  1. 2. Divided our ranks further by selling everyone on 2nd Tier (again sold as the only alternative by the UAW) The BIG selling point here was that 2nd Tier would be limited to only 20% and that they would have a chance to move up to 2nd tier as people retired. You do realize that even if the cap on entry level employees was raised Ford would literally have to double the amount of employees to outnumber us right??
  2. Yea great idea everyone. Lets settle for nothing less than all of our benefits back!! Lets show Ford and the UAW that we mean business!! Then guess what Ford will show us. Less investment in US plants. Sure there will always be some plants in the US, but lets face it, Ford is not going to build as many engines, transmissions, axles, or stampings paying significantly more than the competition. Until the UAW can organize some transplants we will not see wage increases. Less than 50% of vehicles built in the US are now UAW. It is not just about us, but the whole industry. There was a reason why Toyota paid there workers equal to more than what we make. They did not want the union. Now why do you think there were talks a little while ago Toyota cutting wages? Probably because they do not fear the UAW anymore. Is solidarity about getting all that you can from the company for a smaller group or is solidarity about sticking together to grow the union to ultimately benefit a larger group of people? I feel it is the second one. Feel free to tear apart this post. I really do not give a shit.
  3. Yes this plant can be all 2nd tier employees but the first people these jobs will be open to are master wage Ford employees. There are still some on layoff plus the employees working at ACH will be given the opportunity go there before anyone else will be hired.
  4. So it appears that with all these job postings, there are enough jobs to all but empty out ACH of master wage employees. I think we all know that not all will sign up to transfer. How many of these jobs does everyone think will get filled voluntarily? Could this also be the beginning of the dreaded forced out of zone portion of the hierarchy?
  5. How many people we talkin here???
  6. Are these openings being filled with on-loan ACH or being posted at locations that have a layoff? I know that there are some laid off on the East side that might want this opportunity.
  7. What makes you think they wont get what they need through volunteers? Then you will continue to "hump the line."
  8. That is not what I am saying. Someone that possess the skills to work at Google are more in demand than the skills to work in a factory and they get paid what the market dictates. A person that works at Google cannot walk into a factory and do our jobs any more than one of us could walk into Google and do their jobs. I did not start the comparison, was only replying to the person who did. The plant I work at is irrelevant, I have worked for Ford and been member of the UAW for 14 years and that is all you need to know.
  9. Google also has some highly skilled employees. Are you as highly skilled as some google employees? If so, what are you doing working in a factory? If you notice, the higher up the food chain you are, better pay usually follows. Ford does take care of you. We have great health benefits, a 401k plan AND a pension and damn good pay. Stop the pity party about how we are so beaten down. Even with all the givebacks we are still ahead of the game in my opinion.
  10. What would we be striking over? We have no say in the salary of the CEO nor should we. They are the ones that pay us, not the other way around. Strike over wages? Please, we make more than most college grads with most of the workforce having a high school diploma or in some cases less education than that. All the goodwill that Ford and the UAW gained from not taking the bailout would be forgotten instantly. Strike over work rules? The fexibility in work rules are what helps keep costs down and our wages up. Do not take my post as saying that I fully support all of the sacrifces we have made but seriously with unemployment at 9%, a record number of Americans on food stamps and government aid, how many people would be sympathetic to a workforce that makes $28 an hour and saying they are underpaid. We need to secure more jobs (yes, even at the entry level). How manyof our plants are underutilized. Livonia, Romeo, AAI, Ohio assy and probably one or two others I am not thinking of. So yea, lets strike over wages and givebacks when we need plants filled up with work. Let us not be that short sighted. The old days are gone, whether a strike happens or not.
  11. They may try to implement this but I really do not think this will fly with the membership. Let us not forget there are ALOT of employees at ACH that may be eyeing this plant as a potential home. Ford must make good on placement of ACH employees or bring back a couple of plants to keep us working. WE have the final say on any agreement that will happen.
  12. How many Ford employees left there??
  13. Are you guys serious?? I cannot believe you guys are bitching about this. The union is screwing me Ford is screwing me Why cant we just enjoy some prosperity? I cant remember Fords future ever looking so good in my 13 years at Ford. Waaaaaaaaaaaaay too many crybabies on this site.
  14. He was here for the first half of 2010 but all the trolls abused the sh!t out of him. I am surprised he is back but am glad because for the most part he tells it like it is whether you like it or not.
  15. YES!!!! More conspiracy theories. I love it.
  16. THE PROFIT SHARING FORMULA WAS NOT CHANGED IN THE MODIFICATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why do people on here like to believe conspiracy theories, lies and rumors as opposed to the truth?
  17. Yea its terrible that this will get implemented around the time that other programs at Sterling will be goin away (ranger and crown vic). This will be done to save jobs. Nice solidarity buddy...
  18. And what is that supposed to mean??
  19. This will not happen at Ford unless we let the IUAW and Ford do this to us. We actually get a vote and honestly, if the last mods failed, what makes you think this would pass a vote?
  20. I beleive that everything given up will not come back exactly how it was voted away. I think we will see bigger bonuses based on the profitability of the comapny but the days of having so many defined benefits are over.
