This does not look like a luxury vehicle. Definitely shouldn’t be badged as a Lexus.

I’d really like to see ford copy the rivian r2 steering wheel controls. You can control almost everything with those two knobs. My old fusion could do the same thing with MyFordTouch except it used buttons on the steering wheel instead of knobs. The center stack had a bunch of touch sensitive controls so I found myself using the steering wheel controls almost exclusively for radio and AC. The rivian knobs seem like it makes this functionality even better. You still get a physical button/knob that’s easy to find and gives haptic feedback, while cutting down on the overall number of buttons.

Found this over at the rancheroforum where some people were given a behind the scenes tour of skunkworks. They were also given a 3d printed model (zoomed in below). They weren’t sure if this was a model of the production version or not. https://www.rancheroforum.com/forum/threads/ford-skunkworks-evdc-first-ever-behind-the-scenes-tour.15782/

Yeah for commercial purposes, the looks don’t matter as much as long as it gets the job done. If I had a farm or a large amount of land, I would consider a truck like this instead of a UTV. Unfortunately the Telo truck is pretty expensive starting at 41k. It’s already a tough sell with its looks, and even tougher with its price tag.

Something like this is what I kinda expected from the ford 3 row EV when we first saw the wedge shape a long time ago. I actually don’t mind the front. It looks a bit like a Lamborghini which isn’t the worst thing in the world. The rest is a bit strange. I think the fact that this is not a two or three box design just makes it a bit odd looking. The whole top is just one big curved line.

Well let me clarify. I have no problem with truck and suv evs. What I am saying is don’t try to shoehorn them into some weird design that compromises their looks to make them better EVs. All the rivians, all the scouts, EV9, Slate, and lightning are good examples of how they should be done. This ford Aeros is an example of what not to do. On the truck side, here is an example of what not to do.

I’m still not even sure how this would have been a 3 row to begin with. It looks like there’s zero head room for what would be the 3rd row, unless they faced backwards and even then it looks like it would be tight. Another problem with this design is it already looks dated. I feel like I’m looking at a 2010’s vehicle. Copying Tesla when Tesla hasn’t changed its design in forever just means you are making a new product look old. Even the wheels look dated. I think ford needs to stop focusing on making SUVs and trucks as EVs. These types of vehicles are not conducive to being an EV due to their shape. To make them work as EVs, you have to change all the design cues that people love about them. It would be far better imo for ford to go after sedans and hatchbacks. It’s easier to get away with the aerodynamic design (like a low stubby front) needed on one of those, then trying to make it work on a truck or suv.

Ford Universal Electric Platform

No, from the proportions of the window I can see, I would have expected to see the door split just to the right of Farleys neck. If it was behind Farley, that would be a huge back door. I did look at some new truck rear windows and they no longer have the weather striping like that anymore so it’s probably not a rear window. -

It looks barely wider than the two guys, which would be around the same size as a Maverick I would think. The window only being a foot tall would mean a really high belt line if this was the side profile. The lack of door seams anywhere also throws me off. You would expect to see the seams between the doors, on top of the doors, etc, but all we see is glass and weather striping. Now it could be a frameless door like bronco or mustang and that could explain that. It also could be a mock up or clay model and that detail wasn’t put in. -

im not so sure we are looking at side windows here. You can see the bottom of the window next to Farleys elbow. That would make this window about as tall as Farleys upper arm, maybe about a foot? If this were a side profile, I’d expect it to be taller. I’d also expect to see something between the front and rear door, which should appear right between these two guys, but there’s nothing there. There’s also no door seams like you see on the maverick. What this does look like is the rear window of a truck. That matches the shorter height of the window. Only problem with this theory is these guys would have to be sitting in the bed of the truck 😆. Maybe this is a mock up of the truck cab without a bed? -
That was a pretty good deal for Shelby American. I wish ford could have come up with a better name though. Dark horse is fine for a mid level mustang like a Bullitt. I think Mach 1 would have been better to use on the darkhorse sc. I also think the logo looks a bit like an angry kangaroo instead of a horse😆

My point is electronic doors cost more, are less safe and less reliable than a mechanical door. China is actually banning them starting in 2027 due to safety concerns. I think there is a very tiny aero advantage, but it’s so small that you wouldn’t even notice (I read somewhere that it’s like 1-4 miles on a vehicle with 300 mile range). I think the only reason they are used is for looks and to make the vehicle feel more premium, which doesn’t make sense if you are making a low cost EV. I’m also not a fan of only having a center screen. I think the mach e’s set up of a large center screen with the small screen above the steering wheel is much better. I hope this doesn’t mean it’s not going to have buttons either.

I bet you are right. Maybe this is a top off-road trim since it has the pod lights attached to the hood.

This is from motor1 and it says the photo was provided by Nissan but this doesn’t seem to match the previous image https://www.motor1.com/news/793236/nissan-off-roader-concept/

I hope this isn’t as angular as the new Nissan juke

I don’t like Nissan on the front. It looks fine when it’s imprinted on the back, but it doesn’t look right on the front

It’s funny, from the tarp covered pic, I thought the front was the worst part. Seeing this image, I think it’s actually the least offensive part of the design (at least profile wise). It’s the rear that really ruins it. The completely vertical back doesn’t flow with the rest of the vehicle. I also think this is a pretty boring design and would have been a huge flop. It’s good that it was canceled.
