  1. Any chance they will offer the Ecoboost option in the F150?
  2. I have a 2006 Mountaineer that came with the overhead Rear DVD Entertainment System from factory. It had its flaws with the huge blind spot created when the screen was folded down for viewing. However, the screen was protected when folded up and not in use. I have not seen an actual Explorer with the Invision system, but only images. I see no protection of the screen when the system is not in use. Wouldn't one good accidental poke from the tip of an umbrella while entering the second or third row or the loading of a long piece of lumber render those units useless if damaged? bogeydog, does the screen have a hard plastic protective covering? Is there anyway to protect the units that I"m not seeing in the images? Just curious, dusMerc
  3. When I look at options for Edge/MKX, I don't see Active Park Assist. I assume this is because the vehicles do not come with electric power steering. Is that assumption correct? If it is, does anyone know if the vehicles will have electric power steering in the next model year?
  4. I don't see a cool box (2nd row console) as an option for the 2011 Ford Explorer.....add that along with a lane departure warning feature and the ability to use my IPhone apps with Sync.......I would pay for a Lincoln version with no hesitation
  5. I totally agree. The Aviator was a nice vehicle.....I was hoping that Lincoln would have kept it around for the 2006 model year to see how they would have differentiated it from the Explorer/Mountaineer. If you look at the list of options available on a fully loaded 2011 Explorer Limited; it makes you wonder, what else could Lincoln add (other than the new Lincoln front end)? I've owned two Mountaineers....it would have been interesting to see what the Mercury version would have looked like as well (wishful thinking).
  6. It appears that the Nav units for 2010 Mountaineer/Explorer are identical to the units in the 2010 Expedition. The expedition offers a rear view camera...and the Mountaineer/Explorer doesn't. Does anyone know if it is possible to add the rear view camera (thru the Nav unit) for the Mountaineer/Explorer?
  7. The overhead Rear DVD Entertainment System had its flaws with the huge blind spot created when the screen was folded down for viewing. However, the screen was protected when folded up and not in use. From the images I've seen of the DVD system in the headrest, I see no protection of the screen. Wouldn't one good accidental poke from the tip of an umbrella render those units useless?
  8. No rude comments.....just a nod! I owned a 1975 Granada Ghia; Nice car!! I traded up to a 1979 Versailles. Nice driving and great looking car (I loved the roof line changes introduced with the 1979 model year)....lots of problems with the carburetor...but I really liked the car. If I had the space to accommodate another vehicle, I would really consider looking for a 1980 Versailles (original condition, restored or restoration project). LM4EVR, did you own one?
  9. I'm curious, why do you feel Mountaineer should be based on Taurus X instead of next generation of Explorer? I'm not knowledgeable about Ford platforms, but I think the Taurus X and next gen Explorer are both based on the D3 platform. If Ford did continue the the Mountaineer, I think it would be cool if they based it on the D4 platform, on which the Flex/MKT are based on. What ever Ford decides to do, I would hope the Mountaineer would be a part of its future. Thanks, dusMerc

  12. Here is the order guide for what may be the last Mountaineer. I rather see it cross over with Explorer than be laid to rest. 2010_Mountaineer_Order_Guide.pdf
  13. I have a 2006 Mountaineer Premier V8 w/ AWD. I live in Wisconsin...thus the AWD. I've owned the vehicle for a little over 2 years...so it has seen 2 winters. Recently, I noticed the running boards were becoming slower and slower in deploying and retracting. The passenger one got to the point where it stop retracting fully. When I took it in, I was told they would lubricate hinges for both sides...and the passenger side needed the running board assembly trans. replaced. Reason: corrosion from salt and moisture. That worries me because this is the last year of my warranty....and I don't want to be replacing running board assembly trans. every other year. Has anyone experienced issues with deployable running boards? Wisconsin liberally salts iced roads in winter.....so I shouldn't drive my Mountaineer in the rain or winter? The main purpose for me buying it was for those snowy Wisconsin winters. Living in Wisconsin, dusMerc
  14. Cool! Where did you get the pic? It definitely reflects the 1st generation with the concealed headlamps and sequential turn signals. dusMerc
