  1. I am loath to bring politics into the discussion, but to ignore that Japan was/is an ally, while China is an enemy is to ignore the elephant in the room.
  2. Ford won't be doing any development of the VW-derived chassis. It's dead man walking.
  3. This is exactly what Cadillac tried with the various 'V' products. They didn't move the needle sales-wise, even though the products were well reviewed by the motoring press. In fact, they were pretty much a failure in terms of appealing to "a lot of people". Given this reality, there's no reason to think a Lincoln redux of the Cadillac failure would produce any different outcome.
  4. The Mach E is pretty much on an orphan chassis, so it's unlikely to get significant investment. The investment is being plowed into the next gen products.
  5. The link in the OP is cribbing from an Automotive News report about future product plans from a couple of weeks ago. AN reported: Aside from that assertion, the article does not contain any concrete information. It does contain the following speculation about Corsair: FWIW. That's quite a bit of smoke and mirrors to throw out a headline 'Lincoln confirms plans for 2 New Models'. https://www.autonews.com/future-product/lincoln-promises-2-new-models-sales-rebound
  6. Also from the linked article: Let's see, 7,129 versus 746. Not so great for something "high quality, very competitive" . Again, LOL.
  7. Here, I'll answer the question you're dodging. From your own link: Again, LOL.
  8. LOL The conversation is about the Brightdrop vans. Stay on topic.
  9. And how many of these "high quality, very competitive" EVs have GM sold so far this year?
  10. It's presumably battery (as mentioned by silversvt) and tranny (CVT) - look how much difficulty Ford have had just keeping up with Maverick and Escape hybrid needs. They need to substantially increase their supply of both to add Bronco Sport - hopefully they're pushing that envelope right now.
  11. Might be CVT supply from Ohio(?) as another supply constraint issue.
  12. The article says the dealers were shown a mix: The way the information is presented in the article: - The compact van seems to be most "real", as a physical prototype was shown. - The Mustang variants, while shown as renderings, were more fleshed out including variants under consideration, thus more 'real' and likely for production. - The EV variants were also shown as renderings, but characterized as intended to show "what is possible" from the low cost EV platform, versus representing concrete products already designed and planned. I'm not saying this is absolute truth, just trying to provide a summary of how the information was presented in the article.
  13. Wasn't that one of Mullally's criticisms of some of the show cars that preceded him - the organization admitted they couldn't be built, so he asked why show something we can't actually build?
  14. This time it's Chinese owned MG: https://europe.autonews.com/automakers/chinas-mg-may-open-car-plant-mexico?utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Newsletter-ANEDaily-20240808
  15. Are you paying attention to what Farley claims is happening with the skunkworks EV team in California? This is exactly what he's said they're doing. Why post as though it's not happening?
  16. I don't think Tesla are the bogey any more, China Inc. are the bogey now.
  17. Better ask if you'll need coding to support the HUD - it might not be as straightforward as adding the part.
  18. Only for exports to the US and Canada. To the extent this announced plant targets Mexico and South America (which was stated in the OP), they have zero say.
  19. Another interpretation of "none" is "I like what I have and so am not interested in a 2025".
  20. Didn't they also have a supply contract with an outside firm (ZF?) for which they were obligated to take x amount of trannys for x amount of years?
  21. That has to be a misunderstanding on the part of that article, doesn't it? Everything else I've read is Farley talking about those figures in terms of price point, not margin. Remember the context for the discussion of these vehicles is "competing with the Chinese on low price models" - I get your point based on that article you read, I just think the author misconstrued the information they heard.
