BREAKING NEWS ON MTP COA VOTE

Recommended Posts

Yes, if anyone has the details I would love to see them. This is one of the reasons I voted NO. We weren't given the whold COA language before we voted. I don't know how anyone could have voted yes without knowing EVERYTHING they were voting on.

We were given the language at a COA meeting upstairs a couple of weeks ago. And Darryl answered questions we had about the COA. But the rest of the plant could care less. There was 27 people at that meeting. The people won't care till the crap hits the fan then everyone cries it's the union's fault. Rep told me today about 1300 people voted. Pretty sad out of around 2600.

Isn't management supposed to run the floor ?

Management is suppose to manage not RUN the floor and take advantage of those working on the floor because ot a coa or anything else. Either your in management or didn't get the point of the message. To those who got the message get ready! ps. on wed.of this wk.when the snow hit the workers who missed work in the dsp were sent to labor relations.

So half of the plant voted, and in a few months, half the plant will be shown the door. I wonder how many "Yes" voters will get walking papers? More than half I bet.

People who have been there for any length of time know how this vote works. No matter how the membership votes, if the union and company want it to pass, it will pass.

When I walked into the plant in the main bldg. Thursday morning i had to stomp through 6 inches of muddy slush to get from the turn styles to the door soaking my shoes because central maintainance dont do their job and clean it, as I proceeded to the bathroom in the main isle slipping and sliding from the floors being soaked I had to pull my shirt over my face because the smell is so bad and would not even dare to attempt to sit in a stall due to the fact that they dont look like they have been cleaned since Walter Reuther was President even though the janitors are on 12 hours this week. A few months back Larry Moskwa the area mgr. did a tour of the skilled trade cribs, 1/2 of the tradesmen couldnt be accounted for, some of the other ones were sleeping in the cribs or down at el georges resteraunt so he decided to hold disciplinary hearings. Its hard to feel sorry for people that do NOTHING to protect their jobs. Darryl was put in a predictament to protect what we have left and I for one am glad he decided not to play russian roulette with my families future. The ones doing the most crying are the ones that no longer get to work for 2 hours a day and collect 12 hours of pay, well instead of blaming the union, take a look in the mirror. We are not competing with Toyota, Chrysler or GM. We are competing against other Ford plants. Blame the International Union for not getting involved at their level and not only allowing whipsawwing but promoting it, they are no different than the workers I spoke of earlier that want to do nothing but still get paid. Darryl did what he had to do to so we could even have a chance at a new product. A lot of people act like we should stick our chest out and say we are not going to change like Wayne assy., well Bill Johnson is not cutting a shift nor are they building a vehicle that people are not buying due to gas prices. How soon we forget that when focuses were not selling and they were only working WAP every other week MTP is the only thing that kept their plant afloat and kept Ford from shipping the rest of that product to mexico. Those are facts not a bunch of speculations by a bunch of shop floor lawyers that wont even attend a union meeting.

John 10:10 you should hope for a new product in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up first. You're peddling the same crap that Darryl did to the membership. When are you people going to wake up and smell the coffee?????? There is NO NEW PRODUCT coming to Michigan Truck. The only thing promised to the workers at the truck plant is the loss of a shift. And while we lose a shift and good workers are given thier walking papers, TFT's will be hard at work because of this COA. You people that voted this COA in should be tarred and feathered. You gave up everything that our brothers and sisters fought for over the last 20, 30, 40 years. It doesn't really affect me because my last day is Thursday, but I feel bad for all of the good people that I've worked next to over the last 10 1/2 years. And if anyone has a problem with anything I've said here today, come see me on the roof rail deck on line one in trim, I'd be glad to debate face to face. Just ask Darryl, he came around on Wednesday spewing his crap and was stuck trying to defend his position for an hour, to no avail. He talked himself in a circle until he got so frustrated he had to walk away. Good luck to all the people who are staying and to everyone who voted yes on the COA, life on the floor is about to change dramatically.

Your ignorant!! You don't, nor does any other YES voters, know what you have done. You probably voted your ass out onto Mich. ave. Outsourcing Janitors, dock work and skilled trades are only one small part of COA.

How about outsourcing PAINT and ENGINE LINE and possibly BODY!! How many FORD employees do ya think they will need to run MTP if that happens, remember, you knuckleheads have given ford an open book to explore anything to save money.

Maybe you can get a job shoveling that slush, but at $10.00 an hour.

Congratulations MTP, You will be a mighty fine NON-UNION shop in the near future.

