  2. Because the car will be tuned for US tastes instead of being half-assed like the Astra was. Why do you think its taking so long to bring over the Fiesta, besides not having plant ready for it? Define small car...cars smaller then a Focus won't sell in large numbers in the US and that seems like most of what Chrysler is getting from them, then add in the odd-ball styling that they have and they won't be big player in market...they'd be lucky to sell 50K or less of any of the models they have coming over here in their current form.

I did Basic at Knox and was a Bradley Automotive systems mechanic there in 1993-1994 Oh about me, I'm 34...been a Ford Fan since I was a kid, My old man officially retired from Ford just a month or two ago, even though EAP was closed back in 2004 or so. Did 4 years active duty as a Bradley mechanic an another 4 in the National Guard...I HATED it. Was always into computers, so went to tech school for them after getting out of the Army and been doing IT since 98. Finished up College last year. I work for the Army Reserve since 2001 as contractor...so I've been involved with the Military in some shape or form since I was 18 years old.

  6. Last time I checked MPG wasn't a measure of emissions :P Still lots of talk about regulating CO2 output from cars in the States, but personally its not worth the hot hair that it actually is...
  7. Wow the styling does nothing for me (ok the Mito is kinda interesting, but overstyled for American likes IMO), why do I see this whole thing going down in a ball of flames?

I've heard lots of issues with the 02 MY Explorer...parents had an EB V6 Explorer that needed rear diff replaced,transmission then the torque converter replaced a year later...they got rid of it and replaced it with a Sable. Sister has a 06 Explorer Limited V8 and AFAIK she has had zero power train issues with it.

  10. Its called competition, same reason why we have 265hp+ V6 engines in a 4 door Sedan.
  11. Can I ask WTF are you smoking? The GT has 310 HP and keeps up with the Camcrapmo and Challenger fine...then if that isn't enough, you can get a GT500 with 540HP...where else can you get a car for under 50K with that much power? The 2010 is more then competitive with the other pony cars out there and when the 5L gets in it next year, it won't be a even a contest...
  12. I think it boils down to this- The Taurus is a totally new tophat design that will be around longer then the 2010 Fusion. The 2010 Fusion is just a mid-cycle refresh that has to use previous gen styling cues as its base point. The Taurus already had the Dave look with the tribar grill when it was refreshed two years ago or so and needed some thing new...remember the new Taurus was pulled up a year or two faster then it was supposed to be. The 2012 Fusion will have a grill similar to the new Taurus when it moves to the same platform as the Mondeo.
  13. The problem is that the competition has already settled that fight...why would you buy a 150HP car when you can get a 265HP V6 instead at the same price with just alittle bit more MPG? Then you'll have auto mags calling your products underpowered etc etc.

  15. Sorta misinterpreting what Ford is doing here... The only all new product from Europe is the Fiesta and it should be here before next summer The Focus is being merged again and we are getting updated models based on some of the models already in production in Europe The Fusion and Mondeo are going to share the same platform and should be the same car for all intents with minor styling changes. No need to have two different platforms doing the same thing. The Fiat 500 is a fucking tiny car...the Ford KA is its platform mate and its smaller then a Mini or Fiesta. I don't see many Fiat 500s being sold over here...
  16. I'd like to see a smoked chrome grill like what part of the sport package for the previous gen Fusion. I've seen one locally in a grey color where the chrome nearly matches it....nice looking car
  17. The problem is that there isn't much of a market in the US for a car smaller then the Focus. Even when $4 dollar gas come back to the US, people would much rather drive in a I4 Fusion getting 32-34 MPG then a Fiesta that does 38 or so..and its going to take Years for rebranded Fiats to make it to the states, we'd be lucky to see them by 2012 at the earliest..and I'm willing to be that Chrysler doesn't make it that long.
  18. Hmmm interesting, but kinda stupid? The CC is a really nice looking car IMO, but yet that would slot it against the Fusion or Focus when it does come out and its a 4 door coupe?
  19. I seriously wonder if this was even true...they where just getting fat off Truck and SUV sales like everyone else at the time and decided, hey lets make all our cool concept cars into reality while totally ignoring the low to mid end of the passenger sedan market!
  20. I'm assuming that there was a covering of snow on the ground with no blacktop showing....55 is too fast If was down to blacktop with it just starting to snow and not sticking to the surface, then thats ok.
  21. From what I understand, Fiat's version was out before Ford released Sync in North America.
