  1. As for the softer look, it seems to have a upscale Audi Porsche sense to it. I think it will do well with people looking for a more sophisticated styling. The more rugged look of the elusive maverick will appeal to those who like a more old school SUV design that the gen 1 escape personified.
  2. My Audi was broadsided Friday and I got an Rav4 as rental today. What a piece of shit compared to our Escape. Soft handling, lack of pick up and unengaged driving. Cant understand why the RAV is so popular. Must be cost. It does have very annoying safety features though that keep telling me when I cross a line.
  3. The problem is the design language of Infiniti. MB moves a quite few of what is essentially the same vehicle in the Boston area. Infiniti tries to stand out in the crowded lux and near lux field but ends up looking garish. I think the new corsair will find space in the market because new englanders appreciate a more understated design language.
  4. I am currently on vacation on Kauai and see that with the locals the midsize pick up is king. Tons of Tacos and Fontiers, not so many of the GM twins. Still a fair number of old sport tracs and rangers. When I come I always rent a crew cab pick up. Looking forward to the day I can get a ranger crew cab when I come. This time I got a Frontier. Not bad but certainly not the most modern of vehicles of I have driven in the last 10 years. Interior is boring, acceleration is only adequate and fuel economy is so far poor but it is a new truck with less than 1000 miles on it. Kinda of off topic but related to the the 2.3 engine and speed. Seeing tons of rental mustang convertiables on the road, 90% or more are non GT. Every now and then you see a GT. I hope that are not paying more for the joy of all that power. The max speed limit I have seen on Kauai is 50 mph with lots intermittent drops to 35 mph or slower in the larger towns. Here anything greater than the 2.3 would a waste of engine.
  5. Bet this a mining company or such and not the local pest control or NAPA dealer, 4x4's are generally need to deliver parts
  6. But but but it is a car that will sell in the dozens for beucoup bucks, not a vehicle for 99% of the US population. Interesting, but ultimately a toy for the ultra rich and it’s relevancy to general trends non existent.
  7. Saw one of these I the neighborhood, lots of presence in that color. It's common heritage with edge is very will hidden.
  8. You must sit in a lot of traffic or have a lead foot, ours does 23 in Boston traffic or 26 on hiway trips.
  9. I do think that the engine wouldn't cut it here in NA. It will need to wait for HiPo Six. We are spoiled
  10. I am curious, folks at work complain about electrical gremlins and oil burning engines. They still drink the cool aid.
  11. A saloon is a sedan in the uk, sorry, a station wagon is an estate
  12. I think Brucelinc has hit upon the most compelling reason why a high performance DCT makes so much sense. If one was going to spend that much money on a high performance vehicle, shouldn't it be state of art?
  13. My A3 has a seven speed DSG transmission, and I really enjoy driving it in manual mode. But when lazy in traffic it operates just fine in the automatic normal drive. The sports mode can also be a kick in the pants for a smaller car such as the A3. An 8 speed DCT in the mustang 500 GT will be fine.
  14. The cup holder complaint sounds a little overblown, a minor irritation at best. Kinda like complaining about the on off switch on an electric razor.
  15. I was thinking the same thing, it would make more sense as a four door mustang off shoot rather then a mini escape
  16. From Reuters today for April 18, new Honda Accord down 19.5%, down 14.4 % for cars in general, brand new Camry, down 5%, -12 % for cars in general., Nissan Passenger car sales down 35%. It not just Ford. Fiat did OK,(+5%) but mostly on the back of rental car sales.
  17. Here in greater Boston I see many of the BMW and MB CUV styled car things, even a fair number of the Honda Crossturd.
  18. I can see that, the Kids left home for college in the middle of the Edge years and they never came home to live. The Edge was great for the four of us where the Escape would be tight. Chris
  19. Funny thing, my wife felt that the Edge was too big for hauling a single person back and forth to work, that's why we have the Escape. Also, the turbo 4 in the Escape does a better job of hauling our boat then the 6 cylinder Edge we had. Though she admits that the Edge was more comfortable for trips longer then 3 hours.
  20. one of the reasons I ended up with my Audi is Quattro. If the mustang convertible had come with AWD I would have one today.
