  1. I think even 70% is too high. Remember, it's not 2005 anymore and now every car in the lineup is profitable, not just trucks and bug SUVs. ( the ford lineup at least. I'm not sure about Lincoln).
  2. from what I can tell, yes. Whoever said we didn't after Walton Hills closed was full of shit
  3. Honestly, I don't think it's a bad move. Too bad it's about a decade too late.
  4. Highly doubt at this point you will get any concrete insight from anyone at this point. Anything you hear is pure speculation. History dictates the speculation is probably not too far off
  5. I think that's what a lot of people were hoping for. I would have certainly been more excited about it. I know retro styling is starting to fade away within the auto industry, but I think a modern take on the 1970 model is the natural progression to the current car.
  6. That number has to be bullshit. Too much time and effort has been spent on making the rest of the lineup profitable in the past 10 years for that to be true
  7. It looks like they just gave it the impala's hood and front clip
  8. You mentioned tier 1s being laid off though.
  9. That survey was posted in Final some time last week too
  10. Frank, no Tier 1s are going to be laid off. The cutoff seniority date is 3/12/12
  11. No they didn't, calm down! I meant that if they get rid of the 2.0, they will have a vacant line there.
  12. I don't have an answer for that It's not like they can't add capacity for the additional volume. They could use the vacated line at dearborn engine for the 1.5EB. I just don't think you are going to be able to get the premium that Ford wants to charge for the EB engines at a high volume for the Focus.
  13. I still don't think we will see the 1.5 EB as the main volume engine in the Focus. I hear so many people say the Focus is too expensive as it is and forcing the more expensive ecoboost engine as the main volume engine is going to end horribly.
  14. Uh, MY2014 for the Focus was almost a year and a half. Job one was July 7 2013 and job one for MY2015 was December 9 2014.
  15. Well that blows my "they aren't on the road yet" comment from earlier on the other thread right out of the water.....
  16. They aren't on the road yet, I've been diligently looking for several months now. Generally they start driving them around 3-6 months prior to unveiling, but right now they are probably limiting them to test tracks. Lately (ever since the first Chinese Tauruses were seen testing) spy shots haven't been trickling out until right around the time of unveiling (see Continental and MKX as prime examples). Trucks usually start road testing earlier, which is why the 2017 super dutys have been seen in heavy camo for 6 months now at least.
  17. why would people retire pass that? Sure they are on their way out but they know what's been going on the past 2 contracts as well as anybody else. You also underestimate the 2nd tier. Sure, many of them are selfish fuckwads, but a majority of them care enough about others to vote that down.
  18. It's been what, 15 years? I still think that.
  19. You aren't going to get much more out of Focus or Cmax in North America short of a miracle. Small cars in general are lagging behind. See the thread in the ford forum about smug Americans and their smug buying habits. A third non ST/RS engine option is not the answer.
  20. Didn't they mention a Lincoln specific 3.0L engine at some point?
  21. I wonder how many dealers will decide it's not worth dealing with the BS and closing up shop. Maybe that's the plan on GM's end?
