  1. Nick, the sunroof option in the Fusion takes about an inch and a half out of the head room, I wanted a sun/moonroof in my Fusion, but when I sat in one, no matter how I adjusted the seats, my hair would brush the interior roof, I didn't like the hunkered down feeling I got. I went with one without a 'roof, and much better clearance. Happened to me when my Fusion was in the shop for some light damage, I get an idea, "Hey...lets go up front and see if I can make a deal..." I settle on a car that appeals to me, (2009 Focus SEL...loaded) but it does not have anti-lock brakes (odd....) They kept calling me and calling me...tossing more $$$ into the deal....I was the same way.."I AM NOT INTERESTED IN THAT CAR!!!"
  2. I know....lets all post there...but only post emoticons ....such as or or That oughta irk him
  3. http://www.toxco.com/ oops....making statements without actually checking it out first....seems to be a habit for ya wiz.....
  4. You forgot to include Oil inc. Why, they'll put this technology on a shelf next to the 100MPG carburetor.
  5. PS...it would also "one up" Dodge....coil spring rear suspension?? Yeah...we got that and an independent suspension back there to boot! ADD ON: As I look at it, it seems that Expedition weighs a lot more than F150, not sure if the frame is where all the weight is, but I would assume the rear suspension has to add significantly to the chassis. The body no doubt weighs more than a cab and box from F150....it looks like it would need to go on a major crash diet to make the cut...... Damnit!
  6. It may have been just that, a rumor...but as I have stated, using the Expedition as a "donor platform" makes sense, it would be capable, different from F150 so as not to eat into it's sales, yet retain the famous Ford "Truck Tough" persona. With Explorer going to a D3 based chassis, that would leave Sport Trac on an orphaned platform, shared with nothing else. (equals expensive) In comes F100 to take up that slot, leaving Ranger to remain in the small truck camp to do battle with the coming onslaught from India in the form of Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata, and others that want to carve up the market.
  7. Very interesting article....I hope MIT can convince an American company to invest in this technology, it looks to be a game changer.
  8. ...and the more I look at Milan, the more I like the styling over Fusion.
  9. Not so much smaller, but I agree that it needs to be lighter.....put the Expedition to F100 chassis on a diet? Use lighter weight materials? Composite components....etc etc etc
  10. I was pondering the many faces of Ford and wondering aloud if F100 will ever see the light of day, then it hit me.... Build F100 off an Expedition chassis with F150 cab and box, but with Expedition nose.....EL version of Expedition could be for a crew cab variant. This could be done with zero cost to develop since Ford has all it needs to construct it now EcoBoost V6, 6 speed trans, independent rear suspension....yowza! Thoughts?
  11. I am feeling the same...when I first saw the Mercury...I was all, "blech...." but now seeing it more and in different angles with more colors, I may have to "put Mercury on my list." and get ready to trade my '06 Fusion in afterall.....we'll see when I can get a look at it in person.
  12. And when it gets really mad.....it starts playing "Take the long way home" by Supertramp
  13. I have long said that since Global Rear Wheel Drive (GRWD) chassis is on an indefinite hold, Panther should be updated with a new rear suspension, lifted from Expedition along with some powertrain updates. EcoBoost V6 with 6 speed are all stuff that Ford already has and could be utilized in Panther at a very minimal cost until GRWD is ready, say around 2015-16-ish...
  14. Unless you get a windmill and/or solar panels to augment the charging process.... :shades:
  15. My time to waste....not everything is funny to everyone and I owe you no other explanation....
  16. Fusion is a significant product for Ford because of the quality of design, and build. I remember "back in the day" when my father owned a TV store and we sold Zenith. I had two of the same identical model sitting on the floor, one was made in Chicago Ill USA, the other was built in Reynosa, Tamaulipas Mexico. They looked the same, worked the same, had the same build quality (...the quality goes in before the name goes on) and were the same price. I ran a promotional ad and proudly stated, "It doesn't matter where it is made, it matters where you buy it." I believed that then, and I believe it now. Sadly, Zenith is no longer, having been bought up by LG from Korea (the name continues in the hotel/motel/institutional markets)Zeniths' downfall was because they were too slow to react to market forces and got steamrolled by "Pacific Asian Rim" competitors. I hope that Ford does not meet the same fate as Zenith did, but from what I see, they are stronger, and a building better product, so they look to be on better ground. Would I have preferred my Fusion was built at say...Auto Alliance instead of Hermosillo? Yes, I will always stand up for my fellow American workers, but Fusion was my choice and Hermosillo is where Ford builds them.
  17. I am thinking of a "C" word, but am not sure the ladies of this forum would like it....close to the work "punt".....
  18. Ahhh Maverick....the car of choice for Republicans that want to project an "I'm different" attitude.
  19. About two hundred more than a Three Hundred?? Or is that 300??? :hysterical:
  20. Looks like another loss for Mercury......sad days.
  21. I must say though, while I wax nostalgic about great names of the past (my personal favorite is Torino) I have no problems with new names like Fusion, Milan, etc etc etc....sometimes, those famous nameplates need to remain in the history books. But, that being said, the annuls of history can be a great place to come up with a name for say a certain segment. Crown Victoria comes to mind, the police and livery service version could have been called "LTD", or "500"to help separate the fleet queens from the sales floor. But... I have already expressed my opinion of that in another forum.
