  1. Isn't JAC the partner of Ford Joint venture in China. I remember Transit are made by Ford JAC. By the way, If Chevy, Dodge, Toyota and Nissan can not copy F-150 successfully, no one can copy F-150. F-150 is too good to be copied
  2. If Ford can make the side view of Flex attractive, it will be a perfect car/truck/SUV
  3. Ford actually has a very important design studio in Irvine california. The beautiful Taco bell building in Irvine was used to be the heardquarter of Ford's lincoln, volvo, Jaguar, Landover, and so on. Ford sold it to Taco bell and re-leased back partial of the building as its design studio. Here is a brief introduction: http://auto.ocregister.com/2009/07/21/ford-offers-rare-peek-into-design-studio-heres-what-we-saw/ I was in Irvine last Christmas. I saw so many Edge and Flex there. In front of a Asian Grocery store, I saw three edge. One of the owner, who is a Asian, told me that he works for Taco Bell headquarter and he is always amazed by some Ford concept car he encoutered near that building. One of the concept is Lincoln C car.
  4. I don't understand why it is so important for a car maker to be the world largest car seller. The ultimate goal for a firm is to maximize the long term value of the firm. Many GM's Chinese partner's cars sold in China can only be defined as golf carts. No doubt why VW complaint.
  5. I think it is time to bring Ecosport to North America.
  6. Based on the author's opinion, what is the point to buy a Lexus while there is a cheap Toyota over there.
  7. I think Lewis has CFA, Chartered Financial Analyst from UK. But he was a engineering before he entered into financial sector. Smart people learn from everywhere. Field is a MBA from Harvard, Hinrich is also a MBA from Harvard, Alane is a MBA from MIT.
  8. I could barely find a Ford fusion in any car rental company except those in Airport of LA and Vegas. All I goet were Nissan Altima, Chevy malibu. So where did all those Ford fleet Fusion end up with?
  9. I agree with you. People who bought Focus knew that Focus was more expensive than Corolla was. They still bought it becauce they like Focus, which means FoMoCo get better consumer surplus from Ford buyer. Other people bought Corolla because they knew corolla was cheaper, so Toyota got less consumer surplus from Toyota buyer. I guess many Ford buyers regard Ford cars as Mercury equivalents.
  10. I think one reason is the economy. We have been in this poor economy for 5 years. Jobless rate has been in 8 to 9% for severals years. People start to think why the economy is like what it is now. We can blame other countries for sucking all of our jobs away. But if everyone in this country could have kept buying American made, jobs would have been kept from moving away. So everyone should be blamed for this job lossing situation. Now I think some people realized this and start to buy US brand merchandize.
  11. Small car's owners are very stubborn. They have been brain washed by Japanese for decades.
  12. 250811 units from only one platform. Amazing
  13. I think kids will love it. It looks like a Nemo.
  14. I think many rooms in Hyatte Regency in Dearborn have already been reserved by local, national and international journalists. There are many other hotel in Dearborn, such as the Dearborn Inn, A Marriott Hotel; Double tree near Ford road. There will be no snow in next few days, so it is really worth to visit Dearborn. Beside Rouge Plant tour and Henry Ford Museum, you can also visit Ford Estate, where you can see the only in house hydro-electric generators, very cool.
  15. I am just back from my trip to southern California. To my surprise, Flex is a popular car in those rich areas such as Irvine, Long beach and Huntington Beach. Even in Beverly hill, I still saw many Flex in front of those multi-million houses. Most of the Flex that I saw are high end Flex. I don't expect Ford loss money by selling Flex to those rich people. I participated a behind scenes tour in TV show of desperate house wives, I saw that Flex used in the show. Very neat!
  16. No, Kim Jong Il is a Mercedes guy. But his father, the former former dictator only rode Ford car, actually Lincoln car. The successor of Kim Jong Il is his last son. The successor looks very much like his grandfather. This is the reason why he could be selected as successor. Something like his grandfather's resurrection. By the way, North Korea's capital was once the east Asian's Jerusalem before communism took power, and Christinanity is the only religion allowed in North Korea right now. So this successor has to show that he has all of his grandfather's habits, including Ford car. Based on this, I agree with you that, as long as this successor pretended to be rebirth of his grandfather, Ford car should have market in that country. But point is that no one in that country is affordable for even a Tata. So let's expect North Korea make order of 100 Lincolns per year.
  17. I guess Ford may export Ka from Brazil to Russia, Indai, China, or South Africa. BRICS may sign free trade agreement soon.
  18. The last Ranger is sold to terminate pest! Terminator ranger is terminated
  19. Great. I wish it can be a constant growning dividend. Guess GM will not pay dividend until all of gorvenment's share can be sold or bought back. Proud to be an American because we are independent. Ford proves this.
  20. Why don't they keep the name of Econoline? Killing a decades old brand name is not good
  21. Christmas is coming, we need better joke! Here is a one. The pharmaceutical company Merck will merge with Ford motor company, so that Ford can sell a premium car called Merck. And Merck can sell a antiviral drug called Lincoln. Due to some unknown reason, Ford mis-spell Merck as Merc, both companies believe that Merc is a better name than Merck is, so they decide to call it Merc.
  22. What you said just remind me an interesting thing happened after Thanksgiving. I worked in Ann Arbor, MI. One of my colleagues is an Asian guy. He always drives my Ford fusion to buy dry ice for our department. Reason? My fusion has much bigger trunk than his civic. So it was last week, he routinely drove my Fusion to our local dairy store to buy dry ice. After the owner helped him to move the dry ice to the trunk of my fusion, he said to my colleague "I want to give you a box of fresh made donuts", My colleague asked him why? The owner said "Happy holiday and thanks for buying an American car". My colleague came back, gave everyone the donuts and told us the story. Finally he said "I hate this race discrimination." Everyone looked at him and shocked. I just don't understand how he could understand this as a "race discrimination." The bad thing is that now I have to pickup the dry ice by myself.
