  1. That's the downside of taking a vehicle not originally a hybrid and making it a hybrid. You shove the battery wherever it would fit. I've cursed many a time when I'd get a leaky tire on my CMAX because I don't have a spare, the high voltage battery is there. The new Escape has a battery that is physically much smaller. If the battery was that small in the CMAX, there would be no cargo space issues. It's amazing how small they can make things as technology gets better. Mine isn't the plug-in variety, but I needed to haul a 40 gallon hot water tank home, and it actually fit in my CMAX hybrid. Had an inch to the back window, but I was impressed. I'll be holding on to my car for a few more years.
  2. I understand the new one is a 2.5 L. I was responding to the comment above saying the 2.0L was underpowered. I have one in my CMAX and don't think it is underpowered. The total combined hp of the 2.0L is 188hp and the standard hybrid 2.5L is 200 HP. A modest increase.
  3. If I was in the market for a new car, the Escape hybrid would be my first choice, considering I have a 2015 CMAX hybrid, which I absolutely love. I would have to say the 2.0L hybrid powertrain is far from underpowered as the new system provides a small increase in combined HP.
  4. Absolutely love my 2015 C-Max... was fun at an Alberta registry office trying to register the thing. Kept on coming up as a 4-door Mustang when they entered the vin...lol I kept point out of the window saying it's that small red hatchback over there. Does it look like a Mustang? The only negative I have is there is no spare tire. Where the spare would be is the high voltage battery. Had to get the car towed to the dealer because I had a flat tire that had a hole in it too big to hold air in it long enough to drive to a tire shop. Other than that, double the fuel efficiency my 2008 Fusion had. I'm happy. Hopefully there will be something similar when it comes time to replace my car.
  5. If you do a Whois search on the fordcanadanews.ca from your email above reveals the following information. Registrant: Name: Wunderman, a division of The Young & Rubican Group of Companies, Ltd. 6. Not a popular car, that's for sure but I sure do love mine. I'm going to have to see if those headlights will fit in my 2015.
  7. I think that hybrid powertrain is perfectly suited to the C-MAX. My smile never goes away when I floor it all the way, yet I don't drive like that all the time. If I did, I wouldn't get fantastic fuel efficiency. I can see the need for a bigger and more powerful version for the luxury vehicles though. But I also see a disconnect with their testing/driving procedures and their expectations. As akirby said, it seems its for entertainment value.
  8. Would have loved to get Sync 3, but couldn't wait that long for a new car. The 2015 C-MAX I bought is fantastic. Just wish this generation had projector headlights...
  9. finally found it for the android market and got "your device is not compatible with this item"... My 1 year old android phone is too old to run it
  10. This reminds me of my 2008 Fusion with the ancient Sync system (mine's now running ver 1.3!!!!) When I had an iPhone 3G, it worked flawlessly with Ford's new Sync system. Evil Apple released iOS 3 and it made the iPhone unusable with the Sync system. Everyone viewed this as a Ford issue when in reality it was an Apple issue as it worked perfectly before the update. With subsequent updates, partial functionality was returned but it was never the same as it was before iOS 3.
  11. In Canada we use the Imperial gallon. As it is bigger than the US gallon the MPG ratings are always higher than in the states. You can not compare MPG ratings in Canada directly with MPG ratings in the US... its silly but true. As 0.83 US gallons = 1 Imperial gallon. If you take the 55 MPG rating, multiply it by 0.83 to get an approximate US equivalent, you'd get 45.65 MPG.
  12. I for one would buy a diesel powered Ford car if they ever released one. I owned 2 VW diesel cars in the past and I loved them. I would still own them if VW quality didn't suck. I had no problem finding fuel stations that I could fill my car up with, even going to some truck fueling stations where there aren't any line ups. The cars were pretty zippy considering the low horsepower (75hp for my 95 Golf with a 1.9L IDI TD (canada only) and 90hp for my 99 Golf 1.9L TDI). Fuel efficiency was way better than anything else I have owned. Living in Canada, people worry about fuel gelling and such. I've never had an issue with this as VW recirculated the warm and unused fuel through the fuel filter to prevent gelling. My 99 TDI didn't even come with a block heater. I started it one night when it was -38C... it puked out tons of smoke and ran pretty crappy until it warmed up... but it started. Lord knows if my Fusion would start at -38C not plugged in... I know this is a different beast compared to modern technology, but there are people out there who would buy a diesel powered car, regardless of the costs. Hopefully a company will release a diesel powered car here, it will be successful and Ford will respond with one of their own.
  13. Once you learn how to shift, you don't even think about the manual transmission. Operating the clutch and the shifter becomes instinct and you don't even think about it. It is not a distraction. I plan on buying a 6th gen F-Series truck by the end of the year, it will have a manual in it. I miss shifting sooooo badly! I will then teach my other half and my room mate how to drive a manual. It's an important skill to learn and everyone should learn it, in my opinion. As for choosing to buy one, it's personal preference. Wow is all I can say. lol No comment needed... lol
  14. If they want a big vehicle, fine. If they falsely believe that they actually NEED it, that is where we are thinking it's shameful. Please don't turn this into something it is not.
  15. I think he's trying to say that it's a shame when people think they need a bigger vehicle than they really do. Like if they think they need a big SUV for the 1 week of camping they do a year, or they think it's bigger so it must be safer, or it has 4x4 or the 2" of snow they get a year... they really don't need an SUV. If they want one, that a different story. In Edmonton, we have had 50" of snow fall in the past couple weeks, biggest snowfall in the past 30 years. We have a total of 67" of snow on the ground, and my Fusion with all season tires and hasn't gotten stuck yet. I don't need an SUV, CUV, truck... I am happy with my car, I'd be happy with that Focus wagon. I think it looks great! Everyone has their own opinions, Borg just makes his known over and over and over and over...
