Ford Jellymoulds
Australia will stamp and produce the main stream RHD C2 hatchback / sedans and import the specials like Focus ST and Coupe cabriolet versions. I can see USA doing a similar thing with specialist versions. Ford should have let you have the convertible first down under, you could have sorted out the massive problems they had with it here first, with those good engineers you mentioned before that you have down under. Why launch it in a country where it rains all the time, sometimes l wonder if anybody has any common sense at Ford. Ford have pissed off 910 people on this one website alone. http://www.topgear.co.uk/news/2007/03/29/f...oupe-cabriolet/
jpd80
FoE can keep those Cabriolet problems to themselves Ford Jellymoulds. FoA had a bucket load of problems with the ill fated FWD Capri exported to NA 1991-1994. It was based on a Ford Lazer/Mazda 323 but that didn't save it. Only hope the Americans forgive us one day......
pcsario
WHY is the Euro Focus so much more expensive? As Richard admits we didn't get it due to ignorance at Dearborn's end, it wouldn't cost more than the '08 FuckUs when all is said and done. Don't buy the "it's too expensive!!1" excuse people continually use here to justify the gap NA has with FOE's legendary standards of excellence, those same guys who base their claims on a simple currency conversion, are the same ones who would deny Mazda is selling their cars at a huge loss in the US, even if they also cost "a fortune" in Europe. Mazda's products in NA are just as good as their european versions.
pcsario
Hmm. I thought I read that more than a few British dealers had been told the whole project was shelved. I always saw that as FOE wanting to protect the ST's momentum. Kinda like GM denying the whole blue devil thing.
rmc523
BTW, check out this concept by CWW for a 3-door Focus. Sharp eh? That is a good looking car.
rmc523
I couldn't disagree with you more. The Mustang and F150 are both uniquely AMERICAN. The F150 is the perenial best seller. To "trade" them for a couple of, albeit VERY nice and award winning sedans, would be corporate suicide.....here. If you wanted to argue trading our Fusion/Focus for their Mondeo/Focus I would somewhat (only somewhat!) agree. Only somewhat because our Focus is the economy/budget Ford for now. Maybe when the Mazda 2 varient comes out the Focus can go upmarket. Nor do I dislike the Fusion/Milan....quite the contrary, I think they are very handsome, the interiors are very nice and are the right size. Just add a smoother I4 at the lower end, and a Twin Force V6 (SVT????) at the high end, and a MANUAL transmission and then we'd have a WORLD class AMERICAN sedan. Something I don't see brought up here is European quality, Ford's in particular. FoA seems to be doing a very good job of improving quality....where would FoE stack up? http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index...ost&id=4646 theres your SVT Fusion. LSFan00
The SVT Fusion in that sketch is just silly. Nothing should be done to the Fusion prior to the engine changes and the HEADLIGHTS. They are just silly, and need to be fixed already. I really can't believe Ford NA can't even fix a stupid headlight design within 7 years. Why does everyone always think that when they dislike something, it must be true for everyone? It doesn't really matter though, because the headlights on the test mule seem to have some change to them.

They're very distinctive.
timmm55
I have an '07 Fusion and I like the headlights. They're very distinctive. Me too. Very "jewel" like. It's the most distinctive part of the car. For those that want a more conservative version get the Milan.

Speaking of Milan's headlights, I was in front of one the other night, they're pretty distinctive at night, w/ the projector light itself and then the turn signal 'eyebrow' above them.
