fordmantpw
Unbelievable yet hilarious. So by your logic the top of the line 5.4L engine in my truck (which was the most popular engine that year) should have been standard as well and not an extra cost option. Thanks for the laugh. Hmmm, let's see, the 5.4 was standard in the FX4, Lariat, and up, and it was also standard (practically, good luck finding one without the 5.4) in the XLT SuperCrew, because EVERYONE WOULD HAVE OPTED FOR IT ANYWAY! That's the point I was making, and thanks for helping move prove it.
RichardJensen
And remember the Edsel was the product of focus groups and mass market analysis. No, it was not.. The Edsel was proposed by Jack Reith (not 'focus groups'), was placed in the hands of Richard Krafve (who had argued against an "Edsel" type division earlier). Unlike the Thunderbird, the name of the Edsel division was done entirely in house, from the bizarre proposals of Marianne Moore to the final resigned decision to call it Edsel. The ONLY 'market analysis' performed on the "E" Division--the one developed by Krafve--had said it was a BAD idea.
