It's a freakin' terrible situation. But there is a difference between ineptness/lack of testing and getting burned by a contractor and not having a backup plan.
I guarantee they won't make that mistake again - at least as long as Mulally is there.
Once again you are absolutely incorrect. Ford DID proper testing of MFT and they knew exactly how bad it was before they released it. There was no lack of testing whatsoever.
A Ford employee told me at one time before launch there were 1500 known bugs.
And as we've already pointed out at least a million times - they did not have a backup plan for the 2011 Edge and new Explorer so they were stuck between a rock and a hard place with no good options.
The real failure was that they did not have a backup plan.
Ok, maybe it's not a million times - maybe it's only a few hundred thousand.
I think downsizing will also save weight. And I'm sure we'll get some new EB powertrains with start/stop that should really help fuel economy.
Now cue all the "EB sucks in the F150 now" crowd.........
The 2000 Lincoln LS built in 99 had aluminum suspension, aluminum fenders, hood and trunk lid and I've never heard of any issues. Jaguar has been doing entire bodies in aluminum for years. I don't think it's an issue.
My daughter's non-EB Focus has no vibrations that I've been able to discern.
Edit - not even from that stupid piece of crap never works right shakes the car to death DCT transmission.
No reason why an EB I4 would be any different.
This isn't 1995 any more.
Oh. I thought you meant 3rd EB engine for Ford overall, that's why I listed the 1.6L EB from the Fusion. If you're talking about just for CD4 then it's the 3rd one.
What changed is that Ford is no longer overproducing vehicles so you don't end up with that end of model year glut that requires huge incentives to get off the lots. You might get lucky and find a straggler here or there with larger than normal incentives but it's nothing like it used to be.
Everything I've seen says "employee pricing" is the A plan price, although it typically replaces other incentives, especially rebates. So actual A plan plus rebates might be better than "employee pricing" without rebates or with reduced rebates.
It will be interesting to see how it competes performance wise with the MkZ. If the ATS is lighter then it should have an advantage, otherwise the specs seem virtually identical except for the non-AWD models driven wheels.
The styling is decent inside and out but all those "BMW 3 fighter" comments are going to come back to haunt them with every road test.
You had a defective tranny and your dealer refused to acknowledge it and you refused to go to another dealer. Then you went out and bought a Corolla and proclaimed it the best vehicle ever. Then because you had problems you start telling everyone that all Focus' have tranny problems. They don't. I own one. Other people here own one. They're not defective and with the latest software there have been NO complaints that I've seen or heard of.
Get over it already or be labeled accordingly.
