  1. I hope there is an Escape tophat. I have no interest in Kuga.
  2. Wasn't there something about manufacturing of the current motor ceasing early to begin production on the aluminum version? I swear I read something like that months ago.
  3. Well, that has sort of been Ford's M.O. of late, hasn't it? (2008 Escape, 2010 Mustang, etc, etc)
  4. I still don't understand why there is not an MKZ Hybrid.
  5. So now if you buy a Hummer, will you feel you need to buy another an hour later?
  6. Any coup will be short lived. They will continue to be made in their current factories, for now. (Until at least 2011? with a possible extension). I thought GM was closing Shreveport? I wonder how AM General will feel about producing the H2 for the Chinese? (The Mishawaka plant is theirs, right?)
  7. Someone had better tell Holden. They issued a press release about building it in Australia.
  8. According to GMI they'll be built in Aus. It sounds like they'll offer both the LWB and SWB (G8) version. I'm surprised they did not go with a column shift. Will be more surprised if it does not end up with one by the time it hits our shores.
  9. I have not seen any MKTs on the lot yet, but our local Ford dealer (Seperate from the LM dealer) has two SHOs, an SE, a couple SELs, and one Limited. I need to stop by to check them out.
  10. I thought there were upgrades required to meet current regulations? (Roof Strength? Stability Control? Airbags?)
  11. I wonder if the Vic won't see a minor investment to keep it going until Ford has a better plan in place. Remember when we all thought the Ranger would be dead by now? Isn't Ford working on negotiations with the CAW?
  12. Yeah, I get placeholder, just like I did earlier in the week. Kinda carpy to be excited to read it in a magazine, get ticked it's not in the magazine, and then get a placeholder when you go to the webpage.
  13. While the HS certainly looks like a Corolla, it's based on the european Avensis, which is also the basis of the Scion tC.
  14. If it works for the Transit, I'd hope it would work for a Falcon, even if it would have to sell as a Lincoln to justify the price. Oh, I'm not complaining, I like the TC. I wish it was made in a family version, I'd buy one right away. I just wish they'd use the same reasoning to bring us the Falcon
  15. So this vehicle is manufactured overseas, is on a dated platform which is due to be replaced, needed a slight refresh before coming here, and Ford is likely not making much money on them. A Falcon with an MKR clip would be nice. (And I like the TC too).
  16. I don't know that the Camry is un-noticeable. I saw one in a parking lot last week. It seemed noticeably more ugly to me.
  17. While I agree to some extent, it is not just a matter of time to change the perception, but also a matter of more vehicles like the MKT and MKS which share a platform, but look essentially nothing like their counterparts. The ES330 has not been made for years. The ES350 does not share any sheetmetal with the Camry. The MKZ, while better in this go around, still shares too much sheetmetal with the Fusion. Infinity does not make cars.
  18. I have always felt Fusion should have been renamed Taurus (Fusion wasn't even the first choice name - thank god for Pep Boys) and the 500 soldier on until the '10 model which would then be renamed Galaxie.
  19. When in Hawaii on my honeymoon years ago I was amazed how many Mazda-ized Fords I saw compared to the mainland. I think I saw more B-Series and Navajos in two weeks than I had seen the entire two years prior.
  20. This morning I parked next to a first gen SWB caravan, you know, from when minivans were mini. I wonder how the two compare in size?
  21. When I was a kid my family drove to Disney world in our station wagon. Mom and Dad up front, sisters in the middle sans seatbelt, and my brother and I in the back with the seat folded flat. Today my parents would probably be on the cover of the newspaper. Car seats/boosters and seat belts are the law. It's like arguing over fuel economy and weight over time without taking safety equipment into account. (My Dad's 81 Rabbit got over 50 MPG)
  22. In many cars you cannot fit three carseats accross (and kids practically need to be in some sort of seat until they are 21 it seems). Even if the one row is enough for your kids, do they not have friends?
