  1. Not worth it. Premium isn't usually worth it either. Not enough of a benefit to outweigh the additional cost.
  2. I stopped reading when I saw this under the hideous picture of the RAM interior: Ram 1500’s emotive interior sets high standard.
  3. They do need standout styling but it doesn't have to be radical. I think the MKC concept was a perfect example and the MKZ just needs a few tweaks to the front end to get there. BTW - Max has 100% control over the MKC start to finish.
  4. Exactly. It's not like they're starving Ford to feed Lincoln. F150 and Mustang are underway now. Global Escape, Fiesta, Fusion and Focus are new in the last 3 years. New Transit on the way. New Taurus and Edge under development based on CD4.
  5. Frickin' ambulance chasers. Go sue the EPA, idiots. Better yet - throw the lawyers in jail for filing frivolous lawsuits.
  6. If it doesn't help sell vehicles then it's not a priority. And since they're selling every one they can make right now it probably won't be a priority until Flat Rock comes online. I'm sure they're working on it or looking at it. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it stupid.
  7. Lincoln's current performance should not be of concern to investors or anyone else at this point. It's way too early to predict success or failure and the fact that Ford is solidly profitable in NA right now makes it even less of an issue.
  8. Why would the factory sell a $1K HID option when the aftermarket kits are $50? Obviously there is a huge difference in quality but most people today don't care. I'm guessing they don't believe they'll get enough takers for the factory system and it's not worth the investment especially when LEDs are now being used on the MKZ. I would like to see them as an option but I can understand why they're not offering it.
  9. I'm not trying to be smug. I thought the answer was obvious so if it's not let me try again. The F150 sells 500K - 600K per year. It's a cash cow. Losing market share represents a considerable loss of profit for Ford. Likewise, gaining market share represents a considerable increase in profit. The cost to develop and certify the new drivetrains can be spread out amongst 500K vehicles making the cost per vehicle low. Contrast that to the Expedition which is low volume in a shrinking market. It's not going to drop dramatically without new engines and new engines are not going to dramatically increase sales. The cost per vehicle of new drivetrains is probably ten times that of the F150 because of the lower volume and therefore much harder to make up. Also remember that the new expedition based on the new F150 is just around the corner so any investment in the current model is a throwaway. There is also a potential issue with manufacturing volume of engines and transmissions - there may not be enough excess capacity to supply the Expy/navigator. That's why it's completely obvious why they would do this in the F150 but not in the current Expedition.
  10. Why would they put those on the Fusion when they're already on the MKZ and it's more of a luxury car feature?
  11. If you don't understand the difference between the Expedition and F150 regarding market share and sales volume then I can't help you.
  12. That's not accidental - you're locking the fob in the car on purpose by using the keypad. This disables the Fob from starting the car until the keypad is used to unlock it. That's how the feature is implemented. Leave one Fob in the car then try to lock it by touching the door handle with the other fob. It won't work. It honks the horn twice to let you know it can't lock the vehicle. RTFM.
  13. It's not hard to get the data - it's already available. It's just not a priority because of the low percentage of folks who actually order vehicles and want that type of tracking versus the time and cost to make it available. You'd have to front end it to interpret the information that is normally provided internally so it makes sense. It's not terribly difficult but it's more than just throwing up a web server. With other mfrs doing this I think it's just a matter of time before Ford offers it, although I'd expect to see it on Lincolns first as part of their "concierge" service.
  14. It's a technical limitation of the drivetrain. If it was easy to just "turn it off" or "turn it on" they would have already done it.
  15. They didn't "program" it to stay in EV mode under 60 mph. It used to be 42 or 47 mph and with the gen 3 hybrid system it rose to 60 mph. It's the limitation of the technology. If it were possible to make it higher they would have. That's why the competition is still in the 40's.
  16. I bought a brand new Acura Integra 3 door hatchback in early 1987. It was a leftover 1986 model (first model year) that they couldn't sell. Acura was still very new and hadn't caught on yet. It was a fun little car but it was really no different than the Accord or Civic. In fact I passed up a CRX to buy it because it had a bigger discount.
  17. What Nick said. You can't accidentally lock the fob in the car - it won't let you.
  18. I'm sure some dealerships do it correctly but I've seen many dealerships where they have some teenager doing the carwash with a sponge creating spider swirls and all kinds of paint damage. It all comes down to whether you trust the dealer or not and I would not automatically assume the dealership is washing the vehicle the correct way and not causing damage.
  19. Why on earth would you let a dealership touch your car? Most do more damage than good using incorrect equipment and techniques.
  20. I know. I was talking about how the keyfob works, not how autolock works. Sorry.
