Back then, I think it was speculated that it was just to make sure SYNC really works with Android. But this makes total sense now why SYNC 4 was not rolled out on some models... Looks like Ford will just jump to the next platform developed by Google. Ford already pulled the plug on its own system in China and switched to Baidu's platform in 2019. Looks like it will do the same in the US with Google. It may still keep the SYNC name for marketing purposes though...