I agree! Between the TFTs and outsourcing, the real Ford worker will be difficult to find. These people that think the COA is a good thing should tell us what they think in a couple of months, down to one shift, outsourced jobs, and TFTs constantly changing so they don't get more than 89 days. Good going Ford Motor Company. Your products are really going to be top quality. Oh, what a minute. That's right, nobody has promised us a product.

for one thing back then we built the ESCORT no FOCUS

I dont really know how MTP keep the escort from going to mexico, you built trucks and broncos and we built cars. also since they (hermisillo) could only build 40 cars per hour and built a different product line, they could not handle the load, we built 80+ cars a hour back then, that is ok keep voting on shit that makes no sense and you will go along way.

As far as your lazy workers, that happens at all plants weather wayne or dearborn. people will be people. There alot of people that work in trades or cleaners that do work there job and there ass off. you have a handful that think Ford owes them something. Also the management has no clue on how to approach getting the snow removed or cleaning bathrooms, all they know is ok i was told to do this, if they are not told they dont do anything.

As far as wayne is concerned , we was told by the union that we was done after 09, i was told dont worry about the cutbacks in 07, you should be worried about the closing in 09. So what would you do?

VOTE NO ON THE COA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a lie, maybe one or two. Skilled trades has been keeping that hole running, not any more!!! They better hope I don't stay because I will start 'playing by the book!' If they want a war, then they have one!

First of all you had to stomp through 6" of snow because people are taking the buyouts and aren't being replaced in central. Central maintenance is being dissolved in a couple weeks and the people sent to other departments. If you think it is bad now just wait a few weeks. I hear they are going to start asking workers to bring in their own toilet paper. One boss in central has been sent to paint and the other is being shown the door in 2 weeks. I don't think there is much motivation left by those in central. Larry Moskwa is a weasel. All his does is walk fast and look worried with his little 3 ring binder under his arm trying to make us all think he is doing something important. Him and that security guard plant manager and shoe salesmem final maintenance supervisor are not what we need to lead us to the promise land. With regards to skilled trades there are a few slugs just as there are in production but you lump all skilled trades with them. Should the same be done for production? NO.

With regards to Darryl playing not playing russian roulette with your family's future you are right on that. Every chamber has a bullet in it now and were are definately dead on the first shot. Yes, ultimately this is the International's fault for every letting any of this to happen. Why give away anything so close to a contract.

For many of us the only use we have had for the union was to protect our jobs. Since they are assuring with this COA that many of them are gone I would like to stop paying dues or get another union, maybe the teamsters.

Now maybe you have enought senority to keep your job no matter what happens at MTP but if not you will change your thinking in a few months, wait and see.

With the COA there is no more 89 day workers, the workers will now sign a paper that says they can work as long as FORD needs them but they understand they will gain no senority...The temporary workers at DTP are now called Temporary Full Time....No more hiring full time workers when you can hire Temporary Full time workers with less pay and no benefits! THANKS TO THE COA!!!

From what I've been told by a union official is that the union (I'm not sure if local or international was implied) only allows this when the worker is contracted through an independant unionized staffing company. But, what is wrong with a retiree coming back to work again and gaining all the benefits you mentioned? How does this undermine the average hourly workers' attempt at a fair workplace environment? By the way, I am not close to retirement or do I know someone who is taking advantage of this situation.

I am a rep at the MTP plant and there is a lot of misinformation and speculation going around obviously. The best way to get the answers you need is to attend your next Unin meeting and ask or get with the districts and if they cant answer then climb the ladder. But a lot of what is being put out here is wrong and causing discention.

Yeah, I tried going to union meeting to get answers.

But I usually leave in 15 minutes or so, because it always becomes a whine-fest about attendance. "You have to come to work so they will want to do business with us". I got tired of hearing that bullshit, considering 95% of the workforce doesn't fall into that category.

And then you see people with attendance problems get fired, and keep getting hired back, over and over again.

At your plant too!!!!!!!!

And that is the number one reason the union has to change, BEFORE it demands change from you!

That is like telling you to go on a diet to lose 20 pounds to be more efficient, while I sit in my office and gain 30 pounds eating doughnuts.

Leading by example in these hard times, is NOT constituted by forcing something down the members throats while they continue to sit there, fat, dumb, and happy. These people of which we speak, (the workers returned to work after firing for just cause) are the number 1 vote percentage for re instating current officials.(in other words, thank you for getting me my job back.........especially when it is virtually impossible to get fired in the first place, so I really screwed my job up.......not to mention, handicapped all of the co-workers around me through my actions!)

That is NOT to say that ANY current official is bad; or good. But rather----------->if you want your membership to hang its rearend out in the breeze for the supposed improvement of everyone involved, you better be right there with it with yours hanging out too!!!! That is what REAL leaders do. That is, IF you are a real leader and not a real leader wanna-bee!!!!
