jasonj80
General Motors (GM) raised the prices of its popular Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks by up to $1,500, a company spokesperson said Friday...http://www.foxbusiness.com/industries/2013/10/11/gm-hikes-prices-for-new-pickup-trucks/
jpd80
A understandable move and one that will most likely ease pressure on supplying '14 product range and also help GM Clear superseded inventory without the need for even higher incentives.. Extreme4x4
GM raises price of 2014 Silverado models by $1500. In other news, $2500 rebates now available on 2014 Silverado and Sierra.
Bryan1
What a bunch of scammers. This just after GM said they were introducing new incentives of $1000 + $500 cashback.
EBFlex
What a bunch of scammers. This just after GM said they were introducing new incentives of $1000 + $500 cashback. Right, because no other manufacturer does the exact same thing...
jpd80
Right, because no other manufacturer does the exact same thing... Adding significant incentives ($1500) to new products inside a month of release? Restricted supply is usually enough to keep prices at or above MSRPs. GM is feeling the pressure from competitors, that's why it's adding incentives to basically offset the price increase. Bryan1
EBF, You're missing the point. What manuf's say they are rolling out incentives ($1500) and then a week later increase the base price by more than $2000? And first they said they were keeping the prices in line with the outgoing model. If this was GM's plan all along it is kind of screwy. blwnsmoke
They should have come out with the price increase first when launched then offer the debates when they realized they still have slow sales and found out no one wants the 2014 either. akirby
Goodness, Men (and Gloria)... I got dark for a few days and EBFlex goes all P71 on us? I'd say it's a cross between P71 and FordBuyer with just a touch of Blackhorse thrown in for good measure........
PREMiERdrum
I'd say it's a cross between P71 and FordBuyer with just a touch of Blackhorse thrown in for good measure........ I've found that a hit record is like a stew. All the ingredients have to come together just right. Otherwise, it's just soup.
aneekr
Right, because no other manufacturer does the exact same thing... Exactly. BMW also put forth sales incentives to counteract increased base prices, to cite one recent example. (Link 1, Link 2)
EBFlex
Exactly. BMW also put forth sales incentives to counteract increased base prices, to cite one recent example. (Link 1, Link 2) Yep, exactly what I said on October 12th. Funny how stuff like that keeps happening. Bryan1
That's not the same scenario. First GM did a big press release that since they did such a good job on the redesign that there would be no price increase. Last week they roll out incentives of $1000 or $1500. as sales declined. Now this week a big price increase of $2500. to likely add more fake discounts to make up for the slumping sales.
Bryan1
GM shouts from the rooftops that the price is the same....and then raises it. A big price increase at this stage is suprising after they just got done announcing the incentives. The odd thing is they announced the incentives first and then the price increase and after saying the price would not increase price. GM has a very mixed up plan. PS Here is the headline on Drudge...
