  1. Is it me or does this on again off again mid engine vette program sound like a total train wreck. I'll wait to truly pass judgement when it comes out but they everything I've read just sound like the keep moving the goal posts. If you ripping up your frame then it was designed with lower power levels in mind. The pricing conversation keeps being brought up too. I can't see GM designing a mid engine Vette and keep the price around 60 for supercars levels of performance. Well, I can if it has this amount of frame twist, the iron duke as the base engine, or GM wants to lose money on every one sold.
  2. Any ideas on whether the ST will be tuned a bit sportier than the Fusion Sport or Edge ST? Just thinking with RWD and new platform it may be a better handler.
  3. So for a base XLT 4wd it’s a hair under 40! Wow. I thought the 360 was going to be standard? I see it’s a 750 option.
  4. I think the new Escape looks like a blander and slightly lifted Focus Active. If you say the NG Edge will look like the new Escape, then you have convinced me to buy the current generation Edge ST before the NG Edge comes out.
  5. When do you think we'll see this testing at Silver Lake? I'll be there in May.
  6. So you are telling me I should by an ST before production ends, so I don't have to buy a blandly styled but on steroids version of the focus. Thanks Fuzzy! I just needed an excuse.
  7. The question is, why not? They are based on the same platform. They also could just being trying to throw us off too.
  8. Today I was due for an oil change so since quicklane was swamped, I took it to my buddies shop to get it done. Once they got the plastic part off the undercarriage the tech noticed that my PTU looked like it had a leak. Since I am still under warranty, he didn't touch it but said I should get it checked out. Before I left the shop, I scheduled an appointment for Thursday at the dealer to check it out. Not a huge deal, as these things happen. However, with Fords history with PTU's should I be worried? It literally has only been 5k since my last oil change at Quicklane so if it was leaking one would assume they would have said something. I just want to know if it is low, is it possible that I could have shortened it's life span? I don't have all the details now since it's only been visually checked. Essentially, I just want to know if i should push for a new PTU or get it warrantied for longer due to the fact of the leak. All thoughts are appreciated. Mods, move the thread if you want but I posted in the general forum because it gets the most traffic (more opinions).
  9. My ex had a Olds Alero with a cloth interior that was so disgusting when I met her. She wasn't good at cleaning (or do anything ) with her car. She had a toddler that destroyed the interior of the car. It smelled and had a lot of stains. We had a Stanley Steamer van come out and clean it for around 50 bucks. It took about a half hour. I swear that was the best 50 bucks spent, otherwise there would have been no way we would have sold it for what we did.
  10. I’ll be interested on how these to stack up in real life, not paper. I’m sure it will be a few months before seeing these on the street. If the Aviator turns out to be a home run and the XT6 a bunt, Cadillac will be in some serious trouble sooner rather than later.
  11. This hits the CUV demographic for people who probably shouldn't buy a new car but vow to buy a new CUV. They would much rather have a smaller inferior product with a few bells and whistles than a base Escape or any car that they could afford. Think of it this way, getting rid of folks that want and actually like the Ecosport (for whatever reason) ,there are folks that are hitting their financial limit but would much rather have an CUV than a small Versa, Kia, or Fiesta. This hits the spot for them, regardless of how bad it is.
  12. Anecdotal evidence is probably not the best indicator of success or failure. While being relatively new and only being middle of the pack, it filling a gap in the Ford lineup. They are selling a decent amount of them according to the sales numbers. I see a decent amount of them but again, that doesn't mean anything in the big picture. I live in the North side of Chicago and am all over the north shore and north burbs.
  13. Wait...I thought they were against making Lincoln a global brand (other than China)?
  14. I don't buy it. Not for 1 second. Just because you see it, doesn't mean they will produce it. You never know what they are trying to do.
  15. Yeah, I get the why. I would much rather have upgraded mechanical bits (trans and AWD) then cosmetics. I had a 2012 Edge and the 2019 interior is virtually the same minus MFT and gear shift.
  16. I bet this changes in the next 1-2 model years. If you remember for the Explorer, the Sport only got the 3.5. Then eventually the Platinum got the 3.5 too. I want to believe there is some rationale behind this practice but am unsure. The 2.0 liter performance is good but getting the 2.7 in the Titanium would be a great option. TFL did a quick comparo between the Edge, Murano, and Passport. Ford looked a little bland in the styling department, inside and out compared to the other two. The interior looks to be straight from 2010 so that's kind of a negative. It's a very competitive segment that's for sure.
  17. I'm not sure where I read this recently (maybe here?), but someone mentioned the AMC Eagle being the historical white space vehicle of today. Think about that shape and what Ford is trying to do. Car, slightly lifted, with AWD with not a full square hatch for additional storage space. AMC Eagle, a car ahead of it's time!
  18. Thought I would chime in here. I read this from the Detroit News today. The author has written a few pieces about his model 3 experience. Detnews This is exactly why I call this the rich mans toy, especially when you drop 60k on it. When you have to rely on car through 4 seasons without a backup, the flaws start to show immediately. The fact that there will be no more show rooms and repair facilities are few and far between outside of big cities, spells major headaches. Wouldn't you think it would be cost prohibitive to doing house call repairs? Is this the beginning of the nose dive? I would think once the zealots get stranded or have to have their car repaired and have to wait and wait, their tunes may change. Nevermind the safety recalls that are bound to happen (they happen to every car maker) and be a total disaster to be repaired. But Wall Street loves them so who cares!
  19. Thanks....I saw that after I posted and edited to see your chart!
  20. Can people stop saying that the whole CUV/SUV crazy is going to stop overnight! It's not stopping anytime soon and if it does, it will be a very gradual shift. The Explorer (sorry Cherokee) made SUV's a popular mainstream vehicle. They came out in 1990. Think about that for a second. What were you doing 30 years ago? 30 freaking years! Sure, they have moved away from BOF designs to more car like CUV's but their premise is still the same for the most part. And please, don't use the if gas prices go up argument because that is just wrong no that FE economy is in the same ballpark as sedans. I would love to see the stats on percentage of SUV/CUV vs cars sold over annually over the last 30 years. My hypothesis is that cars have been on a slow death since the 90's. I don't have the time to do that though. See Silversvt posting above with chart (nice chart!)
  21. This is especially true of Cadillac. It was like bankruptcy washed all of their sins away for Cadillac. Their cash cow the Escalade, SRX, and livery special XTS somehow kept them afloat while they focused on Nurburing lap times. All the while, they pretty much stopped any real CUV development. And here they are now, tens of billions wasted away trying to compete with BMW on a German track with very little to show for it.
  22. The next 3-4 months will be interesting for Lincoln. Depends on how aggressive they start pushing the MKC to get the old stock out. Aviator should be on lots by August so we should see a massive sales spike. I wonder if the Navigator can sustain 1500-2000/month till then.
  23. So now that we say good bye to the Taurus, when will those first Aviator and Explorer builds start happening?
  24. I highly doubt both Escape and Corsair will debut at the same event. That isn't how they've done it over the past few years with Lincoln and their Ford siblings.
  25. My first run in with Unix. " Here are a couple of Solaris boxes. Primary and Secondary production boxes. I need you to run the checks at midnight and tell me if these startup correctly. If they don't alert production team but I am sure our clients will call and complain if they don't. I am not sure the syntax but you can try and google it. Here are some high level notes. We fired the last midnight guy and he didn't put any documentation together. See ya " I look at clock ....11:35 PM. Side note, I knew some Cobol guys that were making piles of cash in 98 and 99 for the year 2000 programming issues. Amazing how so many banks and large businesses were affected by that.
