  1. Is the silent majority starting to speak out? https://www.fox2detroit.com/news/uaw-members-grow-weary-five-weeks-into-strike-supply-starts-to-thin
  2. No it’s not, it’s about economic and social justice, have you not been listening ?
  3. I personally never was. I was never anti union because there are some benefits for sure. It’s nice to have some kind of representation when the company is trying to skirt rules or add to jobs with little warning and/or training. That being said this whole process has very much turned me off to the union almost entirely. If Michigan hadn’t overturned the right to work laws I would more than likely be asking for my papers.
  4. Shawn Fain is incapable of setting his inflated ego aside
  5. She knows what’s at stake and we have the same vision for the future. Sacrifice now, buy a homestead in the next 2(ish) years and start a business. It’s going to be tough but the goal is to set the kids up for the future and that’s well worth the challenge.
  6. https://www.wxyz.com/news/ford-motor-co-announces-shareholder-dividend-for-the-fourth-quarter Talk about tone deaf. I get they have to pay a dividend but why announce that less than a week after telling the union they’re tapped out on what they can pay for the next contract? There’s got to be some legal reason for it.
  7. No bots. All are both current and former Ford employees, but not necessarily MAP employees You’re not wrong but after that big display Biden put on the at the picket line there’s no good way for him out of this politically speaking. He’s damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t. It could go down as one of the biggest political missteps ever.
  8. There’s a sizable contingent that does not care. They want what was given up in 2008, period. I don’t feel like going through the effort of blurring names and it’s not worth the hassle anyway but I wish I could post a screenshot of a Facebook comment thread I just glanced through. I’ll sum it up best I can. OP is basically where I’m at in thinking the current offer is good enough to vote yes to, and there’s about 40 comments ripping the guy to shreds, the vast majority saying 30% raises or it’s an automatic “no” vote. The pension for all crowd makes a strong appearance. There’s several that want 40% right off the top. I really hope the silent majority is closer to where I’m at in all of this or we’re probably screwed and I should be open to a career change.
  9. That was more due to the incompetence of UAW leadership at the time and IIRC the margin got closer with each successive vote with Skilled Trades eventually voting in favor of UAW representation.
  10. It was a red herring from the start. Nothing more than a ploy to try to get the companies to hire more people and in turn pad the pockets of the union from the influx of dues money. On top of that, hardly anyone actually wants that. What’s really being asked for is change the language in the contract to prevent the abuse of mandatory overtime. It’s not so much a Ford and GM problem but it’s for sure a Stellantis problem.
  11. He’s clearly banking on them seeing what the big 3 union workers are getting and wanting to vote to join the union. A bold strategy had he not messed up by airing all the dirty laundry of negotiations.
  12. Agreed. I’ve questioned that from the very beginning. It’s nice getting updates for a change but not worth it for the situation we ended up in.
  13. Just one, really, and he’s got the masses brainwashed. You should see some of the vitriol directed at Bill Ford after todays speech in the Facebook groups. There’s no hope of this ending without arbitration.
  14. The back pay part isn’t very common but I personally know 1 person who got that deal.
  15. Sounds like not much at all. I will say this, after this is all over if the union thinks they can keep up the status quo as far as attendance policy and other day to day operational matters are concerned they can kiss that goodbye. I think gone are the days where if you get fired for attendance policy violations you wait a set period and get your job back with back pay and retaining your seniority.
  16. I 100 percent agree with you, but I think doing that is only going to stir the pot with union leaders, well one in particular at least, and cause them to dig their heels in even more.
  17. I get the feeling the stuff that remains to be settled is the stuff there’s no way on god’s green earth the company is going to agree to like pensions for all, post-retirement health care and the battery plant representation issue.
  18. The details of Ford’s most recent offer have been out for 2 weeks
  19. Bill Ford is going to speak to the future of American Manufacturing at 10am. It will be on YouTube
  20. Im liable to punch the next person that says that word to my face. I’m tired of hearing that and hold the line. So much so, I don’t ever want to hear the song Hold the Line by Toto ever again for the rest of my life.
  21. Nope, not watching any of that bullshit propaganda.
