Report: Liberals Were Not Targeted by the IRS Despite Claims to Contrary

Recommended Posts

What, you think that just because a Republican gets elected President that he only appoints conservatives or gets rid of all the liberals in the DC government apparatus. You think Reagan himself actually appointed Lois Lerner back in 86? lol No she was not high enough on the ladder to even be noticed by Reagan. You can't get rid of all the liberals in the DC government apparatus Mark. There's not enough interested conservatives in DC to fill all the vacancies that would be left. Your post doesn't change the fact that Lois Lerner is a hardcore leftist who abused the power of the federal government to target and harass conservatives. That is reality, accept it.

Mark, this is not a court of law. We could give a shit for your spin. She plead the 5th. She lied. We don't need law degrees to figure that out. You are used to representing guilty people so you have lower standards than the rest of the public. Get over it. Some times guilty people do get caught, slime lawyers or not.

I do not know anything about Lerner nor do I care about who her friends are or political affiliation. By most accounts the IRS was engaged in selective acts that they clearly should not have been and Lerner was either knowledgeable of it or involved with it. Either way she has been less than honest about what she knows or her involvement. I bet some time sitting in a jail cell by herself would jog her memory.and hopefully she gets it if she chooses not to testify and fully answer all job related questions and let the chips fall where they may.

She was well paid to do a job yet can not or will not say what she was actually doing or not doing.

So you would feel the same way about Florida Governor Rick Scott who pled the Fifth 75 times in the medicare fraud case against his company or all of the Chris Christie adminsitration officials who have done likewise? How about the members of the Bush Justice depawho refused to testify in the U.S. Attorneys investigation and Valerie Plame matter? Are they all automatically liars as well?

The Fifth Amendment exists for a reason. The Founders had reason to be concerned about the unlimited power of the government to coerce individuals to testify against themselves as in the King's courts. Why do you want to undermine the Constitution?

They will never get a conviction. She won't spend any time in jail, partly because Issa misused the process.

And yet listening to the Right, they would have you believe that Lerner was hand picked by Obama to bring down the tea party.

By the way, you never addressed the issue of whether any of these groups are even entitled to 501 c 4 status.

This is not a court of law. I never suggested that the constitution be changed in any way, nice red herring. Pleading the 5th doesn't mean you are not guilty. And yes I would feel the same way about anyone that did what Lerner did. As to the others, I don't know the details, but if they lied about illegal activities, the way Lerner did then they are just as guilty.

The reality is that liberals were not targeted during the IRS scandal. Now that it has come out you and other liberals have been caught in the lie of saying they were and you lack the character to admit it.

It hasn't come out that way at all.

You believe the report Issa's staffers wrote, while I believe the statement of Rep Cummings, who said they have documents to show otherwise and intentionally did not include them.

Somewhere, probably between both sides, lies the truth and you're not likely to believe it.

The same Elijah Cummings who apparently lied about his staff contacting the IRS for tax documents on conservative groups?

BOOM!! lol

Mark you seem to think I would actually be upset if subordinates of Chris Christie (or others you listed) did something illegal and got caught. Let me assure you that I wouldn't. I couldn't care less about the Republican party. I think it is every bit as corrupt and crooked as the liberal democrat party. If those people you listed committed some politically motivated illegal act than by all means they should be held accountable. That is the problem with this country, we don't hold these people accountable. They spend their entire careers lining their pockets with tax payer money and conducting back room deals that enrich themselves and their select friends at our expense. Both parties are equally guilty of it. So do not assume that just because I have started this thread that I am in some way trying to take up for the Tea Party, the Republican party or any party for that matter. I started the thread because we have a poster here who is so dogmatically entrenched in his worship of the liberal party that he has allowed hatred and anger to consume him and it spills out in his posts. So when I can site examples of how flawed his hero's are I don't mind doing it because maybe, just maybe I can help Langston and some others around here to come to the realization that it is a fools errand to take up the cause of either of these political factions. They couldn't care less about the average American no matter how much lip service they pay to the notion that they do. They like us when it comes election time but the day after the election you and I are forgotten and they are right back to the crooked ass corrupt activities that they occupy themselves with between elections. I have no doubt that there are probably a few genuinely good people in politics who really are trying to make things better for our country and for the citizens. But the vast majority of them are just in it for themselves and for the money. Harry Reid for instance wasn't worth squat financially when he was first elected to the Senate. He's a multi-millionaire now. You think he got that rich off of his Senate salary. Hell no. Now if you ask me who I am more likely to vote for than yes the answer is a Republican and the reasons for that is because i know better than to trust the Democrat party with my Second Amendment rights. If they figured they could get away with it, the Democrats would ban the Second Amendment tomorrow and start confiscating guns. Additionally the liberals are just to eager to convert this country into some socialists utopia or something and one thing I know for sure about socialism is that it doesn't work for the rank and file citizen. It destroys opportunity and it destroys the desire to improve ones lot in life. It centralizes all the power and economic wealth of a nation in the hands of the government under the false guise that the government knows best how do to everything and if we would just be willing to turn over our every freedom to them they would take such good care of us. It is a lie and a fantasy at the same time and I will never support it. But trust me, there are many things about the Republican party that I do not agree with.

I told you that Lois Lerner is not one of my heroes. So your not showing me how flawed my heroes are a all.

It's quite possible that he did such.

And conservatives are championing a report by 2012's most corrupt Darrel Issa.

As i suggested the truth will lie somewhere in between the two, or do you disagree with that?

Fixed it for you. Fouled it all up but left it in a quotation of your words.

How about a gentleman's agreement on this FIFY thing.

When doing so, don't delete the original wording, instead use the strike-through and bold text for the new wording.

That clarifies what was the original words by the person being quoted and still offers the "zinger" of the modified text.

What do you say guys?

Personally I'm down for if you are going to quote someone, just quote them and lets stop editing other's quotes altogether.

Somewhere in between. Seemingly much closer to the Republicans' version of events in this case though. Cummings has been trying to throw up a smoke screen on this from the very beginning, which makes the most recent relevations about his possible involvement stink to high heaven of a conflict of interest.
