  1. I would just like to go on record as saying she is not in my district and I did not vote for her.
  2. Mmmmm - that sounds good. I think I will go to Chipotle for lunch today.
  3. I had a Big Mac for lunch and I am not feeling so well now . . .
  4. You are right sir. Bill Ford, despite any shortcomings he may have had, did for Ford what Henry II did after WWII with the Whiz Kids. Just in a different way. Me too. I actually start off with generic pork and beans and - well, there is teriyaki sauce involved, and . . .
  5. Meh - who knows. My gut says GM is in worse shape than Chrysler at the moment. Chrysler is at least manageable, being the smallest of the Big 3. GM - who would want to take on that mess? This whole thing still reeks.
  6. It's not anything really unusual. I recall a year or so ago a Ford dealership near LA was doing something similar with leftover Excursion or maybe Exhibitions and giving away a Focus or something. Nevertheless, Avengers are just nasty. I used to think they looked better than Focus - but I was wrong.
  7. I suddenly feel the need to throw some burgers on the grill. I wonder if Duke, the Bush's Beans dog actually eats those?
  8. Not so much, outside of the occasional Notel Motel we might occasionally find ourselves forced to check in to. But if they have them hey - Brillo rocks in keeping my kitchen utensils looking sparkling clean. I mean, hotels give away Q-Tips as well. Great for detailing ones car.
  9. Strange. Every hotel I have stayed at had complimentary soaps, shampoos, lotions, kleenex, tp and shower caps but never Brillo pads. I feel cheated.
  10. There is just something about it that just seems off - I can't put my finger on it. It almost looks like they put it in a compactor, squished the nose a bit and put an Alero rear end on it. I dunno - reserve judgment until I see it in person.
  11. Oops - thought I was in the Milan thread. Honest mistake.
  12. Now I ask you - which is more interesting? Ramblings of a socialist takeover of the car companies OR The longest gap to the conclusion of a response AND Pictures of Tom Brady getting sacked and dancing on a golf course? This thread has everything! :reading:
  13. I like that one. I'll use that as a backup to this gem Why do I feel like wings are going to sprout and he is just going to fly away?
  14. Damn, you beat me to it. I was going to post my fav: This is no more a "bailout" or socialist move than Chrysler's '79 government loan. Ford will pay it back.
  15. That's easy. Ford is taking the right path. As much as I personally think Ford could benefit by taking over Dodge and dropping the pathetic Mercury line at least they are playing this cool and not relying o a lot of "what ifs" and future assumptions and hoping for two government loans in making business decisions. Ford has also made some o.k. strides in their lineup as well as a good showing in increasing quality - I am hoping the updated Taurus, Mustang and Fusion will be a huge shot in the arm coming up as well as the Eco Boost. And I think it is way too early to discount Flex (although I have yet to see ONE - even with a bar code in the window, ANYWHERE in the Bay Area!) That and there WILL be backlash. My dad, an ardent 300/Charger fan is already looking for alternatives if this merger goes through. I sent him the MKS website and told him to wait for the Eco Boost. :shades:
  16. PT Cruiser 'vert will be a collectible. Retro Birds have already started becoming collectible. I agree about the Solstice, Sky, G8 and GTO as well.
  17. I agree. The '77-'79 and '83-'88 Thunderbird/Cougars were awesome. Offer an eco-boost engine in them - they would sell. Thunderbird name is not soiled. Cougar - a bit after the Mazda Cougars - but redeemable :shades:
  18. I don't like to quote and then address so here are are my responses: retro-man - I agree with you. This car has been the biggest headache I have ever owned. It starts when it wants to - nobody can figure out why. I have officially been told it "has a gremlin." It has just cut out on the Interstate and the bridge with no reason whatsoever. The actuary has gone out at about 20K miles so my remote key doesn't work anymore. The transmission makes me wish I owned a Chrysler. The upholstery sucks and it needs replaced at 30k miles but they are charging $700 for each seat because it was specialty. All for $40k dollars that the thing cost. And yet, I still love it. :shades: Mark Five I agree with you to a point. The Mustang II saved the Mustang. Brilliant move on Iaccoca's part as far as I am concerned. And I had an '87 Cougar - great Fox bodied car - one of my favs. The 80-82's sucked, you are right. The Thunderbird name still has cache. Ford hasn't really screwed the name up, outside of possibly the '67-69's. So c'mon - GM and Chrysler are FU'd at this point. Bring out a new Thunderbird along the lines of what the 300 used to be, cause Taurus isn't cutting it anymore. Too much damage to the name.
  19. One of the biggest fu's in Ford history is how they treated the Thunderbird. No actually, the biggest - Taurus is #2. I am amazed that Mustang still exists - successfully - after the way they bungled the Thunderbird nameplate. I love my Retrobird. As I have said continually in the past, what car can you point to where 6 years after it's introduction strangers will come up to you in a parking lot or yell from you on the street "Hey, nice car" and want to talk about it? Sheesh, the head of our law firm told me personally that he is jealous and loves my car (he drives an old Allante). In another year or so, Spike becomes a garage king and is not leaving. :shades: But, the Retrobird is not the way Ford should have gone. The original '55-'57's were halo cars. McNamara got it right with the introduction of the Squarebird in '58 as a "Personal Luxury Car" - a formula which worked well for many years and created a new market. A risky move but one Ford owned until the Riviera and Toronado came along. Instead of killing the nameplate in '97-'98 and then coming out with something fun but impractical and very expensive for a Ford nameplate for the everyday consumer, they should have done what Chrysler did with the 300 and created a kick ass car with power and some luxury that would become Ford's top of the line vehicle. Instead they killed it, screwed up the Taurus and walked away from another market. This is what the Thunderbird should have become: I take this a little personally in case you didn't realize it after reading my rant. :reading:
  20. This news is as big as if Ford announced they discontinued Mercury. :reading: Not surprised tho.
  21. It appears you can get it on Amazon. Tho why you would need a personal lubricant to work on your car is a little perverted IMHO! :o Elbow Grease
  22. Good point - that is what the '02-'05 Thunderbirds have. Unless Eco Boost would mess with one in the windsheld as well somehow?
  23. Whaaah? Pontiac, GMC and Buick are dead brands, consistently selling below Chrysler/Dodge. I mean, Chrysler is more alive than Buick, Pontiac, GMC and Mercury combined. The new line, if they want to keep U.S. customers should be: Chevy Saturn Dodge Chrysler Caddy Jeep.
  24. One of the most beautiful skyscrapers in the world. Not because it has anything to do with Chrysler - it just is. :shades: GM is blowing smoke. Unless they say they are getting rid of Buick, Pontiac and GMC Trucks, this is all BS that they can deal with the addition of absorbing Chrysler. Ford really needs to push now on new models and not the "wait a few years" mantra. Because there are gonna be a lot of pissed Mopar fans that will not buy GM and will look to Ford. Or Toyota. Time to bring back the Thunderbird. :shades:
  25. Yeah, I didn't agree with all Miss Davis' politics but she did a huge service during WWII. And anyone Hollywood millionaire that would order a Mustang when she could have whatever she wanted well - that's aces in my book. :shades: Back to topic please?
