silvrsvt
Ok guys couple questions on Incentives: 1. When do they change? Are they changed monthly? 2. How does it work when you order a car? do you get the incentives at the time car is ordered, or when the car hits the dealer lots? Thanks
Edgy Girl
I don't know how often they change - but all incentives have expiry dates. I just picked up my ordered Edge last night. You entitled to the incentives at time of signing and ordering, however, if on delivery the incentives are better, you have the option to take those. In my case, I have A plan pricing, plus delivery allowance ($1500), plus costco ($1000), plus 0%. Currently out there - Employee pricing, $1000, no costco, and small interest charge. I know my delivery allowance expired before employee pricing was launched. Edited August 16, 2012 by Edgy Girl

How the heck did you get Costco pricing on A plan? I can get A/Z plan pricing and I thought that was inclusive of anything else besides financing options and pricing incentives... akirby
Please be aware that the rules are different in the U.S. and Canada. Canada has always had the option of taking incentives at time of order or delivery. In the U.S. this option was only available to a small group of dealers until recently. Now I believe most dealers can offer incentives at the time of order, but I don't think all dealers can do it yet. You need to ask the dealer when you place the order to be sure. Also understand that if you qualify for this that you can't mix and match - you can't take the cash rebate at time of order and the financing rate at time of delivery - it's all or nothing. Edgy Girl
DIdn't realize the US had different rules. However, I did get all cash rebates, plus 0%. on top of A Plan. I could build it on Ford.ca that way too before I went to the dealer. My only missing piece was the A plan savings.
Edgy Girl
This is true... its either all at order, or all at delivery.

I forgot - did you actually use a A plan pin to get the A plan prices or was this the "everybody gets employee pricing" sale? If it's the latter then that's why you still got the Costco rebate. I don't think you can get the Costco rebate on top of an actual A plan sale but I could be wrong.

Another thing is that sometimes there are incentives that you don't see advertised...I had a friend get a 2012 F-150 via X plan recently, and they gave him a 1K rebate for financing through FMC, which wasn't on the website. I'm just trying plan when I order my next car...I'm most likely going to do it next January...and I'm figuring 8-12 weeks to get it....so I get it the first part of March when I don't have to worry about snow as much. I'll have to ask about the incentives then...I've never gotten them on a car (just A plan) because the cars I got where popular and didn't need them or wheren't offered. Sometimes the website just hasn't been updated, but more often than not what you're seeing are regional incentives offered by the local dealer associations and therefore not advertised nationally. That has nothing to do with X plan per se. There can also be additional incentives available via X plan (or A/D/Z plan) not available to regular buyers. This is typically done when there are dealer incentives (like rebates but paid directly to the dealer and not advertised). These are quite common on older models to help the dealer get them off the lots.
Edgy Girl
My brother works at OAC... So it was A plan, order was placed before end of May before launch of employee pricing. FYI - the story here, is that the Costco deal is dead. No longer to be offered.
WillSD
silvrsvt -- The current incentive protection plan (program #33838) expires 01/02/2013. I would think that a new program would be announced late December 2012 but nothing is certain (as evidenced by the reduction in the commercial upfit program). All dealers are now able to claim incentive protection and most incentives and discounted rates are protected. Unprotected programs include FDAF, employee pricing, non-cash programs (gas cards / SIRIUS promos / etc), ESP promos, early bird and discount packages. SoonerLS
I don't know that there's a set schedule for incentives (f'rinstance, in July and August of '06, they had obscene incentives on the '06 LSes to get them off the Lincoln dealers' lots, and I'm pretty sure that they neither started at the beginning of nor ended at the end of a month), but most of the advertised incentives I've seen have said "must take delivery by" a specific date. silvrsvt
Does anyone know why this is happening? I went on the local dealership site (had an SHO on the lot) and it had a $2500 rebate on it. I logged onto the Ford Plan site and when I went to the same dealership though the plan site, the rebate was only $2000?

They're done through the local dealer association and I don't think the Ford website keeps up with them very well. You really just have to check with the dealer. Edgy Girl
My first thought - when was the car on the lot shipped and received by dealer during a particular promotional time, so the window sticker reflects the rebate available at delivery to dealer. It could be that this dealer in certain geographical area got additional incentives and the Ford site is national? The Ford site would only reflect the current offer available. FYI - Costco discount is available again in Canada... I guess they changed their mind about discontinuing....
silvrsvt
It could be that this dealer in certain geographical area got additional incentives and the Ford site is national? Nope the Plan site is exactly like the Ford site after you sign in, except it tells you the A/Z Prices instead of regular prices. I had to put in my ZIP code... WillSD
If you are looking at a 2013, Smart VINCENT shows a total of $2500 if you finance through FMCC: #12150 Retail Customer Cash $2000 and #12152 Ford Credit Retail Bonus Customer Cash $500. I used a Baltimore zip 21201. 2012's show a total of $3500. Do not know why the plan site would differ from the dealership.
jpd80
General question on incentives, Are you better off taking a cash incentive rather than taking a 0% financing offer? To me it sounds like you're paying the interest as part of the full MSRP anyway.....

To me it sounds like you're paying the interest as part of the full MSRP anyway..... Depends on the rate you can get on your own and the amount of the rebate. It's usually better to take the cash but if you had bad credit and could only get 6% instead of 2.9 and the rebate isn't too high then it might be better to take the 0%. There are calculators on the web that will compare it for you.

Depends, since I can get A/Z plan on my cars and have good credit, I can get my own financing through my bank and get the cash incentives from Ford. dante hicks
Not to get all socialist here or anything, but on my last two new cars (a 2008 -- when the poop was hitting the fan-- and a 2012) I got interest rates either better than Ford (in 2008) or within a 1/2 point in interest at a credit union. My experience is that they offer rates significantly better than banks (especially national ones).
