    "Verify anecdotally" is an oxymoron anyway. I think what is helping Ford in CA is the type of vehicle that Ford is building now and the styling which competes much better with the imports than what they had over the last 20 years. And the good EPA mpg ratings.

    Once again, it's NOT POSSIBLE to "game" the EPA tests unless you're outright cheating and using different parts or code than what goes into production.

    How many times do we have to point out that the EPA tests were never intended to replicate "real world" driving? Prior to 2008 they didn't use the A/C at all.

    That part would be pretty hard to fake though. As opposed to whether it was a factory job or an aftermarket mod.

    Marauders had the DOHC 4.6L and it wouldn't be hard to swap a cobra engine. I'm just not sure it came from the factory.

    It it came from the factory it was a special police interceptor version. Then again, unless it came with factory paperwork I'd be mighty skeptical that it was a factory version.

    I assumed it was a mechanical/electrical limit and that 62 mph was pushing it to the limit since other mfrs were still down in the 40s. Very strange.

    You mean the one that's just a trim level on an existing sedan that's selling in decent numbers? As opposed to the SS which is a stand alone model in the U.S.? You really don't understand how sales and profits work, do you?

    No, it's not kosher if that is in fact what happened. I would ask the sales manager about it and see what date is on the paperwork. Unless they're helping you out with rebates or something like that I would make them change it since it affects your warranty and it could negatively affect your rebates. If they refuse just call Ford.

    Oh for Pete's sake - you CAN'T 'tune for the EPA test' at the expense of real world mpgs. Anything that helps the EPA test also helps real world fuel economy. Unless you think they're using different components or pcm code which is totally illegal.

    My guess would be the 3.5L and 3.7L get DI and Ford keeps the DI 3.5L while Lincoln gets the upgraded DI 3.7L:.
