  1. It's still not quite as rainy in LA... LOL! I'm glad they FINALLY released the theatrical version of the movie on DVD. I never liked the directors cut and have yet to see the Final Cut.
  2. I concur... I had kids yet I have never owned anything with more than 2 doors. Even the Jeep Cherokee we had while I was married was a 2 door. I never found it that difficult putting them into the car seats. It's all what someone wants to put up with.
  3. Hell.... I'd be happy with the 3.5 and and manual trans. A Coupe would be icing
  4. Looks like a Taurus wagon was grafted on the back... Odd. Was 91 the last year for the Vickie Wagon?
  5. Great looking car. Name is pretty good too. Not very many people will remember the Fiesta that was sold here from 1978 to 1980. The only confusion could come from the name being similar to the Kia built Festiva (1986-1993)
  6. Even leisure suits and gold chains will make a come back one day.
  7. I know that I am splitting hairs, but with the TRX wheels, hood scoop, and dual exhaust tip, and no 5.0 badges that car is equipped with the 135hp turbo-4... but hey, in 80 & 81 that was the top engine available
  8. DING! DING! DING! The K-Cars that used the 2.6l Mistubishi engine had a HEMI badge on the fender. Some of Chryslers captive imports that were powered by the same engine had a HEMI badge on the back of the car. At least that engine had a hemispherical combustion chamber.
  9. I guess they haven't driven a 68 Mustang lately. Hell, when I drive my 2001 after driving either my 79 or 85 it's like night and day... and they are even on what amounts to the same chassis. I can only imagine how a chassis designed in the late 50's would compare to a 2008 car There are a couple of dealers in my area still asking north of $70k for one. Bay Ford
  10. Hopefully for Ford, the car isn't used as cannon fodder like the Saleen in the second movie or powered by a Japanese engine then pounded into oblivion in the 3rd.
  11. More than likely it's like the CDC Glassback that you can buy for the current model Glassback
  12. Back in 1984, I bought a 71 Pinto sedan (it had fixed rear window and a trunk, not a hatch) from the car dealer that I worked at. It was a faded robin's egg blue with a dark blue interior powered by a 2.0 and an auto transmission. The odo said 90-something thousand miles, but it was obvious that it had rolled over at least once. But for $150 it was a deal. Striaght body, no rust. It was extreamly reliable the couple of years that I owned it, although the engine was getting tired and burning oil. To keep the compression up, I added a pint of 85/90w gear oil to the engine every other time I added a quart of oil. It ran like a champ. I traded it to a roomate for a set of wheels for the Cougar that I had at the time. He had fun with that car. He painted a 10" wide red stripe down the hood and roof of the car and even spent $800 on new Enkei wheels and tires for it. About 6 months later, he pulled out in front of a 60's Econoline van. The van was totaled and undrivable, but the Pinto soldiered on with a watermelon sized dent in right rear quarter. It's end came when he loaned to the brother of some girl he liked. The guy took the oil pan out on a center devider, then proceded to drive it until the engine seized and left for dead in a parking lot. It was one tough little car.
  13. If she loses her job, I have a place she can stay until she gets back on her feet :banmolest:
  14. My first car was a 1968 Mustang GT coupe with a 289 auto. I sold it 3 months later for a then two year old 79 Mustang Ghia 5.0 auto. They were the fist two of a total 11 Mustangs that I have owned over the years.
  15. How about the Queen classic? "Oh you gonna take me home tonight (please) Oh down beside your red firelight Oh you gonna let it all hang out Fat bottomed girls you make the rockin world go round Fat bottomed girls you make the rockin world go round Get on your bikes and ride Oooh yeah them fat bottomed girls Fat bottomed girls Yeah yeah yeah Fat bottomed girls Yes yes"
  16. The Smart has a very strong safety cage that is designed to disapate energy around the occupants. You can see in this video how well it protects them in this indepentant test vs a Mercedes S-Class sedan. Smart Fortwo Crash Test While it does do a great job, as you will see in the video, the weight mismatch causes the car to spin around and roll over. Imagine this being an accident on a four lane road. Any one want to play soccer with a 1800lb ball?
  17. There are fake 'flying butresses' around the rear window.... Throughs the whole roof line off
  18. It was available in 1980. I have seen two in person, both in 2rd Sport body style. One was baby blue with matching plaid seats.... what were they thinking? The 255 also arrived in 1980. All the 79 V8 Fairmonts were 302s
  19. I still see $20k on the Shelby GT and $30k on the GT500. The Dodge dealers are already salivating over the profit
