Just wondering if anyone has tried filing for unemployment for week ending 9-27-20 for the layoff week we had here at DTP? I tried to file and it became a real headache. It does not appear to be an employer filed claim, the site wants a bunch of info that I do not recall having to enter as: Employer ID #, Full name, whether I am an alien from a foreign country, I had to manually input a date for the week in question, and a lot of other bs. I cancelled before going too far because the site starting asking about work searches and other issues not associated with the normal Employer Filed Claim that I/we have been accustomed to in the past when a layoff has a firm return to work date. If anyone has any info, please post. THX

They (Ford) wanted to get Medicare eligible retirees to get on Medicare, which would be bolstered by a supplement to make it top-notch and as good as the benefits Ford provides. The govt. is off the hook on paying their health care obligation because Ford is taking care of the Medicare eligible retirees on their dime instead of the Government. This plan was talked about briefly and was in the newspaper, news, media, etc. as the 2007 negotiations were just beginning and the idea was brushed off quickly by the UAW negotiators. UAW was more than happy to manage the multi-billion dollar VEBA, though. Ford would of taken care of anyone not Medicare eligible with the existing Ford retiree health care.

I remember back in 2007, Ford wanted to cancel the health insurance to retirees BUT Ford was offering a top-end supplement or a 5-10,000$ voucher/debit card to cover any shortages from Medicare. The U.S. govt. has done nothing to help the domestic auto industry and they have raked us over the coals. During the bailout hearings and in the terms of loans they have given GM and Chrysler, it was a stark contrast to the way they tip-toed around the thieves in suits that received HUNDREDS OF BILLION$$$$. So, why are we and Ford Motor still giving the govt. a free pass on all the obligations they owe us already? We should possibly re-examine our position of doing the govt. a HUGE Favor and letting them off-the-hook for what they Should Be Paying Ford retirees for health care. Ford, paying for health care that all the retirees have ALREADY paid for by many years of payroll deductions, seems STUPID. If Ford was willing to Gold-Plate the standard Medicare benefits with top-shelf supplement coverage or a 5-10,000$ per year medical debit card and the end result was coverage equal to or even better than the standard FORD retiree health care package which seem to be constantly changing for the worse - I think it should have been looked at very carefully. Why the hell was it not even further evaluated? That would of put a Huge Chunk of the retiree health care cost on the govt. where it rightfully belongs, and Ford would be saving BILLION$$$. As long as the retirees don't lose anything, and they receive the same benefits while saving FORD Billions, sounds like a good idea to me. The govt. has not been doing us many favors, so why should we do the govt. any favors? Relieving the govt. of tens of billions of dollars in health care obligation cost is a Huge Favor that I do not think they deserve or FORD can afford to pay unnecessarily. With savings that big for FORD in retirees health care, Maybe, the active workers would not be subjected to so many of the ridiculous concession demands being put on us. I feel the Union was drooling all over a deal to control BILLION$$$ for health care - many obvious reasons there. They poo-poo'd a possibly Excellent arrangement to save FORD an enormous amount of money on retiree health care, while giving retirees the same or better coverage. The big winners ended up being the UAW Brass and the U.S. govt. The Active workers became the really big losers.

Pure rumour, but from a source who is usually correct in regard to rumours. Ford is trying to get SUB reduced to cover 70% of a lost wage week. If true, it is better than losing SUB completely as being discussed at GM and Chrysler but less than what we are currently recieving. :reading:

Sorry about that... depends on where you end up. Jobs on the door line, trim lines, box line, chassis, and possibly final assembly will keep you very busy with only a very few semi-easy jobs around. Engine, fuel tank, paint, body, stamping, diversified I heard had more better jobs available - still alot of toughies but lots of the better jobs will be filled when you get there. You will have to take what you get but jobs for bids come up you can sign up for probably a couple a month in labor. Be prepared to work hard and bide your time for a better job when it comes up. I've been in trim since 4/07 and still on a tough job with no end in sight - and I have 13 years plus. Some of the higher seniority people 17-25 years sen. that I arrived with from Wixom and NAP managed to get better jobs after a year or so on the standard tough jobs at DTP. Be prepared to be patient and work hard for awhile without being a pain to mgmt., keep your attendance and disciplinary record clean and you should be able to get a better job in a year or so. It's not really so bad at DTP, you'll be alright.

