  1. This. ^^ SVT is a separate division that re-engineers the production vehicle to specific standards. ST is just an option built into the existing program.
  2. Normally you would put your order in with the dealer and they would send it to Ford. Ford does scheduling each week (on Thursday I think) so each Friday you can see what's been scheduled to be built. It depends on what else the dealer has on order and how much they're allocated by Ford and whether Ford has the parts/colors being requested. Sometimes What the dealer is trying to do is change an existing order that's already in the pipeline. If it hasn't been scheduled it could be the color or options or dealer allocation or priority, etc. It will be faster to use the existing order. All you need to do is wait for it to be scheduled.
  3. No it won't. Whatever the MKZ has or doesn't have won't tell us anything. The MKZ will most certainly get better powertrains than the Fusion but that doesn't mean the Fusion ST (top end model) can't have the same engine or same power level as the base MKZ. There will be a Fusion ST - it's virtually guaranteed. And there is no reason for them to announce it right now. Fuel economy is way more important.
  4. Jelly is the only person I've ever had on my ignore list. In this case ignorance is bliss. If people would just stop quoting him..........
  5. That's been known for months. It started with the Sonata and Regal.
  6. Mulally and Kuzak and Fields have been saying 100% unique sheetmetal for Lincoln for quite some time. I would be shocked if they actually share any sheetmetal. I bet they're unique but similar - you can't make huge changes.
  7. Somebody mentioned 2 hybrid powertrains somewhere on another forum. If that's what Austin was referring to it's got me scratching my head a bit - unless one is a plug-in.
  8. I owned both a 3.9L AJV8 and a 4.6L 4V and trust me - that Jag V8 is silky smooth compared to the 4.6 (or most any other V8). You really can't appreciate it until you've owned one.
  9. Several members of the Lincoln LS Owner's Club got to ride in the prototype mule. They said it was a blast. They said it was a suspension piece but it could have been shock towers. Just think where Lincoln would be now if Mulally had been there back in 2000.
  10. That was a big part of it IMO. The 4.6 would fit in the bay but it couldn't be installed from the bottom due to one of the aluminum suspension pieces therefore not feasible for assembly line. The AJV8 was super smooth but expensive and limited. Incidentally - there were at least 2 LS with the 4.6L engine. One was a test mule at the Ford test track and the other was built by a bunch of Ford engineers to compete in the Car and Driver One Lap of America competition in 2004-ish. It had a Roush supercharged 4.6L. Interesting side note: And who said Panthers aren't useful?
  11. Don't see those very often. Is it a work truck?
  12. Colors? Options? Engine? Details!!!!!
  13. Outside of waiting for a leftover previous model year vehicle where you might get an additional $1k - $3K in rebates - not really. A plan is the same price regardless of when and where you buy it so the only difference is rebates. And with Ford controlling inventory levels you just don't see the huge rebates any more on most models - especially on leftovers. If you're not in a hurry you could wait and watch the incentives but if you're in the market now I wouldn't worry about it.
  14. That's the same strategy that almost put Mitsubishi out of the car business a few years ago with their 0-0-0 plan - $0 down, $0 interest and 0 payments for 12 months (not that it would have been a huge loss). It was a great strategy for sales - until the owners had to actually start making payments (and didn't). Cost Mitsubishi $454M in 2003 to write off those bad debts and almost put them out of business. I think the quote at the time was something to the effect "Apparently we were selling vehicles to people that couldn't pay for them." Duh!
  15. Ford will most certainly lose most of the sales volume battles but they'll be crying all the way to the bank. Focus - $20,827 ATP x 175,717 = $3.7B Revenue Corolla - $16,400 ATP x 240,259 = $3.9B Revenue Revenue is almost the same and I guarantee Ford is making more profit on $20K Focii than Toyota is making on $16K Corollas. Which would you rather be selling?
  16. It was listed as a new color for 2012 also. Either it was temporarily removed or it's just a typo.
  17. I think they're in between the Escape and Edge.
  18. Remember that Ford does a lot of stateside testing for non-U.S. vehicles.
