  1. Chicago is already going to need a major retool for NG Explorer/Aviator. I think investing upwards of $1 Billion into a second plant to convert it to BOF right after doing it at MAP at a cost of $900 Million+ would definitely qualify as cost prohibitive. Not to mention the hit on the CAFE numbers a BOF Explorer would surely have.
  2. I'm sorry this happened to you, but try to understand this: Building thousands of these a day there's going to be a few defects and unfortunately sometimes they don't pop up until they get into a customer's hands. I know it sucks being without a car for any length of time (I've had issues not Transmission related with my Focus), but at least you can take solace in knowing it's covered under the warranty. Hang in there bud, I'm sure it will be worth it
  3. at this point the folks at the Pilot Plant probably have.
  4. And that's why Fields had to go. It boggles my mind why he delayed everything. A shrinking market is prime time to gain market share. Doing it in a growing market is a hell of a lot harder. That's business 101 shit.
  5. i never saw that oneI'm referring to the one with the truck in front of the plant over shutdown
  6. you do it by offering best in class options, capabilities and a dynamite marketing campaign. Not by reverting to 1970s construction techniques because it's cheaper.
  7. Explorer and Aviator will not be BOF, just stop with that right now.
  8. If that's the case then why is the base price for the SES higher than Titanium?
  9. Getting rid of the second date at a lot of the tracks could certainly help. Look at what it did for the track in Fontana as exhibit A. As much as it would make me sad to see the second date at Michigan go, keep the traditional Father's Day date and give the August date to a short track or even a new state of the art track like Circuit of the Americas. I know I'm tired of the 1.5 mile tracks, I'm sure I'm not the only one.
  10. I would expect that actually. It was (and still is on the Edge and Focus) positioned as a tier below Titanium. When they started introducing Sport trims everything got shifted around.
  11. not the point. The initial purpose of the Titanium trim level in the lineup was to be the top of the line trim, and essentially replacing Mercury as a step below Lincoln. Ford has really lost their way with their packaging since Mulally left.
  12. I agree, there's no need to change the frame or basic cab structure. It's plenty capable for introducing to the US market, and there's room to increase capability for future generations. There's definitely going to be new drivetrains, you can count on that, but if the pictures I've seen are any indication the exterior is going to be largely the same as the current ROW truck. I hope I'm wrong about that. Not that I find anything wrong with it but it's not what corporate has been promising since January.
  13. I honestly think that Ford generally avoiding subprime lending is a good move. That's a bubble that's ready to burst. I would rather be on firmer footing financially and lose some sales because of it if it's going to lead to less problems down the road.
  14. I don't think many people really truly care about what "brand" wins anymore, it's all about the driver these days for most. the vast majority of people see cars as a disposable appliance these days. The days of the true "gearhead" are gone. Every major sports league has done that or is in the process of doing that.
  15. probably the 10R as it seems the 6R is being phased out. Hopefully there's a 6 speed manual option offered in more than just a bare bones single cab 2x4 model.
  16. Because it's not very fuel efficient, lags in capability and features and despite what (as SoonerLS so aptly put it) that goober in their ads say, it's old.
  17. I was talking specifically of Mustang as it's more prone to that than anything else in the lineup. If the trend continues as it relates to Escape, MKZ et. al. then I'll worry more about it.
  18. yes you can order one, but they aren't building any until the end of September.
  19. I'm not too worried about it yet, this always happens right before a new Mustang comes out.
  20. We should be smack in the middle of launching the Ranger right now and getting ready to launch Bronco in the spring but no, hair boy had to delay everything because #reasons. Instead I'm coming off a layoff week and staring at 3 more by the end of the year building a car with a shitbox Transmission that nobody wants.