At the bottom of the letter there were 2 contacts you could call: Amy Goeller (313) 392-7211 and Jay Gazzarato (313) 392-7162. I called Amy on friday and she said that they are still allowing the $1500 per student scholarships to go through for all periods up to and including this latest semester that started in January 09 as long as they recieve it by January 31 and it is filled out properly. I told her I would be sending out an completed application today (friday) and she said it should go through no problem. She did make a point though that if they did not recieve it by 1-31 or there was ANY problem or requirement that went unmet, it would not go through and they're not cutting anybody any slack. So, you should have time to get it done if you move quickly.

I think you are onto something real, CSMJ, it is in our best interest to make a concession to help the CO. with the bottom line and show the average joe working for a pittance wage that we are losing too. I would be willing to cut my pension since I am not so sure it will be there when I am due and at the same time, the wall street crooks will not have as much action on that money. In the meantime I don't want my wage and benefits fucked with and I would rather get compensation now instead of hoping something like a pension would be solvent and available in 20 years. All credit starts at the federal reserve (which encouraged lending in all areas so we could all dig our graves) which is a non federal entity - the ownership is private and secret with no reserves since it does not need reserves because it prints it's own fiat money. 95% of all politicians are lawyers on a power trip who could easily make more money in private practice than being a public servant for a pittance wage. It seems Very Clear that the Only reason they get into politics is to get paid even BiggerBucks to be a professional influence peddler to the highest bidder... in other words, they are WH#$ES and would sell out to anyone if the price is right and regardless of whether society is hurt or not. Much cost and harm is deflected to society and the taxpayers by corporations and other powerful interests and the influence peddling politicians only represent themselves and their interests. For instance, a recent gallup poll stated that 74% (probably even higher than that and the elite love to fudge numbers to fit their cause) of Americans are against the war in Iraq but yet the self-serving influence-peddling politicians who are supposed to be represantives of our opinions just do what they (and the people paying them, threatening them, etc) want to do. Both parties are essencially the same in the the most important area and that is those 2 parties are controlled by the same PuppetMasters, and that is exactly the way PM's like it. As long as we think we have a choice, we are content to a point but have you ever wondered why we are always voting for the best of 2 lousy choices and not too excited about either? I believe the capitalistic political system we have in the U.S. is corrupt beyond imagination and the U.S. citizens are the workhorse they exploit for the gain of the politicians, corporations, rich fat cats, and others. Those same politicians that allowed us to into a 12 Trillion Dollar Debt to foriegners will sell us all out to the foriegners who will soon own us lock, stock, and barrel. I read recently in the Investors Business Daily that foriegn govts. and investors will be shying away from our paper and begin buying U.S. Hard Assets such as real estate, toll roads, infrastructure such as bridges and soon we will be renting from and paying the foriegners for us to live in our own country. What scares the the power structure the most is having politicians elected that don't play the same old game that has been played for way too long. At the end of the day if I'm not truly happy for the candidate I voted for and I'm only voting for the least of 2 evils, then the scumbags at the top who had it all figured out, Have Won Again. They love to tell us that voting for a third party is a wasted vote, BUT technically a third party can win with a little over 1/3 of the vote not 50% and that scares the criminals-at-top Big Time. The way I see it, the only way to break the stranglehold on our choices and get out of the rut they keep steering us to is to vote for the Best candidate regardless of whether you think they have a chance or not. As the viability of the 3rd party increases election after election, eventually 34-35% of the votes will be enough to win and we can start booting the crooks out of our govt. and into prison or to the the firing squad.

What I think this country needs is an underpinning of thought that dictates that every member of society should be made useful no matter what. No more prisoners laying around sucking up oxygen and billions of our tax dollars - put them to work repaying their debt to society on anything that needs improvement including civil engineering projects, road work, picking up litter, improving our parks, etc. Same thing for anyone on govt. assistance. No work - No free bridge card, food stamps, section 8, NOTHING. The media and particularly the dumb box tv media definitely keep us informed of matters of relatively low mentality, brainless programming that keeps our heads in the sand so we don't see the freight train run over our rears. Funny how hollywood keeps re-making movies already made over and over continually updating them to conform to new politically correct and socialological mindsets they want us to conform to. I read a book 15 years ago called "Behold a Pale Horse"by William Cooper (who correctly predicted his own death by our govt.) and worked at the council on foriegn relations and spilled the beans about how a new world order would be ushered in. Mass media and education had to be dumbed down to the level of a 4rth grader and that we would be steered into being irresponsible in our personal spending and just about every aspect of our lives. You cannot have a NWO with huge disparities in quality of life among all the nations of the world and the plan was to radically reduce the quality of life in the USA (Nafta, GATT, Globalism, etc came along) by artificially improving the lower achiever countries who would benefit and we would meet at a happy medium. The idea was to run America into the ground with DEBT causing the collapse of our country.
