RangerM
Reading this article. Saw this at the end..... The T6 Ranger will go on sale globally, with production to be carried out in South Africa, Thailand and the USA. Hadn't seen that before. Where would it be in the US, if true? The article is wrong, the T6 Ranger production doesn't start until early 2011. Since Thailand covers Asia and Europe, the new South African plant will cover Latin America and perhaps USA and Canada....
Pioneer
Reading this article. Saw this at the end..... Hadn't seen that before. Where would it be in the US, if true? Probably DTP or KCAP, and be built alongside the F-150. DTP was originally supposed to build the Ranger, ya know. silvrsvt
DTP was originally supposed to build the Ranger, ya know. they've been saying that since the damn plant opened up! Just like the Ranger has been supposed to been getting an update since 2002

Just like the Ranger has been supposed to been getting an update since 2002  You misunderstood me. The DTP plant was not originally scheduled to build the F-150. It was supposed to build the Ranger when it was completed. http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories....65643&EDATE=

I suspect that Ford will continue to build Ranger's in Argentina. I don't think South Africa is part of Mercosur, so I'd be surprised for them to move production to a country where they would incur duties. No way is Ford going to import pickups from South Africa into the U.S. and incur the "chicken tax".

RichardJensen
Not that I am aware of. There's no closing date in the current UAW contract. But then again, the current contract isn't quite as non-negotiable as previous contracts
