blockisle9
Over the past couple of months I would get in the car and discover a completely dead battery and would call road side assist for a jump. The first time I thought it was a fluke and ignored it. A week or so later it did it again, again called road side assist, jump started it and went to the dealer. They checked it out and said the battery failed there testing and replaced it. Again all was good for awhile, then another dead battery. Back to the dealer, they kept it for awhile but could not duplicate it. There was no abnormal load, so they charged it up and gave it back. A day later, same thing. This time I mentioned an intermitted problem with the passenger door passive entry system (I mentioned it earlier also) I suggested that they disconnect it for now to see if maybe it might have something to do with it. They kept the car for a week, they actually replaced the handle instead of disconnecting it. ( I wasn't overly concerned with that at this point, but it am glad it's repaired) Just got the car back, only time will tell if the battery dies again. The dealers been very good with me and supplied me with a loaner each time. I understand there frustration trying to diagnose an intermittent problem. Does anyone have any ideas what it possibly could be. There is nothing plugged in the charger. Sorry for the long post.
YT90SC
Have them replace the shifter. If the park detect switch (part of the shifter) fails, it keeps the IC awake.
blockisle9
Wouldn't I notice if that happens? I put the car in park, turn the car off and everything in the interior goes off when I open the door.
YT90SC
Most of the intermittent battery drain issues lately are park detect switches. The cluster can remain on with the screen blank, the switch can change states when the vehicle is not in use as well.
blockisle9
I'll mention that to them if and when it happens again. I'm hoping the passive entry on the passenger door that they repaired was the problem.
ajcomputer
Does your vehicle have MFT or the 4.2" color screen for the radio? Also, what year? Edited December 16, 2014 by ajcomputer
blockisle9
It's 2013 Titanium. Yes it has MFT with Navigation
ajcomputer
Then your vehicle isn't affected if it has MFT. The only thing besides an intermittent problem could be the charging system. Should have been checked when it was at the dealer, though.
akirby
There are reports of a faulty park sensor causing battery drains. Or it could be just about any module or sensor.
khyros
Do you have a panoramic moon roof? Apparently the early 2013's have a TSB for key off battery load due to the motors on it not turning off.
blockisle9
Well it's been over 3 months and the problem has not returned. It looks like it was the intermitted problem with the passenger door passive entry system. After they fixed that the problem hasn't returned. pecouvillon
I have had the same think happen on my 2010 Escape Limited, without navigation. It's been driving me crazy.
