123
It should be coming apparent to even the most diehard union members that IUAW no longer represents us but we are just a revenue stream for them. Now is the time to not only send Ford a signal that we helped them out when they needed it most and now it's time to repay the favor. It's time to stand up and say IUAW it's time you quit stealing from us and start doing the job you are supposed to do. Represent the desires of the dues paying members. Ford did'nt screw us last time, IUAW AND Bob King did. Verbal agreement from a licensed lawyer. REALLY? Raising our dues without a vote by the membership, stealing a half a billion with a B from our strike fund. IUAW has a fiduciary responsibility to represent the members interests and money. Not the interest of the free spending IUAW and their interests. The new breed of Ford employee is young and tech savvy. They can move information around quickly and efficiently. No longer can you promise some BS in one plant and not expect it to be public knowledge in minutes. If you think giving these self serving bastards our health care money and expect it to be good, I urge you to talk to a few retirees on VEBA. My local 249 fights hard for the needs it's members. I wish I could say the same for international. If you think I'm a union hater you didn't read the above. What I am sick and tired of is an International that puts their needs and desires before that of their members. In my humble opinion.

caustic
Bob King is no longer around and everyone he appointed was replaced. Well not everyone but a lot. You do understand when Williams took over he cleaned house as much as he could right? A lot of people got sent back to their regions if they didn't want to be demoted. It'll take time to see changes, give it time. A good number of good people replaced the lazy Bob King people. uaintworkin
Detroit News article: Jewell states, “My job right now is to explain things, answer all their questions and let some of them vent.” That's the problem. Should have said "My job right now is to explain things, answer questions and let some of US vent." Union leaders look at us as them. What happened to solidarity? I remember my first day of orientation when a union rep said he hates when people on the floor say the union does this or the union does that. WE ARE THE UNION! Great idea. But between statements by Jewell and assigned parking spots for union reps, it doesn't take long to realize there is no solidarity.

Patronage... nepotism....good ol boy... girl friends.... caustic that is the "template". You ever been to a constitutional convention? All I will say is "The King is Crowned" - "Long Live the King". You do realize that being lead by the steel ring in your nose is as far away from the union ideology as it can be, right. Give yourself a break caustic, it is not hard to see. cal50
Looks like their bad decision making cost all of us a few more bucks~ http://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/lawsuit-news/48793-uaw-pay-355m-health-plan-class-action-settlement/ "On Jan. 30, United Auto Workers (UAW) agreed to pay $355 million in a retiree health plan class action settlement, resolving claims that the labor union made unauthorized changes to the employees’ health plan, thus allegedly violating collective bargaining agreements." Its nice the union "leadership" is always smiling for photos. Most of us would be smiling also knocking down the wages and benefits they get paid.

123
This is our IUAW at work: Although they have been shocked by the resistance of workers, there is no doubt that union and company executives, along with officials from the Obama administration, are already preparing a strategy to try to wear down opposition, divide workers and impose the dictates of the corporate and financial elite. This will likely include the threats of plant shutdowns and mass layoffs to blackmail workers into submission.

They will do the same thing with co-op money if they can get their greedy fucking hands on it. How much work do you think they really did to earn that money? Nothing but a bunch of thieves but don't worry they have your best interest in mind!

Hmmm I'm no CPA or IRS auditor but that doesn't look like 30k paid from the veba to them. That looks like a total cost of benefits to me. If that's pay from the Veba to them why do several regional directors like Rory Gamble make more then Estrada and Hollifield? Seems like a grasp at nothing. Until there us a check or bank statement that says 100% that 29k is not wages and benefits I call BS. Seriously guys the WSWS and labornotes are not sources of real info.
