sullynd
CD6 isn't Lincoln exclusive. Ok, so in addition to [Rhetorical] tags, I need to add [Humor] tags. Will it be used in the Mmmm-Kay-Tee??
2b2
is "CD6" just a mis-spelling of the nearly-magical Fwd/Awd/Rwd "D6" future-platform? or a sign of a deeper problem?
RichardJensen
There's not much magic to it. Audi could've done it, but I'm not 100% certain that they have any RWD exclusive transmissions.
akirby
D6 is what the press reported but that was incorrect. It's known internally as CD6.
bzcat
Thinking about the Everest, it is one vehicle segment that Ford, IMO does not participate in US market right now. All kinds of crossover variants-Escape, Edge, Flex, Explorer, Lincoln versions, but if you want a true 4 x 4 you buy a Jeep, Durango or a Japanese vehicle. We will never see it, unless all of a sudden T-6 Ranger makes sense and they build that here. Ranger/Everest are same platform correct??? Ford doesn't participate in it because it is really small markets. There are only 2 players left in it: 4Runner and Xterra, and both are basically being "Ranger'ed" indefinitely. I wouldn't include Jeep Grand Cherokee or Durango in the same segment because they have wider appeal and are available in simple RWD version. And Jeep Wrangler is essentially in a class of one. People buy Wrangler because they want one, not because they looked at 4Runner and decided Wrangler is a better vehicle. I really don't see a market for Everest in the US. I'm sure it is a very nice and competent SUV but it is based on a pickup truck chassis and those things just don't sell in the US like they used to.
