  1. I'm not asking for myself. Bill Ford said the company hasn’t yet decided how to allocate them, or what the price will be.
  2. I want to know more on this, too. Cherokee (non-Grand) vs Escape Which is better? Which is better off-road and better in the snow?
  3. Can the lower grille get any bigger?
  4. "buyers can lease a 2014 Charger or Challenger for one year and exchange it for a three-year lease on a 2015 model next year, with no additional money down and the same monthly payment." And this will count as 2 sales.
  5. “Don’t you think you can SELL and WIN potential truck buyers with what was announced,” the GM district manager wrote. “I am asking for YOUR commitment this month TRUCK MONTH to market - promote and sell our Silverado’s [sic]… dress ‘em up on your front line and on your website… you will not be disappointed.” ------ Get those $12,000 off graphics up on your websites now!!!
  6. GM spokesman Jim Cain dismissed the Ram outselling the Silverado, contending Ram was buying market share with incentives. Both Chevrolet and Ram had truck promotions in March. “The 1980s called. They want their marketing strategy back,” Cain told Automotive News when asked about Ram outselling Silverado. “It’s really easy to deeply discount your truck, mine the subprime market and offer cheap lease deals to buy market share.” A Ram brand spokesman declined to comment on GM’s view and said Ram will continue to focus on its products. http://www.autonews.com/article/20140401/RETAIL01/140409976/ram-pickup-outsells-silverado-for-first-time-since-1999
  7. Ford tested the bed with a steel drum test, bouncing the drums into the bed. The aluminum bed did better than the steel. Advantage Aluminum.
  8. 8000 in 3 days or 8000 in 4-6 months or so because this all they can do. A fact that a poster on putc just found out when the dealer told him he couldn't order one. "On a side note, I went to a local ram dealer yesterday to inquire about ordering an ecodiesel 1500. It turns out that they have halted all orders due to "configuration issues" and will not accept orders until early July!! This is just way too many setbacks and ultimately has me looking elsewhere. 9. Sorry, GM, but if you cannot compare your product to its actual competition, you shouldn't bother comparing it at all. See more at: http://www.torquenews.com/1080/gm-brings-marketing-lie-false-comparisons-new-colorado-titan#sthash.9amVjEzo.dpuf
  10. Part of the reason is it's still early and Ram had weak sales (+3%) in the beginning of 2013 when they were trying to get their 2013's out, and GM was overachieving (+29%): February 2013 Top 15.

  12. Apparently the whole instrument panel turns off (albeit briefly)... http://gmauthority.com/blog/2014/02/gm-says-recent-truck-recall-is-inconsequential-to-safety
  13. "The result: the [pickup] launch has been arguably the least successful large pickup launch over the last 15 years." What happened to the hiccup-free launch the media was claiming back in January? And GM is now on its way to a 3rd recall on the 2014's, but is fighting it. http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2014/02/gm-petitions-nhtsa-to-avoid-recall.html Correction: 2014 Silverado already has 3 recalls. This would be the 4th recall, the one GM is fighting. Just a couple more after this and GM will be right up there with the Escape launch that GM fans always like to point out for the number of recalls.
  14. "Ford could make the switch from Microsoft to BlackBerry and its QNX operating system this year or next. QNX, acquired by BlackBerry in 2010, has quickly begun replacing the Windows operating system as a popular choice for in-car automobile software." -- Which vehicle will get it first and when?
  15. And they moved the central lock controls from the center consol to the drivers door Good. The door lock on the center stack of my parent's 2012 Focus feels awkward to me. Are there any other Fords that have the door locks on the center stack?
  16. Nissan shot itself in the "commercial foot" when they cancelled the reg cabs. Sales are down to 800 a month when they were supposed to be in the 8-10 thousand a month range. Now they want to bring reg cabs back for the new 2015 Titan. Fleet buyers want a mix of multi-cabs and reg cabs, strippers and well equipped. But they don't wan't fleets of 2 or 3 different brands. And fleet sales of trucks lead to fleet sales of cars for their sales team, company cars and group (employee's families) purchases. And not just stripper cars/trucks, but well equipped.
  17. It looks like Toyota is throwing in the towl on the commercial market. When you are like Nissan and don't offer a regular-cab, base engine, stripped-down truck, you're out of the commercial market.
  18. Tundra Regular cab discontinued for 2015... via TundraHQ.
  19. 33 days after PUTC's "10 things Ford got wrong, aluminum pushing too far, only time will tell" post, Mark Williams writes that GM will follow Ford's lead. That was fast. But he also asks if GM is trying to steal Ford's thunder. Yeah, GM will steal Ford's 2015 thunder 4 years later in 2019 when Ford will already be onto something else in 2020. Yeah, that's the ticket. http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2014/02/could-the-next-gm-pickups-have-more-aluminum.html#more
  20. General Motors Co. GM +1.00% is accelerating efforts to field a largely aluminum-bodied pickup truck by late 2018, under pressure from federal fuel efficiency standards and archrival Ford Motor Co. F +0.98% , according to people familiar with the matter. The No. 1 U.S. auto maker recently locked-in supply contracts with Alcoa Inc. AA +0.26% and Novelis Inc., which are now working to increase their aluminum sheet production to supply the next-generation GM pickup, the people said. Aluminum sheet for automotive bodies is in such high demand that companies need to order it years in advance. The push to develop what the industry calls an "aluminum intensive" large pickup marks an apparent change of direction for GM, which has pursued smaller and lighter weight steel-bodied trucks. Before Ford's debut last month of its 2015 F-150, with a body made almost entirely of aluminum, GM executives questioned whether such a vehicle could be cost competitive or appealing to U.S. customers. (snip) Now, it appears that the two largest suppliers of pickup trucks are again driving in the same direction, but with Ford nearly five years ahead. A Ford spokesman declined to comment directly on GM's move. "Our innovation and use of advanced materials have consistently set the direction for the American truck market," he said. 21. The websites state max payload, but are not accurate numbers. Even without the air suspension it probably still wouldn't crack 600 lbs.
