  1. There was a long thread about this on another forum. Apparently it was on early Sync 4 Super Duty’s, but went away with an update. Super Duty owners are much more likely to be towing a big 5th wheel or other large trailer, and I think that is why Ford disabled it. They don’t want the liability of a 5th wheel smacking a bridge they had the wrong info on. Then the truck owner wants his camper fixed, and the state wants their bridge fixed. Not to mention if the A/C gets scraped off and goes through the windshield of the car behind them.
  2. I thought Final Prep meant it is at the dealer.
  3. ESP's aren't worth it if you are keeping it. Their business model, is about 13% of the cost of the ESP is used for repairs. The rest is marketing and profit. I know someone will post that it saved them thousands, but for everyone that did that there are 10 that got no benefit, or minimal benefit.
  4. I’ve always wondered why they are popular. I hate having extra holes in a roof, I’m sure they have a system so they don’t leak, but unless there is a purpose that I don’t know of, I’d rather not have them.
  5. Couple of things to consider in this scenario. How long until you sell it? If in 2-3 years, you will take a bigger hit, especially if you paid msrp or higher. As the years go on, the seats will be less the concern vs overall condition of the truck. I’d say at 8-10 years it would be a moot point. Most people don’t research trucks very much and are pretty uninformed. I’d bet 90% of the people looking at a 2-3 year old truck would even know it. The people on this forum are the researchers and might realize this, but Joe consumer walking onto the lot will have no clue, he will just see the Plati, or limited badge and be happy.
  6. I always leave streak, and they look horrible, but my wife has a knack for cleaning windows, sunglasses etc., so I just get her to do it. Also the streaks bother her more than me, so normally she volunteers.
  7. ARB makes a twin cylinder air compressor for onboard install. They are supposed to be really nice, but at about $600 I can’t justify it.
  8. I'd be unhappy too, but with the delays shipping, I think I'd rather have the 75 miles on it, than wait another month. Also you hear about instances of damage on the transporters, so it might be safer to drive them than load them on the truck. My last truck had 300 miles on it as it was swapped from another dealer, but not has 263k miles, in the long run it had no effect on it. Hopefully Y'all can work something out, and in a week it will just be a distant memory.
  9. Like AKirby said in GA 7% when you get the tag, then $20 a year after that. If you keep it over 4-5 years it works out good.
  10. I tried to get 5-6 dealers to get within $1000 of my price from Granger to keep from having to fly up and drive 800 miles home. None were willing, and I had 2 hang up on my when I told them the Granger price. I decided it was not worth the effort to get it matched, and ordered from Granger. My wife and I are thinking of it as a weekend get away, and by the time we get back the truck will be broken in, and ready to tow a camper.
  11. Not sure on the Ford side, but had a friend buy from Laura GMC a few years ago. He had a good experience with them. Their pricing was way better than anyone local by about $5k. He flew from ATL and they picked him up at his hotel, and he picked out his truck, and was on his way home quickly.
  12. I’m paying cash, I’ve been making payments to myself for years. My thoughts on the idea of financing to keep money invested is that if the economy tanks which it will at some point. Then you are in the situation where you may get laid off, or your business is really slow, and you have to make that truck payment. Then you maybe in the situation of having to sell stocks when the market is down 20%, that is when I want to be buying. But having been laid off in the past, having no truck payment was a good feeling. Different people have different ideas, and risk tolerances.
  13. 2 guys that work at KTP posted on a Facebook group that they start back on Tuesday, and 2 of the shifts have mandatory overtime, so sounds like they will be lots of trucks built this week.
  14. I heard they are off Monday for Easter. Hopefully they can keep them going. This inconsistancy has to make it tough to budget.
  15. My dad was a big train buff, and back when I was a kid we’d go to the rail yard and wander around, no gates or anything. Security might stop by and ask what we were doing and my dad would say just watching trains, and they were cool with it. Now I’m sure they are way more locked down. probably a waste of a trip, but if the Q is really good, it’s worth the trip.
  16. That is what I have been wondering. I wonder if they sheet they sent me with the sales # on if they just click to turn it into an order, or if they have to reenter it to a different system. If they just click to convert to an order I'm ok, but I'd hate to wait 6 months and it wasn't right. The dealer I ordered from seems to be on top of things, but mistakes can happen.
  17. F-350 Lariat SRW CCSB 7.3 AM Blue Sales Code F53681 Order Code K911 Thanks for doing this for us! I feel like a kid waiting on Christmas. I just got order confirmation last week so I’d like to confirm it looks correct on your end. I know it will be months, so I won’t bother you for awhile after this. Thanks!
  18. That Blue looks great!! I didn't think I'd like the looks of the color match, but that one is awesome. On white and red trucks, I like the contrast of the black. I've got antimatter ordered, so I think I'll just go black.
  19. So do they finish the truck, then take it and remove the bed and install the 5th prep, or does that happen mid build. just curious how that works.
  20. That is great to hear. I was think my done and I could do it that way. I don’t have a 5th wheel yet, buying the truck now and the camper next year. Although it maybe next year before I get the truck. ?
  21. Chevy offers it on their HD trucks. But their gas engine/tranny is so behind the 7.3, it took them out of consideration for me.
  22. What amazes me in all of this is how many dealers it seems struggle ordering vehicles! These people are dealing with millions of dollars of sales.
