned agajn

  9. I don't like using the Mach I name for a crossover. "Further crossovers with Mustang design cues and front-drive chassis are a strong possibility because they combine the best attributes of cars and utilities". First why mustang design cues? Second aren't crossovers utilities already? I am assuming by front drive chassis they mean with AWD versus the CD6 RWD chasis because FWD CUV's would be useless in today's market.
  10. I think the wagon is pretty cool looking. I see no reason that could not do well here. I see a ton of the Subaru wagons (admitted they are the only ones that seem to be able to sell a wagon, which I think it sells because it a Subaru). Just market it as a CUV and of course it must have AWD or forget it. Maybe actually have a marketing campaign at all for once.
  11. So if 80% of people wanted autonomius cars and the manufacturers decided it was cheaper to manufacture only autonomous or the government decided it was safer the 20% would not be unhappy about it?
  12. Your missing the point. I t is about the trend and not one model. Who knows what happens with even the GT in 10 years. I would assume most on this board love to drive, even though they don't care about a manual. What will you all be saying if cars were going to all autonomous. And laws were being considered to not allow drivers on public roads. Who would be complaining then? Well it would just be technology replacing what your input is no longer needed for like steering, accelerating and and braking. It is all being done better and more efficient so why are you complaining? Just sit there and enjoy the ride. Sucks doesn't it?
  13. I get it, the DCT is superior. But that's not the point. What gets me is the people who don't care about the manual thinking we should just shut up about the decline in options to get one and just be happy about it because it is old tech. Their almost glee in our pain. They don't understand the experience we enjoy. That's fine but why can't they accept that we enjoy the experience and have a little empathy for our loss. I think it is a little payback for some of the "not a real car if it is an auto" segment of the manual crowd. Some looked down on them for their choice then and are enjoying our pain now maybe. I admit outside of winning the lottery I will never buy a new GT500, and if the performance is better with the DCT it makes sense. In today's auto world there will be obviously less choice. So it all makes sense for Ford, but that doesn't mean we have to like it or take it quietly without making our voices heard.
  14. No the point is if the computer shifts it it is automatic does not matter what the mechanics of it are.
  15. Really!! If you just push the gas pedal will it shift? Yes? Sounds automatic to me.
  16. No the reason people like manuals is the control. I want to decide the gear AND interact with the car. Yes you can control the shifts with the paddles but no matter how superior in every other way they may be the feeling will never be the same. That is what people who don't care about that interaction will never get or care about. What gets me is I bet the majority of the naysayers have never driven a stick. Maybe if they did we could get a few converts. I will drive one until I cant push a clutch anymore, 85 or so maybe LOL!!
  17. Funny, I love the technological advances but I just looked at the RAM interior and I don't really like it. That being said I want a big screen in a new modern car. Maybe it would be better to use two screens so there can be a bend in the middle or figure out hoe to curve the screen. It is the big flat area that is the problem, on Tesla too. This is new and i am sure with each passing new design it will improve. I just hope Ford is not behind the curve with the design and technology. If they are not going to have entry level cars I think they need to draw in those moving up out of more base vehicles ans design and technology is important to the younger buyer i think.
  18. No how good it is or the advantages it holds it will never be the same. Of course you are correct with the reasons but that doesn't mean we have to like it. If someday in the future it was coming to pass that no one could driver anymore and only autonomous vehicles were allowed on the road a lot of people would be sad and pissed off, but hey its just progress. I guess i will have to take solace in the fact that when the manual disappears I can keep the last one i bought until i croak.
  19. I have no words for the blackness this brings to my soul. I am starting to believe that in my lifetime I will see a time with no manual transmission offered on any Ford.
  20. I want it with a manual (yeah I know) awd and a 5.2l v8 (OK a 4.0 v8 will do) but most likely would be a 3.0l v6 but I don't see it happening at all as a sedan anyway
  21. I LIKE IT. But if this was replacing the Fusion would Ford have said they had no plans for a replacement planned. Could this really be Fields "Whitespace" new "Silhouette" vehicle. Maybe. This as a RWD with even the 3.0 with 400hp might entice me away from a Mustang. But it must be a Fusion, Torino or any name not Mustang.
  22. I think the Freestyle problem was styling. Bland and more station wagon like than crossover. Also it basically duplicated the Explorer. Then turned into it and look what happened to the sales. Same basic platform but SUV styling.
  23. My question is would buyers be more likely to buy a four door mustang than a four door with the mustang power train and suspension but unique sheet metal and named Torino (or any other name)?
