  1. Does this bed offer some surprises? It obviously doesn’t have the trunk in the bed like the ridgeline, but notice the cutout towards the tailgate. Could the maverick also get the “pro power onboard” generator like the f150? That sure does look like a similar cut out to the f150. Even if it’s not the generator, a storage solution there would be cool.
  2. I think it looks pretty good. I’m not sure why they were complaining about the bed size in the article, it looks to be proportional with the rest of the body. Any longer and it would look stupid. My only concern is that it looks like there is going to be some trim on the back of the cab. Hopefully that’s just for the window and not some trim piece like the avalanche had.
  3. I personally think my ideal bronco sport is something that isn’t offered yet. I don’t need the advanced 4x4 system in the badlands. I’d be fine with something similar to the FX2 package that gives you the added ground clearance, larger tires, and the 2.0L engine of the badlands. Slap that on an outerbanks with the black wheels and badging from the first edition and I’d be happy.
  4. I was more concerned with the interior. Almost every review I read said it felt cheap. I thought someone here said Ford was supposed to step up the materials for the sport?
  5. There were actually many reviews that said the 1.5 had a hard time with the trail. Seems to be issues with power or driver experience, or both, but the badlands did not have any issues.
  6. The are the optional wheel that you have to pay more for. They aren’t actually steel either. Surprisingly many people like them. I think it looks like you have four spare tires on.
  7. Seems like pushing everything back to MY 2022 wouldn’t be a bad idea. Wildtrak would gets its black painted roof, other trims would get painted roofs, manual would be available with sas.
  8. It’s the smart thing to do. It’s probably the biggest complaint you hear about the sport. Unless it’s extremely expensive to put the 2.0 in other trims (which I doubt) ford is just throwing money away by not offering it.
  9. I like the shape of the headlight housing. The giant oval that made it to production has always seemed kinda odd to me. At least you don’t really notice it until your are really close. Maybe that will make for a good refresh.
  10. I agree. The refreshes always seems to look better than the original to me anyways. Since COVID, I get to work from home so I barely drive now. Waiting wouldn’t be a bad idea for me.
  11. It’s not just the base engine, it’s the only engine for 3 of the 4 trims. That’s the problem. In the escape, the SE has the optional hybrid, the SEL has the optional 2.0, and the titanium has the 2.0 and hybrid. You have choices on every trim except the base S. The Sport should be similar, with only the base model not having an engine choice. Since they named it the “bronco sport” and its supposed to be the sporty off-road alternative to the escape, you would have thought they would have given it the option of the sportier engine. If you want people to pay a premium for the product, you have to make it premium. Slapping the bronco name on it will only command a premium for so long.
  12. Saw this in a video on YouTube. Guess this was one of the early designs for the sport? I actually think I like it better. heres the production design for comparison
  13. I saw that too. The guy was a little too excited by the steering if you ask me. Also I’m not sure how much of an impression he coulda got out of a drive around the block at mostly under 35 mph and on mostly straight roads. But it was cool to see it in action. When it floored it was pretty telling. It looked pretty slow. i think this is a good start but it could be better. Exterior design is good although it needs some better wheels. Interior is ok but needs to have some more of the features offered on the escape, especially at its higher price point. 2.0 needs to be optional. All of the sports competition (minus Subaru) are offered in 2WD which allows them to have a much lower starting price. I hope in the future the sport will be offered in 2WD as well. Sync 4 needs to be standard too. I think the OTA updates is huge and would hate to miss out on that for the next 6-8 years if I bought the sport now.
  14. I think the wheels are similar in size to the escape aren’t they? Wonder how it compares to the older escape with a similar shape.
  15. Wonder what real world mileage will be? I don’t ever get anywhere close to the epa numbers. I’d guess 19-20mpg is not out of the question.
  16. Your probably right. I think what I’m seeing is a cap for one of the power points.
  17. Is that the push button start below the ac controls? That’s a strange place to put it. I mean your hand will normally be in that area anyway so it makes sense, just haven’t seen it there in any other vehicle before.
  18. It also helps that it shares quite a bit with the escape and sport. That should help keep costs down too. Is maverick scheduled to be a 2022 MY vehicle?
  19. Ranger already starts at $24,410 so it does seem feasible. I’d guess closer to 22k though. For reference the bronco sport starts at 26,660. I’d guess the maverick will be standard 2WD and your not paying for the bronco name so it should be cheaper than that too.
  20. At some point wasn’t there a rumor that the maverick would start around $20k? Even with some options, that would make for a nice daily driver that can handle the occasional trip to Home Depot for some larger items in the bed at a very affordable price.
  21. I’m liking that sport with the custom wheels and larger tires. Hopefully it looks just as good in real pics. The real bronco at sema didn’t look as good as these drawings in my opinion.
  22. I think this interior looks better than the escape or bronco sport.
  23. more can be seen here https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/spied-ford-maverick-interior-first-look.12/ The off-centered screen is interesting. Hopefully that’s an indicator that there will be a larger horizontal screen available.
