On paper it is more powerful, however in real world environments a big V8 lumbering along is: 1. Going to last a lot longer than a high strung V6 2. Is actually more powerful in useful powerbands A 2.0 ecoboost has more horesepower on paper than a 97 460 big block had, does anyone actually think that the 2.0 is "more powerful"? Put 8,000 lbs behind a V6 Transit and the same weight behind a 5.4 Econoline and I think we all know which one will be getting there a lot faster.

I think that if we have not already seen a stock up we will soon. This is a terrible mistake from Ford to switch from a proven North American design to light duty Euro junk. No metal bumpers on a work van? No real frame? No V8? and not a whole lot of ground clearance. Wait and see how much share GM and Nissan gain from this coming screw up.

Manual Transfer Case available across Super Duty Line (Lariats)
94bronco replied to 94bronco's topic in Ford: Wish List
Good to know that it is not shift on the fly anymore. I swear Ford doesn't want to offer the Manual set up anymore and is pushing us all to the Electronic. Nothing to do with flat towing for me, I just always liked the manual set up that is bulletproof compared to an electronic setup. -
My list of wants/requirements for the next gen Super Duty are: 1. Solid Front Axle must stay or I will buy a Dodge. 2. Larger Gas motor option (7.0?) or bring the V10 back. 3. Manual Transfer Case available on Lariat trims again. 4. No fancy stop start junk or new complex technology to increase MPG, Keep that to the F150 and leave SD as a true truck. 5. Door pockets in the rear door, My 02 had these but somehow 12 does not. 6. Sport package offered with body colored bumpers and trim. Overall I still like the current platform but it is getting a bit long in tooth, I hope Ford leaves the SD as a real truck with the F150 available for those prefer more car like features. (Dodge has been doing this with their HD's, not many people buy a HD truck care about fuel mileage).

Official - Super Duty to get 800 lb-ft

Nice numbers but It's too bad they are making this engine in Mexico, I find it rather bothersome that they are building a motor that is almost a 9k option in Mexico! -

Obama seeks fuel efficiency standards for large trucks
94bronco replied to jpd80's topic in Competing Products
Just another example of the government trying to control the market, This will bring the death of Classic Style Trucks ( Real Trucks) and will help out Companies like Volvo who build Aero trucks while just about shutting down Peterbilt. No one wants to ride around in an Aero trucks and even though the Classics (Pete 389 & Kentworth W900) use more fuel they make up for it at resale time as the Classics hold up much better over the long run that Aero trucks ( Why most owner opperators still buy Classic Style Trucks). These Assholes (Politicians) will tell you about the fuel savings till your ears bleed but won't mention the fact that the truck price will just keep going up and up. -
Proud Scott Brown voter here! I never thought in my life we would elect a Republican Senator in this state ( He is no RINO either)

Well said, The Expedition EL is a very weak replacement for the Excursion

Preview: 2011 Ford Super Duty

All I can say is long live the 7.3 Powerstroke! They might not be the fastest but they will always get you there -
http://www.truckseries.com/cgi-script/NCTS...0064/006470.htm Good story of SD's in military duty here, I am sure it was posted back in 06 but figured I would bring it up again.
-
You are not going to find many 7.3's with under or around 50k as most people hold on to them or they were just plowed with if they have 50k, I would not be afraid to go with a 7.3 with over 100k as they are extremely reliable powerplants that go for 300k and more with proper care, Now a 6.0 with 100k I would run away from ( Actually I would run away from any 6.0) as if it has not had the headgaskets, egr cooler, and turbo done yet it will more than likely eventually need them and most certainly before 200k without an act from god. I have found that a 7.3 with 200k will be more reliable than a 6.0 with 100k. Just think about why there are so many 6.0's on the market for cheap, I faced this same dilema a couple months ago as I was finding 6.0's newer and cheaper than 7.3's with lower miles but waited it out and got a well taken care of 7.3 that I am confident will take me to 300k and beyond if I desire.

What happened to global warming?
94bronco replied to sprinter's topic in Lounge: Off Topic Discussion
And they keep pulling more and more bullshit out of their asses! First it was straight up Global Warming was going to melt us all witin 10 years Next they started to call it climate change so that way when the weather did what it wanted to ( as it alwasy does) they could blame it on us And now that it is clearly not getting warmer but instead cooler we can get ready for a massive World ending warming after?? Environmentalism= Recycled Communism -
Ford confirms F-150 Ecoboost V6
94bronco replied to Hydro's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
To clarify the blow out problem Ford thought it was a couple issues until they finally figured it out, For the 02 and some 03's they thought that it was improper torquing on the assembly line and revised the manufacturing and assembly process but they were still blowing out plugs. Then they finally realized that it was from a shortage of threads and doubled up to 8 threads and solved the problem for the 04 model year SD's and some late 03's had the revised head also. -
I was thinking more along the line of an Academy award for his leading role in "How to drive a Country into the ground".
-
So no one likes my idea lol?
-
I will say it looks better than the current ones but not nearly as good as the 99-04's, Thankfully they kept the SFA axle too albeit with the crappy coil spring set up. The 6.7 should be an interesting motor and hopefully emissions don't screw it up too much.

http://special-reports.pickuptrucks.com/20...king-ranch.html There is a pic of the new fenders up here and also a video that shows them, I actually like them a lot.

Yea no shit, I have driven more than enough 5.4 Superduty's and find myself with the foot to the floor with the engine sounding like it's going to blow up and am still getting passed by other cars.

A million protest against 'Obama the socialist'
94bronco replied to sprinter's topic in Lounge: Off Topic Discussion
The 2010 elections are going to be the saving grace of this country, Obama will not be able to inflict too much more damage before then ( hopefully) and the American public has woken up to the propaganda machine that is the Obama administration and the Democrat party. They won't even be able to ram through Cap and tax or any ridiculous healthcare plan before then so things are not looking soo bad right now. These wacky liberals need to stop calling themsevles "progressives" and just call themselves what they are which is power hungry socialist's who are 100% anti American.
